Chapter 76: Chapter 76 - Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto
Chapter 76 - Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto
Muramasa remained silent.
He had known that Gilgamesh had ulterior motives for him, so he wasn't surprised.
However, his ideals, his dreams remained unfulfilled, and he hadn't even found his master, Kōga Kuchiki. How could he willingly submit to someone else?
Even if that person was the so-called oldest hero king of humanity, possessing the so-called king of Zanpakutō.
Despite his unwillingness, Muramasa had no other choice unless he wanted to die.
He didn't doubt that Gilgamesh could kill him.
The power of Kennō was overwhelming for any Zanpakutō.
Reflecting on it now, Gilgamesh had only introduced Kennō's Shikai ability, not its Bankai.
Does Gilgamesh not know Bankai?
Muramasa quickly dismissed the thought.
In his view, Gilgamesh must know Bankai. He probably didn't mention it because he thought Shikai was enough to handle him.
This reality deeply hurt his pride, yet Muramasa had to admit it.
He had tried to comfort himself by thinking Gilgamesh was exaggerating Kennō's capabilities, including Bankai's abilities.
But then he remembered the abilities Kennō had displayed—Reishi Restoration and Reishi Creation.
These abilities were not part of the Shikai introduction.
Muramasa guessed these abilities might be related to Kennō's Bankai.
Amidst his tangled thoughts, Muramasa took a deep breath. He never expected that his mission to brainwash and recruit an ally would result in his own entrapment.
Reluctantly, he knelt on one knee and said, "I am willing to submit."
Gilgamesh's face lit up with a pleased smile.
Through the Omniscient Star, Gilgamesh saw into Muramasa's mind.
He knew Muramasa hadn't truly submitted, and the system notification hadn't triggered.
Muramasa still harbored thoughts of biding his time, planning to find Kōga's seal while pretending to cooperate with Gilgamesh.
Muramasa wouldn't willingly die without finding Kōga.
Gilgamesh wasn't bothered by this. Once under his command, Muramasa would eventually submit wholeheartedly.
This wasn't due to Gilgamesh's ego but the inherent confidence from his inherent skill—Charisma A+.
As he rose, a golden ripple appeared out of thin air, and Gilgamesh's golden throne was retracted, leaving Muramasa understanding how it had appeared.
But this birthed new questions—what was that golden ripple? Was it also part of Kennō's power?
Gilgamesh offered no explanations and said, "You know, my ideals are quite similar to yours."
In Muramasa's confused gaze, Gilgamesh continued, "I plan to conquer Soul Society and create a new nation without nobility, where everyone is equal."
"So, I need your power to assist me."
Then, in Muramasa's astonished eyes, Gilgamesh added, "As for Kōga Kuchiki, I will help you find him."
"But you must be prepared—Kōga is not the same as in your memories."
"When he was sealed, he did call out to you, but his voice never reached you."
These words struck Muramasa like an earthquake, causing him to tremble violently.
Muramasa knew he couldn't hear Kōga because Kōga had closed off his heart to him.
This truth was too devastating, making Muramasa seem possessed, constantly denying it: "No, Kōga wouldn't do that. There must be some mistake."
Though Muramasa believed Gilgamesh, he refused to accept it.
Gilgamesh shook his head and said, "You'll verify it yourself when the time comes."
"On your behalf, I will give Kōga a chance. Whether he can seize it depends on him."
With that, Gilgamesh left with Yoruichi in his arms, and Kennō returned to Gilgamesh's inner world.
Before leaving, Gilgamesh left Muramasa with one last instruction: "Before finding Kōga, you can go to the 78th District of South Rukongai, Inuzuri. There, I am establishing the initial nation of Uruk."
Muramasa stood dazed for a long time after Gilgamesh's departure.
Gazing at the lone stone throne, Muramasa's feelings were mixed.
To Muramasa, Gilgamesh seemed to possess an inexplicable allure, compelling him to learn more about him.
With that, Muramasa vanished into the void, leaving only a whisper behind.
"South Rukongai, 78th District, Inuzuri..."
"Let's see for myself."
Meanwhile, after parting ways with Muramasa, Gilgamesh returned to the training grounds for the Shunpo class.
Renji and Rukia were diligently practicing Shunpo. Gilgamesh didn't disturb them, instead sitting in a nearby pavilion.
On the way back, Gilgamesh had explained Kōga Kuchiki and Muramasa's past to Yoruichi.
Upon hearing the story, Yoruichi's expression turned serious. "My lord, you must be careful of the higher-ups now. If they couldn't tolerate Muramasa, they won't tolerate Kennō either."
Yoruichi was well aware of the tendencies of Soul Society's upper echelons.
Gilgamesh nodded lightly and then requested, "Yoruichi, please go to the World of the Living and ask Kisuke Urahara to help find Kōga's seal in Karakura Town."
For Yoruichi, this was a small task.
But she didn't immediately agree, instead looking at Gilgamesh with concern.
Byakuya knew about Kennō's power, so it was only a matter of time before Yamamoto and the Central 46 knew.
This meant trouble would soon come knocking.
If she left now, it would leave Gilgamesh alone.
Especially if Yamamoto held any prejudice against Kennō, Gilgamesh could be in danger.
In Yoruichi's knowledge, she didn't believe Gilgamesh could defeat Yamamoto.
Not that Gilgamesh wasn't strong, but Yamamoto was too powerful.
Meanwhile, in the First Division captain's office, Yamamoto listened to Byakuya's report. After a moment of silence, his half-closed eyes opened slightly, and he said gravely, "Chōjirō, go and bring Gilgamesh. I want to see him."
