Chapter 56: Chapter 55
Morin politely declined Bisky's "generous" offer of financial assistance, as well as Pakunoda's willingness to help.
"I have my own way to handle this," he said confidently.
"What way? Keep in mind, you need to dedicate yourself entirely to your training. You can't let making money get in the way," Bisky warned.
"Of course," Morin replied, smiling. "Training Nen is always my top priority. It's just that I recently acquired a new tool that will take care of everything."
"A new tool?"
Bisky's curiosity was piqued. The only things that ever gave Morin this much confidence were his bizarre but undeniably useful gadgets.
Morin pulled out his latest acquisition: a yellow object with two labeled windows, "Deposit" and "Borrow." It resembled a miniature bank counter.
"This is the Compound Interest Bank."
Bisky inspected the gadget skeptically. "A bank tool? Is it about generating interest on savings?"
"Pretty much," Morin explained. "It's more powerful than any real bank you've seen. Watch this."
He placed his lone 10 Jenny coin into the Deposit slot. The coin was sucked in, and a robotic voice greeted him:
"Welcome to the Compound Interest Bank. Thank you for using our services!"
A small savings passbook popped out of the machine, earning another surprised reaction from Bisky.
"Seriously," she remarked, flipping through the passbook, "you're like a walking treasure chest of strange gadgets. It's like traveling with a multifunctional robot!"
"Alright, how much interest does this bank offer?" she asked casually, focusing on the passbook. "Normal banks offer a little extra convenience or higher interest rates; I assume it's similar?"
"Not quite," Morin corrected. "This is Compound Interest Bank, where savings grow at 10% interest per hour."
Item: Compound Interest Bank
Effect:
Deposits accrue 10% compound interest every hour. A small amount can snowball into a fortune within days.Loans charge 20% compound interest per hour until repaid in full. Failure to repay promptly can lead to devastating debt.
"Ten percent per hour?"
Bisky did the mental math. "That's… how much again?"
"Let me help," Morin said. "For example, depositing 10 Jenny:
After one hour, it becomes 11 Jenny. Two hours later, it's 12.1 Jenny.Three hours later, it's 13.31 Jenny. After eight hours, it doubles to 20 Jenny. In one day, it grows to 100 Jenny."
"That's just a hundred Jenny," Bisky shrugged dismissively, unimpressed.
Morin couldn't help but think, She's amazing in many ways, but math clearly isn't her strong suit.
What Bisky overlooked was the exponential growth. While 100 Jenny seemed modest, it had multiplied tenfold in just one day. If the deposit had been 100, 1,000, or even 10,000 Jenny, the results would be astronomical.
Morin mused silently: Does Doraemon's world not worry about its economy? A tool like this would collapse financial systems, trigger runaway inflation, and destroy currency stability!
"So, how long do you plan to leave this 10 Jenny in the bank?" Bisky asked lazily, lying on her bed.
"I'll let it sit for a week," Morin replied, putting the passbook away for safekeeping.
"And how much will you have after that?" she asked absentmindedly, fiddling with her golden ponytail.
"Nine million Jenny."
"…What?"
"Nine million," Morin repeated nonchalantly.
Thud!
Bisky fell off her bed in shock.
"N-N-Nine million?!"
Even Pakunoda, startled by the figure, instinctively covered her ears.
"That's right," Morin said with a calm smile.
"In just a week?!" Bisky's jaw dropped. "This isn't just outrageous—it's straight-up robbery!"
"No," she corrected herself, shaking her head furiously. "This is faster than robbery!"
Bisky's expression turned uncharacteristically serious as she stared at Morin. "You're not joking, right?"
"What do you think?" he asked, grinning slyly.
