Chapter 253: Revelations And A Legacy Of Lies
"Jinx, can you show Ellen around?" Sunny asked, settling onto the plush couch.
Jinx stared at him for a long moment, then flicked her gaze to Vancouver and then Josephine. A sigh escaped her, less one of exhaustion and more of resignation to her role as big sister/babysitter:
"Come on, Sis. Let's go see some armors. They're big and pointy."
"Okay," Ellen nodded, already intrigued by the promise of advanced weaponry. She followed Jinx out, the door closing behind them.
Josephine immediately sat beside Sunny, her posture mirroring his readiness for serious discussion. Sunny gestured for Star and Vancouver to sit down. The two exchanged a brief, assessing look—Star aloof, Vancouver tense—before taking seats on opposite couches.
"Okay..." Sunny started, leaning forward, his voice dropping to a serious tone:
"I think Olivia is alive." The simple statement was a bomb dropped in the room, stunning both Star and Vancouver into silence.
"Wait, Olivia? You mean Olivia Falcon?" Star asked, her disbelief plain. Olivia had been a close, trusted friend.
"Yes," Sunny confirmed, nodding. "And she is working for the Wendigos, which means she has a connection with the Great Mother."
This revelation struck the three with a paralyzing shock.
"How?" Star managed to ask, her confusion turning to a bitter sense of betrayal. How could their best friend turn against everything they stood for?
"I don't know the full story," Sunny admitted, turning his gaze between Josephine and Star.
"When we rescued those kids and Eve from the Wendigos, we encountered Shadow and Xanor there. I was going to kill them both, but she interfered. Not only that, she has the strength of a Second Order."
"Second Order? Wait!" Vancouver interrupted, pushing forward in his seat, his mind struggling to keep pace.
"How is she alive, and how the hell do you two know Olivia?!"
Sunny stared at the Vancouver, then at Star, then finally at Josephine, who gave him a slow, encouraging nod. The time for secrets was over.
"Because I know her, Uncle." Sunny said softly.
Sunny's body shimmered, and the next moment, God wolf disappeared, replaced by the familiar, boyish, yet regal form of Sunny, the Star Nation's true Emperor.
".....?!!"
Vancouver froze, his brain momentarily unable to process the profound impossibility of the sight. The impossible was staring him down.
"And..."
Hearing Star's voice, Vancouver turned, his confusion deepening, only to see her appearance shift as well, revealing the strikingly similar, yet distinct, features of Bella, the elf who was supposed to be dead.
"Bel... Bella?!" He shot to his feet, staring at the two, pure shock rendering his mind blank.
"Yes, Uncle Vancouver. I am Bella, and he's Sunny," Star confirmed, her voice now flat and devoid of emotion, the trauma of her past still echoing in her tone.
"But... But you are dead! I saw your body!" Vancouver stammered, reliving the horrific memory.
"Indeed, I was dead," Star replied, an inherent weariness marking her words.
"My weak, mortal body was killed. I am alive now because of the Prince. He resurrected me and gave me power. So now... I am known as Star."
Vancouver blinked, rubbing his eyes, trying to force a logic onto the chaos. He turned back to his nephew, a final, desperate test required.
"You? If you are Sunny, what did I give you on your fifth birthday?" he asked, his voice strained.
"You gave me a fully charged laser gun," Sunny answered with a warm, genuine smile that sliced through the tension. "Mom was so scared she took it from me, scolded you mercilessly, and even warned Dad."
"....?!"
Vancouver blinked again, the specific details—the gift, the scolding, the warning—were irrefutable.
"You? But... Matilda said—"
"That was all a lie! That Bitch is the one who killed me!" Star snapped, the mention of Matilda igniting a fierce, barely suppressed killing intent in her eyes.
"Matilda killed you?!" Vancouver was utterly speechless, the foundations of his world dissolving.
"Uncle, this is what happened." Sunny began, launching into the full narrative—the murder, the political coup, the resurrection, the time spent waiting, and the recent conflict. He left no detail behind.
Vancouver collapsed back onto his seat, his thoughts a catastrophic mess of grief and rage.
"So... All this while, you were my nephew, and that witch sat on the throne," he finally managed, the realization crushing him.
"Why didn't you do anything until now? Why did you let her get away with it?"
"Even if I wanted to, I couldn't," Sunny explained, the memory of his solemn oath resurfacing. "You made me promise not to get the innocent involved. And with that family weapon in Matilda's hands, there was no way I could challenge her without mass bloodshed."
"You actually can," Vancouver said, sitting up abruptly, his old strategic fire reigniting through the fog of shock. He stared at Sunny, his resolve hardening.
"Really?" Sunny, Star, and Josephine stared at him in surprise.
"Yes," Vancouver confirmed.
"That weapon is very powerful, and while it once belonged to the Fearless family, it's now the Royal Family's property. Your great-father made some critical changes to it. Only the Blood of a true Royal Family member can activate the weapon. Matilda isn't of your blood, so she can't use it."
Sunny blinked again, sharing a look of profound astonishment with Star and Josephine.
"So you mean she won't be able to use that weapon at all?" Sunny asked to clarify, the threat vanishing into thin air.
"You are the only living child of the Royal Bloodline," Vancouver confirmed with a nod. "Unless she has your blood, that weapon is useless."
"That is excellent news," Josephine said, relief flooding her voice. "But she has been missing."
"Yes," Sunny agreed, his expression thoughtful. "This is getting me worried. The Matilda I know will never leave the Star Nation alone, unless she is after something that will grant her power—powers stronger than what the Star Nation gives."
"Forget all that for a moment," Sunny shook his head, focusing on the immediate need for knowledge. He turned directly to Vancouver, his eyes intense.
"Uncle, I need to know everything that happened during your mission, and exactly how my parents died. This can help with my future journeys, and especially with understanding Olivia."
Vancouver looked at his nephew, the Emperor, and the savior. The time for secrets and mourning was over; the time for action and truth had come. He finally nodded, his eyes clear and resolute.
"Okay."
