Chapter 363 - Cat and Mouse Chase
"RAAAAAARHHHHH!!!!!"
William turned around and cursed out, "Mother*ucker!"
Because right as he turned around, he saw the large calamity level monster was already preparing another one of its energy beam and even worse… it was pointing it at him.
"You just couldn't give me a moment to enjoy this beautiful view could you." William said but his wings were already flapping speedily.
He immediately turned around and flew away from the range of the beam as fast as he could. He knew that if even one of those beams were to hit him straight on, then he would become a pile of ash no matter how much he had trained.
It didn't matter if he practiced multiple affinities, it didn't matter if a god overlooked his actions and it certainly didn't matter if he asked helped from a non-existent helper in his mind because none were strong enough to help him from a calamity level monster.
Even if one of them was strong enough to flick this monster away… he was sure that Baphomet had already prepared something for her that would keep her busy and him pseudo fucked.
Right now, he had nobody else to help him other than he himself.
But with countless spells and other things in hand, did he really need help?
OF COURSE HE DID! It's a freaking calamity level monster.
So William flew up as he escaped from an energy beam that the monster set upon him.
William looked at the energy beam that he barely escaped from and saw it hit a distant place which was filled with trees and smaller monsters. As it hit, an explosion occurred that immediately brightened up the place.
But William was able to see it clearly, the instant the energy beam hit the place, everything… every trees, lizards, snakes, monkeys… everything evaporated in an instant.
The horror that he felt when he saw that scene was impeccable. But even more so, he felt hungry… hungry to have the same level of power someday that he could do something like this one day.
To become an immovable object that nobody could move or hurt, to be so strong that he was force of nature itself, to reach that place one day…
William thought such things in a moment then his eyes enlarged as he quickly wrapped his body with his wings. The reason for doing that was, after the light filled the place, came the impact.
Immediately after the light came an explosion filled the place and destroyed anything and everything that it touched. But William wasn't shielding himself from the explosion, he was far away from it to be harmed by it.
What he was shielding against was the explosions blast wave that accompanied it, but except that the blast wave didn't have the limit of explosion as it continued to rage away everything that it found in place.
William felt the strong air wave and had trouble trying to stay afloat because of it. The level 3 dragon wings that he had were versatile and could be used for combat yes, but it was still not strong enough to flap out strong winds to take out enemies nor sturdy enough to withstand such strong airflow.
But with William's exceedingly increasing survival will, he pushed through the blast wave and stabilized himself in the air for a moment before flying away once more, as he saw the monster charging itself for another attack.
So William flew and dodged the next and the next and a few others as the monster kept barraging him with such attacks.
He looked at himself and saw that he had no visible injury to be worried about, then at his wings as he frowned.
The wings were damaged quite a bit by the blast wave of multiple energy beams and were still doing their best to keep him afloat. But he couldn't say that they would still do the same in the next few moments.
William felt another energy beam aimed at him and tried to maneuver out of its way but it seemed like the monster had learned from its previous takes, because it didn't hit at the moment William thought it would.
Instead it delayed it for a moment for William to get out of the way then quickly aimed at him again and fired.
William saw the beam flying straight at him and cursed, "SHIIIIT!"
He tried to move out of the blast as much as he could, but the beam was too fast and his wings were already a lot damaged for him to escape from this one.
"AHHHHHHH!!"
William felt the brunt of the attack as the energy beam wasn't able to take his life, instead it took away his left wing. William screamed out loud as he felt a part of his body evaporating away instantly.
Even if the wings were not originally his, it still was made from his body and bones, so it hurt a lot when he felt the burn.
But the biggest problem wasn't the pain but his wings. How was he going to fly with just one burned wing and another okay-ish one?
So he fell.
William crashed down the skies holding his left side. The monster seeing that it had finally hit the bug it was targeting roared loudly in excitement. Then it walked, slowly but surely towards its target to remove it from existence.
William used the only wing left in his body to stop the crashes impact from hurting him too much. But he knew the fall was still a lot fast and the impact would probably make him unconscious.
Suddenly something small and extremely fast went out of his suit as it landed on the ground. Then it suddenly became huge as it looked upon William's body about to fall.
It ran with fury and stood at the place where William's body would fall and used its own body to stop William from harm.
William felt the large body and soft fur on his back as he smiled in pain. Then rubbed the thing that saved him from probably being eaten by the monster or worse.
"Than- Thanks for the help, Clawdia."
Clawdia looked at her master as she felt the seriousness of his condition and the situation. Then looked at the burned wing and licked it.
William felt Clawdia's saliva on his burned wing and it stung, but he didn't stop her from doing it. After licking for a moment, Clawdia stopped and William also saw the effect.
The pain was there but it was not as much as before and the little pain that he had right now was small enough for him to handle it.
William's wings then went back into his body as he felt a sudden drainage of power. He had used the wings way too much and his physical stamina too had been whisked away by the previous cat and mouse race.
William didn't have much time to rest as he felt the vibrations from all around him. He saw the whole jungle shake in fear as the abomination approached this place.
Both he and Clawdia felt the huge danger clawing towards them and prepared themselves.
"You ready Clawdia?"
'Always master… but can I ask something after this?'
"What?"
Clawdia licked her lips in excitement.
'Can I eat it afterwards?'
