Chapter 48: Chapter 48: What Exactly Are These Two Demons Planning?
Seeing the murderous intent in the three people's eyes, Bronya immediately chose the most straightforward course of action: to run away.
However, it was futile.
Due to a past accident, Bronya's legs are unable to walk, so she wears a kind of exoskeleton armor on her legs.
Usually, this exoskeleton allows her to float in the air or assist with running. But comparatively speaking, this thing is slow when it comes to flying.
So, if Bronya wanted to escape now, relying on this sluggish speed would be akin to seeking death.
If she wanted to run, she would have to switch to the walking assistance mode.
But here's the problem: even with the exoskeleton, Bronya's legs can't regain the mobility they once had, so she can't increase her speed. Additionally, forced walking is extremely painful for her.
And over here... there are three people with normal legs: two super soldiers and one with speed-boosting running shoes.
Li Huan, quick and sharp, caught Bronya by the scruff of her neck before she could get far.
Realizing she was caught, Bronya instinctively pulled out her handgun, turned around, and started firing at Li Huan's abdomen.
But it was meaningless.
The bullets hit Li Huan's abdomen, but they didn't even penetrate his sweater.
"Take your time, keep shooting," Li Huan grinned savagely. "I can stand here all day. But however many bullets you fire, I'll be sure to collect that many in return from you."
Hearing this, Bronya really did stop shooting.
It wasn't that she was scared by Li Huan's threat, but she realized that a man who isn't afraid of a machine gun certainly wouldn't fear a mere handgun.
Project Bunny 19C, come back and protect me.
She used her mind to command the Project Bunny, trying to have it return and save her.
The Project Bunny, as a combat weapon, usually stays in an energy state and only becomes solid when needed.
Now, all she needed to do was order it to return to its energy form and then back to its solid state to rescue her.
On the other side, the Project Bunny, still stuck to the wall by Tom's magnet, received the command and tried to revert to its energy form to escape.
But it was useless.
This time, the magnet's force was like a black hole. No matter how the Project Bunny tried to turn into energy, it couldn't do it and remained stuck to the wall, helpless.
Outside, Tom seemed to sense the Project Bunny's movements and frowned.
It looked like this big monster was still being disobedient—it needed a little lesson.
Tom grabbed the magnet and gave it a hard tug.
The Project Bunny's head smashed into the ceiling with a heavy thud.
And it didn't stop there. Tom then moved the magnet downward, and the Project Bunny slammed hard into the floor, creating a small dent.
Tom continued to move the magnet frantically up and down, and the Project Bunny was continuously slammed up and down in response.
After a few more rounds of this, the Project Bunny hung limp, much more subdued.
But Tom didn't stop; he seemed to be getting a kick out of it, moving the magnet around non-stop.
The Project Bunny's body moved with the magnet, sometimes forced to do a strange butt-shaking dance, or sometimes spinning around a few times before being slammed heavily to the ground.
This undignified and pitiful sight was naturally seen by Bronya.
"Project Bunny… Why is this happening..."
Seeing her Project Bunny in such a miserable state, something unprecedented threw Bronya into a state of confusion.
Meanwhile, Kiana and Mei had also approached Bronya.
"Good timing, you two," Li Huan said as he twisted Bronya's arms behind her back. "Search her and take all the weapons off her."
After all, Bronya was still a girl. If Li Huan were to frisk her, it might give the wrong impression to the female teammates present. It was better to let them do it.
The two nodded and began to search Bronya.
They took all the weapons off Bronya, even going so far as to dismantle her leg exoskeleton, leaving her completely defenseless and as harmless as any ordinary young girl.
"You can surrender now," Kiana said seriously, pointing her gun at Bronya's forehead. "Confession is leniency, resistance is severity. Who exactly are you, and why did you attack us?"
Bronya ignored Kiana's questions, treating her as if she were air.
"Looking closely, she's just a very young girl," Mei said as she approached Bronya. "Why would such a young child want to kill us?"
Li Huan shrugged. "I have no idea, but I think we might need to use some enhanced interrogation methods."
"Wait, what do you mean by enhanced interrogation?" Kiana asked, frowning at Bronya. "You're not planning to do something you shouldn't, are you?"
"What are you thinking? I would never do anything inappropriate," Li Huan rolled his eyes at Kiana, then picked Bronya up and started walking toward the Project Bunny.
When he got in front of the Project Bunny, despite it being severely battered, it still let out a threatening growl when it saw Li Huan holding Bronya.
Unfazed by the growl, Li Huan calmly asked Bronya, "So your big toy can make noise?"
"Correction, it's not just a big toy," Bronya, still maintaining her cold assassin demeanor, replied, "It has a name—Project Bunny 19C."
"Whatever," Li Huan said indifferently. "It doesn't matter what it's called. Neither it nor you pose any threat to me anymore."
He walked into the storage room, where he saw Tom holding the magnet that had trapped the Project Bunny.
Seeing his master approach, Tom immediately saluted, indicating that he had completed the task successfully.
"Well done, Tom," Li Huan patted Tom's head. "But I have one more task for you."
Li Huan leaned in and whispered into Tom's ear.
After listening, Tom showed a knowing expression, then gave Li Huan a somewhat evil grin.
Li Huan returned the same evil smile.
Seeing the sinister smiles on Li Huan and Tom's faces, Bronya couldn't help but feel a chill run down her spine.
What exactly are these two demons planning?
