-Wellston High School-

[Seraphina's P.O.V]

John.

He's... interesting to say the least.

I still remember when I wanted to take that cake of his hands and... he dodged? I hadn't met anyone capable of moving during my timestop in a long time, except maybe my mother who was far older and more experienced than I was despite the gap having been reduced significantly.

In fact, last I had checked I was a 7.0 high-tier (A/N: I discovered recently that Uru never used the term god-tier within the plot of the story lol) and while being stronger than that wasn't impossible, far from it actually, exhibiting the level of power he did was rare, comparable to one in multiple million, if not even more.

That coupled with the confidenced that oozed from him as he tried to passively talk his way out of a fight showed that he knew or at least believed, that he had the stronger ability. After all, only the strong could be pacifists, if they chose to. What better way to stop a conflict than to be stronger than your opponent.

Considering I hadn't gotten any idea of what kind of ability he possesed, I went against my reserved facade and approached the Headmaster; Vaughn in order to investigate with increased depth. The results where shocking, to say the least.

"Nine point zero?" I uttered in disbelief. I never encountered such a powerful person before.

Channel Master? That must be an ability that focuses on aura channels.

*Ring**ring*

After answering I realized it was Arlo

He called me because he had been challenged for his title by John. This was the perfect opportunity to gather some information on him and his ability.

___

What?!

He destroyed Arlo's barrier with a single hit!

Even I need multiple to do so. But then again, he wouldn't be a 9.0 if that was the case. And he seemed to be using a rather familiar ability... my ability?! What??? Is that his ability? He has the same as mine? But we're not related? Right?

"Well that's settled, John is the new king of Wellston from now on. Arlo will be demoted to Jack and Cecile is no longer a Royal. You don't mind? right Cecile?" I asked rhetorically making sure to conceal my surprise.

(The next day)

-Wellston High School-

While walking down the corridors of towards my next class, minding my own business, I heard a familiar voiced call out to me.

"Seraphina!"

I stopped before swiflty turning to acknowledge who ever had called me.

John! The guy was lightly jogging towards me. Once he arrived besides me, I greeted him with a short nod, whilst showcasing little emotion.

"Hi John," I said.

"Hey, I was just thinking, why don't you come hang out with me and my friends after school? You know, to get to know each other better. What do you say? I know a nice spot." He smiled cheeckily

"Sorry, I have a bu of homework to do afterwards..." I flatly stated before walking away.

"Me too! But it can wait right?" He exclaimed.

"Besides aren't you like the smartest person in this school? I keep hearing people talking about how you are a perfect straight A student that always gets praised as THE perfect role model by the professors. Having one hour or two less to complete homework shouldn't be too troublesome right?" He argued while following.

He did raise some pretty good points though- wait no no no. If I want to maintain my perfect streak, I need to be consistent. Consistency is the key to perfection, I can't have other people tempt me to do less than what can be done.

"Sorry but I still can't, in fact you should do the same. From what I hear others you have mediocre grades yourself. I don't want to be like that."

"..." He seemed surprised to hear what I said.

"You really love studying don't you..." He chuckled. "Welp I can't stop you from doing what you want right."

"My offer still stands, if you don't want to have a discussion with me as a fellow student of the same High School, you can still talk to me as a fellow high ranker. Your goal seems to be perfection, but being perfect isn't just about perfect grades and a powerful ability. But then again since I'm not perfect what could I know about perfection, right?"

I narrowed my eyes at him, I'm already perfect... In a nation composed of hundreds of millions of inhabitants, I am part of the few three to four hundred individuals who's ability levels are 6.0 and above, in fact, in this very School which is considered by many as the top high school in the region and one of the best establishment in the country, there are only three students who reach that level. The others being Arlo and... John. Maybe he knew what he was talking about... One doesn't reach that level easily.

And my mother also told me to at least get acquainted with my fellow powerhouse peers, if I fumbled to connect with a 9.0, no matter how annoying he is... She would still be furious.

"Sure maybe another time, I have class right now though so can I go," I finished before leaving without waiting for his answer.

I sighed inwardly, John... You're lucky you're so strong, otherwise I would put you in the infirmary everyday. Or maybe not?

(A few hours later)

[Adrion's P.O.V]

"Claire did you understand a word of what the professor was saying? I didn't understand a thing." Elia informed us.

I chuckled, Elia wasn't the sharpest tool in the box but hey.

"What do we have here, a bunch of low tiers who can't shut up?" a new voice made itself known.

Turning around to meet its owner, I was faced with a green-haired, blue-eyed male teenager.

"Guys, let's just avoid him," I uttered a little nervous. I had already gotten my ass kicked on the first days by that Zeke guy and I wanted to avoid another scuffle.

"Where do you think you're going? I haven't taught you a lesson yet so why are you leaving?"
