Infinite Slaughter System: I Kill, Therefore I Ascend!

Chapter 77: Meeting Outcome

Li Ling smiled at the sight of the heavily breathing Lu Kuangren who wanted nothing more than to fight him to the death, but had to hold himself back because his Senior Sister blocked the way using her own body.

Meanwhile, Nan Shidao was severely hyperventilating, the sequence of events completely overwhelming her mind which had limited experiences due to the sheltering nature of righteous sects compared to demonic ones. Her eyes were completely fixed on the Mountain Splitting Blade which continuously hovered around her in a playful manner, waiting for the grade 2 talisman to run out of energy before being ready to strike.

Meanwhile, Shi Feng had already cast the actual daoist art on himself, his eyes fixed on the Blood Drinking Spear which had dislodged itself from Gu Yang's corpse and was swimming about in the air like a lovely fish.

The strangest one was Luo Roumei, who despite the situation, managed to forcibly retain some form of calm, wearing a diplomatic smile on her face that was meant to defuse tensions, but one could see the surging flames of anger deep in her eyes.

But the situation dictated the actions. Now that their group was caught off guard and easily suppressed by Li Ling, they had to at least play along until they could guarantee their lives before thinking of what to do next.

So despite wishing to cleave Li Ling's head off even more than Lu Kuangren, Luo Roumei blocked her junior brother's strike because it would only escalate the situation further and give him reason to not only harm him, but her other apprentice brother and sister.

"Greetings Path Walker Li Ling, my name is Luo Roumei and I am one of the direct disciples of the Alchemy Elder of the Qing Shan Sect. These are my junior sisters and brothers who are inner disciples of the sect as well." She introduced their group in a soft tone.

Li Ling raised an eyebrow. "I could guess that much from your robes. What I find rather interesting is why you are all the way out here in a demonic sect territory, casually watching the teleportation hall. Could you be… watching for someone?"

Luo Roumei's smile did not falter. "Indeed, Path Walker Li is quite sharp. We are assigned by the sect to meet and apprehend a suspect in a murder case involving the number 9 marketplace of our sect, so we came here to see if the suspect would pass through."

Li Ling thought to himself that indeed, it was the final batch of pursuers he never met because of the intervention with Bai Ruyi. It was truly as they said on earth, that enemies would always meet on a narrow road.

"Well, I'm here now, aren't I? You are free to arrest me and take me back for whatever purpose your sect has, but beware that I am also free to resist arrest and exterminate my pursuers as I please." Li Ling responded with a shrug, but his words caused the hearts of the group to become colder because they knew he meant it.

Luo Roumei gently shook her head. "That will not be necessary. Upon witnessing your arrival, we realized you have joined the Six Paths Demon Sect and have ascended in terms of status. It is not the place of the Qing Shan Sect nor us to judge you, so we gave up the chase and decided to simply report back and seek to mediate the issue with you diplomatically."

Li Ling nodded because the logic was sound. Not to mention, he only found this group because he had reactivated his Purple Mansion's clairvoyant danger sense from the moment he left Wen Caiyi's side as that wretched Nascent Soul woman had never given up the thought of harming him.

Just as Wen Caiyi continuously felt danger warnings from Li Ling, so too did he from her, so he simply kept it suppressed because whether it was Wen Caiyi or himself, the danger sense was limited by range and duration.

So you could imagine Li Ling's surprise when this random stop in some low level region he did not even remember the name of suddenly began to give him a danger warning for five Foundation Establishment fellows. However, the danger warning was brief and disappeared quickly, and if Li Ling had not honed in on it fast, he would not have found this group.

In light of that, he felt the need to investigate. Was it a group of robbers? Was it some righteous sect disciples seeking to claim credit for executing justice? Or was it just some banal, conscripted enmity that would net him free kills?

When he arrived using the Perfection stage Mana Regressing Art to hide his cultivation and the Perfect stage Disguise Art to change his looks, he was surprised to see that the group were Qing Shan disciples specifically, and Li Ling almost immediately understood what was going on.

He was just really surprised that they had chased him this far. Indeed, if he had followed the common sense route of a fugitive escaping to the north, he would have had to pass here to get to the Holy City. The allowed teleportation range for prospective disciples rushing over was far larger than an admitted Path Walker going out.

As for the seeming discrepancy, it was not strange. It was akin to how an army recruiter would talk to you kindly and gently before signing the paper, promising you wealth, glory and even a free car and house when you got in. Yet, when you arrive at boot camp, they would kick you about, roar in your ears and even use corporal punishment to make you obey.

Li Ling initially decided to slaughter them all, but thought against it. He was no longer as impulsive as before to do the first thing that came to mind and deal with the consequences after. Now, he had to consider long term repercussions of his actions, so he approached this group rather cordially.

As Luo Roumei was the biggest threat, he placed a hand on her shoulder and easily suppressed her with his Blood Qi which surged into her body, ready to unleash its terrifying corrosive nature if she dared to muster even a hint of magic power.

The woman understood and settled down immediately, making Li Ling think this group were intelligent. Who knew they had ignorant, hot blooded fools that thought before they acted and one neanderthal retard who was too busy pissing herself in fear to even protect her own life.

Gu Yang was a fair kill with no real repercussions because the fellow attacked first, giving Li Ling the moral high ground. Even if Li Ling indeed slaughtered him unfairly, it was exactly as Luo Roumei said, the Qing Shan Sect could not even afford to ask the Six Paths Demon Sect for an explanation, so they would probably gloss it over or pretend it did not happen.

So he died for nothing.

Well, not for nothing, he provided a nice amount of Slaughter Points.

But looking at the rest of the group, apart from Shi Feng and Luo Roumei who were intelligent enough to be called his peers, the other two were not even worth talking about. However, he refrained from taking them down for now, because he wanted to see what value this group could bring him outside Slaughter Points.

So he listened to Luo Roumei's diplomatic garbage for a little bit before becoming bored.

"Look, you have only one more line, one more sentence in which you can convince me not to kill you all here and now. Choose your words carefully." Li Ling gave an ultimatum directly.

The atmosphere, which was already tense, became extremely oppressive. Shi Feng was readying himself for battle that he knew was inevitable, Lu Kuangren had just about had it with this farce and got up, aiming to use more severe means.

Nan Shidao had somewhat calmed down in this time and even while still trembling, managed to open her storage bag and take out a grade two attack talisman.

Luo Roumei saw this happen and understood it was the moment of truth, so she answered straightforwardly. "To give you a suitable answer, I need to know more about you, what you want, what you need and then I can tailor our utility specifically to you."

Once again, Li Ling was surprised by this woman's cleverness, and he decided to throw a scan her way.

「Name: Luo Roumei

Status: Healthy.

Age: 28/900

Slaughter Points Value: 70

Cultivation Base: Foundation Establishment level 7 (80%)

Remarks: Luo Roumei is a rather special Spirit Human, being the Princess of one of their clans, the Dark Leaf Tribe. As her tribe resides in the jurisdiction of the Qing Shan Sect and are excellent alchemists, the best among them are often recruited into the sect, becoming upper echelon in due time due to their enormous lifespans. However, Luo Roumei is hiding a secret from both her clan and the sect that only her own mother knows; she has a Heavenly Wood Spirit Root!」

Li Ling's eyes narrowed deeply, his heart moved. Immediately, he made the decision on the spot, because being adaptive did not mean being indecisive. When the time came to take action, he would do so without hesitation, and for him the current risk was far lower than the possible reward.

A lot of things occurred in this moment.

First Li Ling invested 10 Slaughter Points from Gu Yang's death into his Soul Piercing Seal, taking it to the Advanced Realm. Here, it now gained a higher success rate and did not easily leave the target any means to rebel compared to the entry level.

Then he invested 20 points into it again, sending it to the Expert level, which could now attack two people at once, the penetrative power even enough to break through some weaker artifacts meant to guard the mind.

Precisely using this power, Li Ling pierced into Luo Roumei's Sea of Consciousness - which was far stronger than a person typically at level 7 Foundation Establishment but was nothing to Li Ling - and imprinted his seal on her, which he maliciously made as the same old majin symbol.

This caused Luo Roumei to scream and clutch her head in pain, which also caused a chain reaction from the others. Lu Kuangren roared and struck out with his full power, but Li Ling activated his Perfection Golden Blockade which easily deflected the attack as if it was from a piece of paper.

Meanwhile, Li Ling pointed and formed a pebble at the edge of his finger which he did not enlarge to its full size, flicking it towards the remaining trio of the group. Lu Kuangren, who was the closest, was the first to face off against this seemingly harmless pebble which was a meteor condensed in size but not in power and density.

So it was natural that he was caught by its gravitational field and smashed into blood mist that merged with the pebble, giving it a blood coating as it moved towards Nan Shidao.

No matter how the young lady chose to react, her end was the same as her apprentice brother before her, being turned into a new brand of paint for the stylish mini-meteor. It didn't do anything that she had a low level Golden Blockade protecting her, if that was so foolproof, then those at number 5 Joyous Market wouldn't have squatted down in despair, waiting to die.

The final one, Shi Feng, saw all this and panicked. "Wait, Li Ling, I am willing to serve- AH!"

Li Ling would have actually taken him in on another day, but what he was about to do with Luo Roumei could not be known to a third person, especially not someone who was from a righteous sect group with enmity towards him.

So Shi Feng, who used everything from talismans, artifacts, to his own daoist arts, was only able to delay the pebble which had not lost much momentum, powered by Li Ling's dual perfection Azure Yang magic power and the daoist art itself, causing an exponential growth in power akin to fusion.

His fate was sealed.

All of this was witnessed by Luo Roumei in her last moments of consciousness before she passed out from the pain of having a slave seal implanted in her mind so roughly.
