Infinite Magus

Chapter 10: — The Breeze

Clay entered his fundamentals class again, seeing Mr.Faroth standing at the lectern once again, looking as bored as ever. He sat in his normal seat and sighed.

"Hello, Clay."

"Hi."

"You look shaken up, have you had an altercation with someone?"

"Not really…I dueled with Nora Flamesworth…"

"Hm, well, I would understand being shaken up since you lost."

"I won."

"I'm sorry? You won?"

"Yes. I won."

"Huh…well that's surprising. Where did you get that sword?"

Clay took out the shining sword.

"Oh, this? I just found it laying around somewhere."

Obviously he lied. He would sound insane if he told the truth. He wasn't really sure how he had even come by it. If it had anything to do with the strange dream.

"Is that so? That's…quite the sword to find lying around."

"Mhm."

The lesson began. It was similar to what the last lesson was about. Giving him more insight on history.

"And as you know, no mage has ever been able to wield more than one element at the same time. In one spell. Dual casting is a concept that we are very far from reaching."

Clay was day dreaming during the lesson, but he had snapped back into reality when he heard that.

"Dual casting?"

He had never heard of it before.

"See, someone can use two different spells of the same element or two different augments. And they can combine spells. But they can't use two completely separate spells in separate elements at the same time. You can't have a fireball in your right and a lightning bolt in your left. Even though we've tried. It's simply not possible. Moving on."

Once the topic dissipated, Clay had no interest in the rest of the lesson. After the class ended. Mr.Faroth told him to stay after class for a bit and spoke to him directly.

"Clay, have you ever heard of the echoes of the kings of Valyeria?"

"No…not at all, why?"

"Well, you see, back then, the first king made a deal with the god of light. Giving him the ability to create an 'echo' of his strongest abilities. Increasing their power. And allowing him to pass his abilities on generation to generation. But it all stopped when the 10th king came around. But nobody knows why. The kings continued to produce echos, they just couldn't pass them on."

"What does this have to do with me?"

"Im getting to it. You might not know this, but during the current kings reign, there was a Great War between humans and Wyrms, such as dragons, and serpents. The king manifested his echo, Skyshatterer, a greatbow which allowed him to come to a stalemate in the war with a mighty lightning magic. And was able to come to a truce with dragons. But, the 3rd kings echo was the crystallian sword. A sword of pure light that gave off a radiant shine. It has come to my belief, you are in possession of the sword."

"What? How could I…?"

Clay looked at the sword, it was a white shiny sword that gave off a radiant glow. But it couldn't be.
