Chapter 187: Not Going Alone

Few days after, he was alone in his chambers when Kael knocked on his door.

"Hey, it's Kael. Open up?"

"What do you want?" Royce immediately replied harshly.

"Come on, man. Don't be so harsh. I just got some good news for you," Kael said with a sharp voice.

And with an headshake, Royce stood up as he went ahead to open up.

He made sure not to make Kael come in, and Kael wasn't wanting to come in after all.

"Congratulations, Royce. You are in trouble," Kael said with a smile.

"What? Why is that?" Royce's mind jumped, wondering if it has anything to do with meeting Commander Cross, or even Esta.

"Well, I'll tell you," Kael sighed.

"I have just been named as the First Command Leader of the Sovereign Protocols, which makes you the Second Command Leader."

"This simply means you are under me, and would have to respect and obey my orders, or..."

Before Kael could finish talking, Royce quickly slammed the door shut and walked away from the door side.

"Okay, Royce. That's your first offence. You'd hear from the Grandmaster!"

While Liam had plans to eliminate Jayden, he had no idea Jayden had the same plans for him as well.

In fact, Jayden had taken it upon himself to do the job. He knew it would seem like death mission, but he was so down for it.

If that was the only way to save the world from going through a moment of disaster, then he would do it pleasure, even though he might die trying...

He knew he wouldn't die anyway.

Not when the real job wasn't done, right?

"So, what do we do?" Harper asked. "You know I can actually find a way to reach the Presidential Palace and end him."

"No, leave the job for me. I've got this," Jayden said at once.

"Really?" She furrowed her voice.

"Yeah, I mean it," Jayden gave her a stare and said, this time sounding like a very commanding tone.

Harper clearly acted like she wasn't happy with his decisions, because she thinks there was no way he could do it on his own, right?

The clear fact was that she knew nothing about his combat capabilities, and that...

That was when Paula came in.

"You have no idea who this bad guy is. Of course, you are good with the guns, but his good with his body moves. He took out two hefty men right before my eyes back at Cloudbridge City," Paula said.

"That doesn't mean shit. A single can end whatever moves he could deliver. We can to assist him. If no one is with me, then I'll do it alone," Harper turned to Jayden. "You aren't going anywhere without me. I must come with you."

"I'll be coming as well..."

At that point, Camilia suddenly walked in, her voice as heavy as a rock.

Jayden's face completely changed the moment she said that. He already showed his objection right without even saying a word, and her face replied with a speechless insistence.

Jayden couldn't help but shake his head in frustration.

"I said I got it," he said.

"But we don't know about that. We have to back at your back in case your plans, which you haven't told us goes south. We won't let that happen," Harper was at it again.

She was clearly the most stubborn lady, and no matter what happens, she would always show up.

Interestingly she happened to always show up at the right time... Those times when they needed her the most, right?

So, having to join him didn't look like it was a blind mission, and in fact, if they were to check, Harper was the best addition he would need in this kind of situation.

And for Camilia, she was the kind that would always want to enter a pit if she sees Jayden do so.

That was the main reason Jayden had been refusing to allow them come with him. Sure, he was worried about all of them, but was worried about Cammy most... Why because she could clearly be the weakest figure amongst them.

What was to expect from the daughter of a billionaire who knew nothing about hustling to make money in life?

Born with a silver spoon, she would be doing no good in situations like this.

However, Jayden just couldn't make her stay, and that realisation mad his heart clench severally.

But what could be do?

"Alright, the both of you can come with me, the rest must stay and protect the capital. I mean, the whole country precisely," Jayden said.

Charlotte walked over with what looked like pain and handed it to Jayden.

"A tracker. I can watch your locations from here, and since the satellite networks of Icelandia had been taken by us, there wouldn't be any tech force to interrupt. So, you're good," Charlotte smiled.

She pinned them in Cammy and Harper's clothes as well, before giving a nod of assurance.

"Shadow Mask. Don't forget," Charlotte smiled as she handed the Shadow Mask to them each.

"Three hours durability now. I think you have a high chance of making it than me in the Defence Unit," she stated, handing one to Jayden and giving him a short kiss.

They would be doing the job, coded and smartly just not to be caught, or else it wouldn't end the best way.

Jayden knew that, and that's why Harper wouldn't be using her trademark helicopter attacks on them, because she was likely not to succeed before the presidential palace in Icelandia was very heavily guarded.

Later that day, they set out on the journey and used the same method Charlotte used to enter the country.

Fake identity. Fake skins.

As expected, they succeed, and without the knowledge of no freaking Icelandian, the people who would eliminate the troublesome President Liam Thompson was there...

However, there is a twist...

******

President Liam stood by the wide glass window, staring out at the dark sky. His face was hard, his eyes colder than usual. Behind him, Sofia stood quietly, waiting for his word.

Finally, he turned.

"This war is slipping from my hands," Liam said slowly. "Jayden keeps rising, and the people are starting to doubt me. If we can't beat him with weapons, then we cut off his head."

Sofia's lips curved slightly. "You mean him… and his women?"

Liam nodded. "Yes. Kill them all. Without his little circle, he will break. Nortasia will panic. And I will rise again."

She moved closer, her voice sharp. "I already know the men to send. Trained shadows. They don't miss."

"Good," Liam replied. "Make sure they strike the palace directly. No hesitation, no warning. By sunrise, I want Jayden's blood on the floor of his halls."

Sofia gave a short laugh. "Do you really think his Aegis toy will protect him from blades in the night? No system shields the heart when it's stabbed from the dark."

Liam smirked, but it didn't last. His hand gripped the edge of the desk tightly. "Do not fail me, Sofia. If these assassins stumble, I'll have their families dragged through fire."

"They won't," she said firmly. "They are already waiting. They will move tonight."

The room fell into silence for a moment. Only the ticking clock and the soft sound of the storm outside filled the air.

Finally, Liam whispered, almost to himself, "Jayden will never see the dawn."

And Sofia, with a dark look in her eyes, simply said, "Let's end the legend before it begins."

Royce wasn't concerned about the affairs going between the Grandmaster and Kael. At the moment, he was only concerned about his plans with Esta, and how they'd progress in their mission.

He met with Esta at the Test Base the next day after Kael's news.

"Hey," Esta greeted.

"Hey," Royce responded with a smile.

"You don't seem pissed," Esta said while staring at him.

"Pissed? Why would I?" Royce asked.

"About the First Command Leader post given to Kael Nexuson," she gave him a demanding look.

"Why would I be pissed about that?" Royce asked, curious.

"Because we all know it's wrong. The Grandmaster told us that there would be complete equality with the two Chosens. Now he has defied his own promises, but the sad thing is that the people wouldn't see that, because they..." She paused. "They seem to love Kael."

Royce stayed silent for a moment and sighed.

"At least, I have gotten my mind of the bloody Chosen thing. Let's get this over with. I have to go back to Earth. My home," Royce said.

Esta nodded.

"So what have you gotten so far?" Royce asked as they switched to the main topic.

"Nothing yet, I have been finding every part, especially the West Continent where most of the populations are. Nothing," Esta shook her head.

"Oops. Does that mean it's going to be that tough?" He asked.

"Yeah, I guess. But recently, I decided to check out the South Continent, based on the ongoing war. Nortasia keeps winning. Overheard Commander Cross telling Commander Dran that Nortasia destroyed all the remote stations in Icelandia. And the President is just a twenty-three year old."

Royce's eyes widened.

"So, I'm thinking... Maybe... That young President... Was the one who received the Absolute Guide."

At that point, Royce's jaw dropped.

"No!!! That can't be true!"
