Chapter 73: Chapter 73 - Kneel!
Chapter 73 - Kneel!
"Ah...ah..."
Yoruichi opened her mouth wide but couldn't utter a word, her eyes darting back and forth between Gilgamesh and Kennō.
The more she looked, the more she saw the striking resemblance between them.
No, it was as if they were carved from the same mold; even their noble aura was identical.
The only difference was that Kennō appeared as a grown-up version of Gilgamesh.
As Gilgamesh gently stroked Yoruichi, he looked at Kennō and remarked, "I'm glad you chose to appear as my Wise King self."
"If you had chosen to appear as my Tyrant self, I wouldn't want to see you."
Kennō smiled slightly, about to speak when Muramasa interrupted, "Don't waste time with him."
"You've likely attracted the attention of the higher-ups; we need to leave quickly."
Muramasa turned to leave, but out of the corner of his eye, he saw Kennō walking towards Gilgamesh.
Frowning, Muramasa turned to Kennō and urged, "Do you want to settle things with him? If so, hurry up, we don't have much time."
Kennō seemed to ignore Muramasa's words, walking up to Gilgamesh and bowing slightly, respectfully saying, "My King."
Gilgamesh waved his hand lightly, "There's no need for that between us. Besides, it's weird to have someone with my face bowing to me."
"Alright, come sit beside me."
Then, as if he thought of something, Gilgamesh asked, "Do you need me to give you a seat?"
Kennō shook his head slightly, walked over to Gilgamesh's side, and extended his hand toward the nearby forest.
The next moment, the trees began to revert to their original spiritual particle state, converging toward Kennō.
Then, these spiritual particles gathered on the open ground before Kennō, forming an ancient, simple stone throne.
Kennō then sat on the stone throne.
This sight caused Muramasa and Yoruichi to tremble inwardly.
Kennō had done something only Quincies could do—returning a tree composed of spiritual particles back to its spiritual particle state.
As for creating something from spiritual particles afterward, that was something only high-level Kido could achieve.
For example, Bakudō #75: Gochūtekkan creates five iron pillars from spiritual particles to pin down an opponent's head and limbs, rendering them immobile.
But Kennō had mastered both Quincy and Shinigami powers on his own, which shocked them to the core.
As for Gilgamesh, he looked at the stone throne with a sense of nostalgia.
This stone throne was the very one he had used while ruling the Kingdom of Uruk.
At this moment, Yoruichi finally snapped out of her daze.
Looking at Kennō seated beside her on the stone throne, her expression showed clear disbelief. She couldn't help but ask, "My King, who is he? Why does he resemble your Wise King self?"
Yoruichi had studied Gilgamesh's history and had read the "Epic of Gilgamesh."
So she knew about the Wise King period of Gilgamesh.
Gilgamesh did not answer but instead glanced at Kennō.
Kennō, as if granted permission, smiled and said to Yoruichi, "Miss Yoruichi, this is indeed our first formal meeting."
"Allow me to introduce myself. I am Kennō, the Zanpakutō of my master."
Yoruichi's mind went blank for a moment. She never expected this answer.
She knew about Kennō, but how could it materialize in front of her?
Was it an ability of Kennō's Bankai?
But Yoruichi couldn't sense the spiritual pressure that would accompany a Bankai.
Muramasa also snapped out of his daze, his eyes narrowing as he glared at Kennō, demanding, "What are you doing? Why aren't you attacking him?"
Gilgamesh's face showed a playful smile, but he said nothing.
Kennō looked at Muramasa with calm crimson eyes and asked, "Why should I attack the King?"
"Why?"
Muramasa was taken aback, his face showing confusion.
Since his creation, Muramasa had never encountered a situation like this, nor had he ever heard another brainwashed Zanpakutō ask him "why."
In Muramasa's view, there was no "why" because his ability was to make Zanpakutō turn against their masters.
However, Muramasa couldn't reveal the reason.
A brainwashed Zanpakutō could only be restored in two ways.
The first was if Muramasa himself confessed to the Zanpakutō that it had been deceived.
The second was if the master forced their Zanpakutō to submit once again.
If Muramasa revealed the reason, it would fall under the first method.
At that moment, Muramasa seemed to realize something and looked at Gilgamesh with a mixture of suspicion and fear.
If the first method was impossible, then the only explanation for Kennō's return to normal was the second method.
This meant that in such a short time, Kennō had submitted to Gilgamesh once again.
Muramasa's mind was racing, trying to recall the details of what had just happened to understand how Gilgamesh had managed to make Kennō submit once again.
But no matter how hard Muramasa tried, he couldn't figure out how Gilgamesh had done it.
Gilgamesh had done nothing, said nothing, merely watched silently.
It was impossible that Kennō had submitted to Gilgamesh just by looking at him, right?
As Muramasa's mind raced, Gilgamesh chuckled, "Is it possible that Kennō was never brainwashed by you in the first place?"
Without thinking, Muramasa replied, "Impossible. If Kennō wasn't brainwashed, how could it have materialized here?"
As he spoke, Muramasa suddenly realized something, his face showing horror as he looked at Gilgamesh with disbelief, "You can read my thoughts?"
In that instant, Muramasa's wariness of Gilgamesh soared to the highest level, a strong sense of unease filling him.
Without hesitation, Muramasa decided to retreat for now.
As Muramasa's form began to fade into the void, Kennō opened his mouth slightly and declared, "Kneel!"
Thud!
Muramasa immediately fell to his knees, his pupils trembling violently, his face filled with disbelief.
