Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix

Chapter 759: Surprising decision

At that point in time, the dragons knew what Rain's rings could do… so they bombarded him with colossal crystal spears. The basilisk dragons were trying to recover, so they were unable to help.

As Rain made the ring absorb the blood, colossal crystal spears flew toward him with menacing speed. The air crackled with intense magical energy as these deadly projectiles aimed to strike him. With agility and precision, Rain swiftly maneuvered himself, dodging the lethal assault while zigzagging.

Meanwhile, his ring, attuned to collect the blood within the barrier, pulsated with a powerful glow. Rain was well aware of its purpose, knowing that as long as he maintained contact with the ring, it would dutifully absorb the spilled blood.

The ring proved to be a blessing in the midst of the chaos, drawing in copious amounts of blood above the barrier. Rain's focus remained unbroken as he deftly maneuvered, ensuring he maintained contact with the ring amid the flurry of attacks. The quantity of blood collected was substantial, and the ring absorbed it efficiently, fulfilling its purpose with each passing moment.

Before long, all the blood was sucked, and then Rain pointed the ring toward the monsters… the mana around began to be sucked, and even the colossal crystal spears started to decrease in size.

The dragons, witnessing Rain's unexpected maneuver, were paralyzed with visible shock and disbelief at the sight before them. Their menacing assault had now begun to dwindle and diminish in size.

As the monstrous creatures observed the shrinking spears and the apparent loss of their lethal potency, their reactions were palpable as Rain smashed them with his punches. The dragons, typically imposing and confident in their abilities, were taken aback by the sudden turn of events.

"Round two, bitches…" Rain said and then smirked as he made the mana absorbed into the ice blades.

The ice blades grew longer than Rain himself, and they were even turning the dust around into crystal ice. It goes without saying, but even Rain started to feel cold and tremble a bit… the ring was making him absorb around five hundred points of mana per second, and he sent all that toward the ice blades.

While the dragons hesitated and showed shock on their faces, Rain flew like lightning toward a basilisk dragon and pierced the neck of the target. After passing through fast enough not to let even blood fall on him, Rain turned around and saw the neck of the beast turning to ice before cracking completely.

Rain didn't waste time and soon selected the next targets. Before the dragons could even think of flying to do anything, Rain flew so fast and passed through the necks of three other basilisk dragons and instantly killed them as well.

In the midst of the intense confrontation, Rain found himself momentarily caught off guard by an abrupt and drastic shift in the battlefield. As he scanned his surroundings, massive crystalline walls materialized in an instant, surrounding him and the area and reflecting the interior of the trap from all directions.

The sudden appearance of these imposing crystal walls, mirroring the labyrinthine confines of the trap, startled Rain. He sensed an impending danger, an ominous indication that the Crystal Dragons were preparing to execute a dangerous plan against him.

Realizing the imminent threat, a surge of urgency propelled Rain into action. Determined to avoid the trap's confinement, he summoned all his strength and ferocity. Without hesitation, he launched himself towards one of the crystalline walls, delivering a powerful strike with every ounce of his might.

The impact reverberated through the barrier as Rain's relentless force collided with the crystalline surface. Through sheer determination and raw strength, Rain managed to destroy one of the crystalline walls, creating an opening for his escape. Still, he opened his eyes widely again when he turned around and saw the dragons flying away.

"Sons of a bitch…" Rain thought and then sighed. "Damned cowards… they only fight when they know that they can win. Where is your damn pride? Well… they are dragons of gluttony and envy, in the end…"

Rain decided not to waste time and then return home… he kept the seals active for a while just to be safe, even though he was gaining a ton of mana by sucking the energy from the magic barriers.

The fight didn't last long, but Rain learned a lot thanks to it… one of the most important things that he learned was the fact that he could obtain the power of the dragons by using them with a ring of similar corruption effect. The rings probably have a limit based on how much mana he used to create them, but Rain could at least gain their abilities up to level two, at least the main ones.

The most basic level was their primary source of attack. In the case of the basilisks, it was their ability to eat poison and treat it like a source of energy and in the case of the crystal dragons were the crystal spears. The second level was to drain mana from the surroundings and be able to use crystal magic with more potency…

"This will help us a lot… but we can't use it forever," Rain thought as he watched the rings lose their red color. "The more we use it, the more the blood will lose its power… probably because they aren't the true vessels of the blood." Experience more on My Virtual Library Empire

Rain obtained another power that he could use against the dragons, and his friends and family could do the same as well. Moreover, they didn't have to risk suffering the same corruption from the dragons… that being said, things weren't looking up since humans couldn't find more allies.

"How am I going to explain this to everyone?" Rain thought and then sighed. "I am at loss for words..."
