Chapter 618: Next move
Wind magic was Rain's second less used element, so he asked Liss for some tips on how to use it better for large scale spells.
"Just fill my spell with mana and I will do the rest," Liss said. "We don't have time for a quick lesson in wind Magic."
As the threat of the approaching purple smoke cloud got closer, Liss went into action. With a powerful summoning, she called a tornado that began to rapidly gain strength. Rain channeled his mana to further boost the tornado's power. The cyclone became a formidable force, ready to counter the poisonous smoke.
However, Rain knew that his mana reserves were limited, and they were running low. But just when it seemed they might face a shortage of mana, Liss showcased her skill. She harnessed the tornado's power to draw in and contain the poisonous smoke within its swirling vortex. Then, with a calculated move, she directed the toxic cloud towards the enemies' camp.
It was a clever and strategic maneuver, effectively turning the poisonous smoke against their foes. Rain and Liss's teamwork had stopped the immediate threat and shifted the tide of battle in their favor… or so they thought.
"That should be enough," Liss said and then sighed in relief.
"You have learned well how to control a spell of that scale automatically, even when you don't have any mana left," Rain said while nodding. "Not bad. You have been training well, I have nothing left to teach you."
"When did you become my teacher?" Liss furrowed her eyebrows. "Didn't you notice anything odd with the tornado?"
"... Now that you mentioned, it is spinning in the opposite direction of the Tornado that the enemies used," Rain said while watching the tornado in the distance.
"I don't know why, but controlling them to follow a certain direction is easier when you make them spin to certain directions," Liss said. "They lose power faster when they are going against the wind, though."
Tornadoes spin in different directions depending on whether they occur in the Northern Hemisphere or the Southern Hemisphere. In the Northern Hemisphere, tornadoes typically spin counterclockwise, which means they rotate to the left. In the Southern Hemisphere, tornadoes tend to spin clockwise, or to the right.
This happens because of the Earth's rotation. The planet rotates from west to east, and this rotation affects the movement of air masses. In the Northern Hemisphere, moving air gets deflected to the right due to the Earth's rotation. In the Southern Hemisphere, it gets deflected to the left.
The specific path a tornado takes within these hemispheres is influenced by factors like wind patterns, weather conditions, and local geography. So, the way tornadoes spin is linked to the Earth's rotation, and their path is influenced by a mix of weather and geographical factors.
Rain assumed that it was the cause… it was quite useful to know that. He tried to apply his knowledge from Earth as much as possible, but he was only one person and he couldn't go around spreading knowledge from Earth without looking suspicious. His wives always looked at him in confusion and a bit of suspicion when he did that and didn't explain how he learned that.
Even though he didn't have ill intentions, he didn't like that many secrets between them.
In any case, while Rain was thinking of that, the tornado suddenly dissipated before it could reach the enemies camp… they didn't only have a powerful control over fire magic, they also had some control over wind magic.
"....How annoying," Liss said and then sighed. "I guess I am not the best wind mage around."

Liss assumed that only a single person dispersed her spell… and then she left while feeling quite annoyed and soon began to use Meditation Mastery.
Liss and Asche fought using a lot of mana, even though everyone used Magic Boost, people like Reca and Jori could recover faster since they had less, so Rain considered taking only those two with them and the three thousand warriors in the afternoon to attack the enemies. Still, he also thought that it would be wiser to wait a bit longer and let the enemies grow weary.
"No, this won't do it," Rain said. "Their real forces are behind the Monsters and they are focusing on using them to understand our strength and tire us out."
In a war where the enemy has the advantage of greater numbers and a continuous supply of monsters from dungeons, the strategy of trying to outlast them rarely ends well. Dungeons can produce monsters as long as they have a source of mana, making the enemy's force seemingly endless, with the ability to resupply every few months.
Given this situation, Rain understood the importance of a swift and decisive approach. Waiting or trying to endure an extended conflict would only work to the advantage of their enemies. To succeed, they needed to be fast and deadly in their actions.
"I guess I need to recover my mana too," Rain thought and then began to use Meditation Mastery.
While they had a huge supply of potions, Rain didn't have to use that since his warriors also needed time to recover and digest the food that they just had eaten.
Considering all the things Rain learned thanks to those endless wars, he knew what he had to do and it seemed that the first battle helped him to take the second step in that conflict. His warriors were brimming with confidence and those who weren't were just eager to avenge the death of their comrades.
Confidence and the desire for revenge were two powerful forces on the battlefield… and Rain knew how to use them.
Once Rain confirmed that most of the warriors had recovered and ready for more at noon, Rain called Jori and Reca. The others will have to stay behind and help the ones that couldn't stay behind. It was the best option in order to recover their forces.
