Chapter 48 – Why was Lu Lixing still alive? (4)

Ji Qingqing remained puzzled about Lu Lixing’s condition even after thinking it over many times. From her peripheral vision, she saw Lu Lixing walking down the stairs and over to her.

Ji Qingqing pretended she was busy eating. She didn’t want to talk to him.

Lu Lixing looked at the silent Ji Qingqing, who had her head lowered to eat, and quietly said, “I’m going to the hospital later. You might as well come too.”

Remembering his good morning kiss, Ji Qingqing refused, “I don’t want to go.”

Elder Lu had followed Lu Lixing downstairs. Hearing Ji Qingqing’s reply, he kindly smiled at her and asked, “Qingqing, how about we go to the hospital together after breakfast?”

Ji Qingqing swallowed the milk in her mouth. She couldn’t refuse Elder Lu’s request. She could only glare at Lu Lixing.

“Okay, Elder Lu.”

About an hour later, they arrived at the hospital and Lu Lixing went to get a full body examination done. Elder Lu had contacted Head Doctor Chen and scheduled this in advance.

Ji Qingqing and Elder Lu waited in Head Doctor Chen’s office for the results.

Elder Lu silently turned the Buddhist prayer beads in his hand.

“Elder Lu, don’t worry. Mr. Lu has been in good health these past few days. Perhaps… a miracle will occur.

Elder Lu stopped counting the prayer beads, and he turned his kind gaze towards Ji Qingqing. “Do you really believe that a miracle will happen to Lixing?”

“Of course!” Good people don’t live long, but villains will live for a thousand years.

Elder Lu nodded. “Yes, with you here, Lixing will definitely miraculously recover.”

Ji Qingqing knew that Elder Lu was thinking about the superstitious belief that getting married would bring a sickly person good luck. She didn’t say anything extra. Elderly people would feel better if they had more to hope for.

About an hour later, the examination was complete, and a nurse came to lead them over to an examination room.

In the examination room, Lu Lixing was putting on the shirt he had taken off. One by one, he buttoned his shirt. His strong abdominal muscles could be faintly seen.

Ji Qingqing felt as if a herd of horses were galloping through her head. She thought of that fuzzy feeling from this morning.

On the side, Head Doctor Chen was flipping through Lu Lixing’s examination report. The head doctor furrowed his brow many times as he looked over the series of data. His face showed his surprise.

Head Doctor Chen glanced at Lu Lixing and quietly said to Elder Lu, “Elder Lu, how about we go out into the corridor to discuss?”

However, Lu Lixing coldy said, “Say it here.”

Elder Lu glanced at Lu Lixing and nodded.

“When Mr. Lu was brought to the hospital after his car accident, his injuries were very serious, especially his heart, lungs, and kidneys. He was on his way to organ failure. After a month of treatment… other than some slight weakness, Mr. Lu… He…” The head doctor gulped. “His condition has already made a turn for the better.”

This type of situation was already beyond the scope of a miracle… This was simply unimaginably freakish!

Head Doctor Chen had been practising medicine for so many years and had seen all sorts of hard-to-treat cases, but he had never seen such a bizarre condition.

Before Lu Lixing had been discharged for the hospital three days ago, several examinations had been done and the results showed that he was on his way to total organ failure. He had almost reached a dead end. But, in the span of three short days and without any further medical treatment, he started to miraculously recover. If this news spread, it would shock the entire medical community.

Head Doctor Chen felt that Lu Lixing’s recovery had directly smashed into pieces the knowledge of the human body that he had gained in his forty plus years as a doctor.

With a trembling hand, the doctor pushed up his gold-rimmed glasses to conceal how stirred up he was feeling.

However, Elder Lu, who was holding his prayer bead, mysteriously smiled at Ji Qingqing. “There is a higher power!”

After hearing Head Doctor Chen’s words, Ji Qingqing froze in place. It felt as if she had been struck by lighting.

He’s going to live?

He had gotten better?

As in recovered?

Won’t die?

Not only would she not have to observe the customary rituals and traditions as a widow, she had also gained a long-living husband?
