Chapter 46: Chapter 45: A Visit to a Faraway Land (1)
The morning after the fiasco in the Hyuga Compound, Naruto was busy analyzing the Fuinjutsu scroll he had found in the ruins during his mission to the Land of Waves.
He had been working on it for a long time but still couldn't figure out its mystery.
"Is that the scroll you talked about?" came the curious voice of Hisoka from behind Naruto as he remained engrossed in the scroll.
"Yes, big sis. But I still can't figure out what it is."
"Hmm, can I see it?"
"Ah, yes, sure."
Naruto handed the scroll to Hisoka. She was just about to open it when he quickly stopped her.
"Wait a moment, big sis. There's some sort of ghoul inside the scroll, so let me activate the security measures in the room."
"Yes, yes, you did say something about that. Now I'm even more curious to see it."
After making a few arrangements regarding safety, Hisoka and Naruto went ahead and opened the scroll. A dementor came out of it. A terrifying chill spread throughout the room.
Naruto was immune to the dementor's mental effects, and even Hisoka was faring quite well. She only felt a fleeting wave of sadness washing over her, but it didn't affect her much.
"That is a horrible creature, dattebane!" came the voice of a frightened Kushina. "It looks even more disgusting than that fox."
Minato and Kushina were also able to see from the sealed space and what they saw even frightened them for a moment. Though they were not affected by the dementor, its appearance unsettled them.
"We have no records or stories about this type of creature, I am also curious about it," Minato added as he too wanted to know the mystery behind the creature.
"Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban!" Hisoka's excited voice also echoed in the room as she immediately recognized the creature from her favourite book.
"But what is it doing in the real world, I thought it was a made-up monster by you." Her voice gradually turned serious from excitement as she also couldn't understand the existence of this creature outside the book.
"Don't ask me. I was as surprised as you are."
"Naruto, what does she mean by made-up monster?" asked Minato as he was even more curious now.
"It's nothing, I just made up a fantasy monster for one of my books and this creature here matches that monster. Rather than that, how about we focus more on the problem at hand?"
The dementor, seemingly aware it was being ignored, reached for Hisoka. She vanished and reappeared near Naruto, avoiding its grasp.
The creature then turned to Naruto but hesitated, sensing something familiar. It retreated cautiously as if remembering its prior sealing by Naruto.
"This is a dangerous creature Naruto. Don't let him roam around freely.
Now let's look at this scroll." Hisoka started studying the scroll after the dementor backed down.
Several hours passed as both Hisoka and Naruto examined it.
Naruto sensed something and stood up just as the door opened, revealing Hinata.
"Still busy with the scroll?" asked Hinata.
"Yes, what about you, how did things go at Hyuga compound, I didn't get any warning from my clone?"
"Father already spoke with the Hokage. It's decided—the offenders will remain locked inside the compound. Further action will be taken after the Chunin Exams and your fanfest. I agreed to it. You know why, right?"
Hinata winked at Naruto, to ensure no one else caught on their meaning. Naruto immediately understood what she meant.
Hinata was waiting for the Third Hokage's death, knowing it would remove a major obstacle.
"Hey Hinata, can you help us with our study here? "
"Sure Naruto, what do want me to do?"
"Can you use your Byakugan on that creature?"
"Hey! That's a good idea. Why didn't I think about it?" Hisoka also agreed with this plan, as Byakugan could help reveal more insights into that creature.
"Ok, I will try now." Without any delay, Hinata activated her Byakugan and focused on the dementor.
"What do you see, Hinata?"
"It's... dark. I can't see through it. It feels sinister like something terrible is hidden in that darkness... something that could devour me."
"That's enough, Hinata! Stop!
Don't use you Byakugan on that creature again." Naruto immediately stopped her with a stern voice.
'If this is really a dementor, it might have a connection to Death itself. That was careless of me to ask Hinata to pry into it,' he thought, silently scolding himself.
"What happened, Naruto? Did you figure something out?" Hinata asked, startled by his sudden reaction. Even Hisoka, Minato, and Kushina were caught off guard.
"No, I haven't figured out anything. But Hinata, remember this: if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you. Don't overdo it."
There was silence for a few moments after that.
"What about the scroll big sis, you also found something in that scroll, didn't you?" Naruto asked, breaking the silence
"Not much, but from my understanding of the space laws, it is some sort of summoning scroll. I can feel the spatial energy inside it, but without knowing the seals on it, I can't say anything more."
"Summoning huh, maybe I should try inserting some chakra and see what it summons."
"Are you sure you want to do that, it can be dangerous."
"Don't worry, this room is very spacious and secure. The barriers around are extremely strong.
And if something happens, you are a master of space, so you can help us escape."
"Ok, but be careful."
"Naruto ..." Hinata wanted to stop Naruto, she started feeling uneasy at the prospect of this idea, but didn't know what to say.
"Don't worry Hinata, I'll be fine."
"But.."
"I'll be fine." Naruto held Hinata's hand reassuringly before moving ahead towards the scroll.
"Be careful, Son." Both Minato and Kushina also asked him to be careful.
Naruto grabbed the scroll and started channelling chakra into it, but nothing happened.
'Not enough chakra? Or do I need to use blood? No, this thing is too creepy. I won't risk blood unless it's absolutely necessary. Let's try Kurama's chakra,' Naruto thought, activating the seal to draw on the Nine-Tails' chakra. He poured it into the scroll.
At first, there was no response, but after he continued pouring the chakra, a bright light shined through it.
It blinded everyone present in the room. As the light dimmed, a dark, intricate seal spread across the floor beneath Naruto.
Before anyone can comprehend what was happening, suddenly with a loud bang, Naruto vanished from the place.
Both Hisoka and Hinata couldn't do anything. There was silence in the room. Only the scroll remained in the place while Naruto had already vanished.
"Narutooooo!" Hinata screamed in panic.
Meanwhile, Hisoka also tried to look around to find where Naruto went, but even with her mastery of space laws, she couldn't get a clue.
