-Wellston High school-
(One day later)
[John's P.O.V]
It was Monday and it was the end of classes. Our little squad, composed of Adrion, Claire, Elia and myself exited the high school intending to go back to my place.
"Hey John! You didn't forget about me did you?" A voice sounded from behind them.
As we turned around to investigate the origin of said male voice, we saw Arlo walking at a leisurely pace, Elia getting flustered.
"Is that the king? I hung out with you guys for barely even a week and you've already seen and met the king and queen of Wellston! Talk about being lucky… or unlucky?" Elia squealed like a little fangirl.
"Why are you acting like this, do you have a crush on him or something?" Claire wondered, her curiosity peaked.
"Whaaat! No no no, of course not. What makes you say that?" The flustered second year tried to defend herself.
"Arlo, how are you doing?" I asked, finally getting a word out.
"Good, We were supposed to meet up for the rank match you challenged me to," He scolded.
"Weeell, I may have forgotten, good thing you were there to remind me huh." I smiled at him, annoying him even further than he already was.
"Nevermind, let's go."
"Can my friends come?" I inquired. It was then and only then, that the blonde haired teenager finally took notice of the small group standing next to me, his eyebrows slightly scrunching up before he finally announced:
"Sure, why not."

-Wellston turf war grounds-
(A few minutes later)
[Narrator's P.OV]
"Elaine, there you are. John, this is Elaine, our school's strongest healer. Over there is Seraphina; our queen who I think you've already met, and next to her is Cecile; our Jack," Arlo introduced.
Elia was sweating bullets, reconsidering her actions
'Maybe coming here was a bad idea after all,' she thought to herself.
Adrion and Claire were a little more composed, but were still on edge. Their trust in their childhood friend and the experience of going to turf wars with him helping them maintain their cool.
Wellston's turf war grounds was a vast plain filled with nothing other than concrete and small stones, the perfect area for battles between powerful high-tiers.
Seraphina came in the middle of both Arlo and John with her, until now, characteristic bored look.
"The first one to get knocked out or to concede will lose. Ready… Start!"
Immediately, both activated their abilities, with John taking this time to copy Arlo's barrier whilst the latter used his signature move. Arlo quickly created a barrier around John before closing his fist causing the barrier to shrink at a decent pace. John tested the barrier opting to not immediately finish the fight and hitting the glowing yellow sphere only using his basic ability enhancement.
This move resulted in an unharmed barrier and a bloody arm, which barely hindered the aura user.
Arlo narrowed his eyes in suspicion; 'Did he lie about his level? No, that can't be it, that would be a stupid move on his part. He must be testing me.' The blue-eyed man thought to himself.
"That's some pretty strong defence you have there, Arlo."
*Crack*
The boy in question lifted his hand to his chest as he coughed up a mouthful of blood. His barrier had been shattered in a single hit by his opponent right after the latter healed his arm. Seeing this Arlo decided to concede since he was no fool. If John could break his barrier in one hit and heal from the subsequent reflective damage in such a small time frame, then the battle was lost before it even began.
"I forfeit," The barrier wielder stated solemnly.
Elaine quickly rushed to his side, activating her ability to bring him back into shape.
"It didn't take much for you to bow," Cecile taunted.
"Cecile, don't push your luck."
"Well that's settled, John is the new king of Wellston from now on, Arlo will be demoted to Jack and Cecile is no longer a royal, you don't mind, right Cecile?" Seraphina asked rhetorically, the teal-haired girl looking not saying anything in response. The purple haired beauty then declared. "I have nothing to do here anymore, see you all at school."
"Arlo, you wanna stick with us and get a drink?" John proposed.
The former king of Wellston was all healed up thanks to Elaine, who looked pretty tired, courtesy of the severity of his injuries (A/N: She isn't an Elite-tier yet so it's harder to heal him.)
"I would love to… but I'll pass. Maybe next time," he said.
"That's too bad, you're missing out," John continued but received no answer.
'He probably doesn't want to be seen with low and mid-tiers,' He deduced.

-Famous boba shop in Wellston-
"That was so cool. The way you said 'That's some pretty strong defence you have there Arlo' and then you just shattered that thing in one hit-." Elia praised
"Ok ok, stop glazing and kiss him already," Claire said, a little annoyed.
"Mhmmm, You just can't beat mango boba." John said whilst drinking a sizable portion of his drink.
