In Bleach as Gilgamesh

Chapter 42: Chapter 42 - The Ultimate Noble Phantasm

Chapter 42 - The Ultimate Noble Phantasm

As Gilgamesh chanted, golden ripples suddenly appeared on the ground beneath Isshin's feet.

His body's instinctive warning of danger made Isshin immediately use Shunpo to escape.

At that moment, giant chains glowing with a golden light shot up from the golden ripples on the ground, connecting the sky and earth.

Seeing the scene before him, Isshin's pupils trembled continuously.

Reflected in his eyes, the sky and earth seemed to be connected by these enormous golden chains.

In front of these gigantic chains, Isshin felt as small as an ant.

His mind began to quiver, and Gilgamesh's words echoed in his thoughts.

Divinity…

The true power of the Chains of Heaven…

That chant resembling a Zanpakuto release incantation…

Unconsciously, Isshin murmured in a trembling voice.

"What is going on!?"

"These chains connecting the sky and earth… could this be his Bankai?"

"But he said he didn't have a Zanpakuto…"

"And if it's a Bankai, why can't I sense any spiritual pressure?"

It wasn't just Isshin who was shocked. Kaien and Yoruichi, who were fighting intensely in the distance, were also drawn to the commotion caused by the release of the Chains of Heaven.

Upon seeing the gigantic golden chains connecting the sky and earth, both Kaien and Yoruichi were equally stunned.

They were far enough away to see the full spectacle, which made it even more shocking.

So shocked that they forgot they were still in battle.

After a brief silence, both Kaien and Yoruichi simultaneously rushed toward the Chains of Heaven.

Kaien was worried about Isshin.

As Isshin's nephew, Kaien knew him well and knew that these gigantic chains were not Isshin's Zanpakuto ability.

Yoruichi was worried about Gilgamesh.

She didn't know Isshin well and had never seen Gilgamesh use the Chains of Heaven.

But she had just sensed Isshin's unrestrained spiritual pressure.

Seeing the Chains of Heaven, Yoruichi assumed it was Isshin's Bankai.

Thus, Yoruichi feared that Gilgamesh might be in danger.

As Yoruichi and Kaien rushed over, the Chains of Heaven suddenly converged, forming a single chain that spanned the sky, like a mythical golden dragon soaring through the heavens.

At this moment, Isshin's body's instinctive warning of danger reached an unprecedented peak.

Escape!

Escape!

Escape!

The thought of escaping filled his mind until it occupied all his thoughts.

Isshin's body followed the survival instinct, using Shunpo to flee rapidly.

This action seemed to anger the golden dragon-like Chains of Heaven, which shot toward Isshin like a meteor.

As it passed, the atmosphere was torn apart, space roared, and a boundless wave of air surged, causing a violent wind.

The scene was like a natural disaster, as if the golden dragon was venting its fury.

Kaien and Yoruichi, seeing this from afar, felt a deep sense of dread even before getting closer.

Facing the golden dragon-like Chains of Heaven, Isshin, despite being a captain-level combatant, did not crumble.

He gritted his teeth, forcing himself to stay calm, while pouring all his spiritual pressure into his Zanpakuto, Engetsu.

In his current state, he couldn't sustain his Bankai.

Isshin knew his only chance was to put everything on the line, to deliver the strongest Getsuga Tensho of his life.

With eyes wide open, Isshin raised Engetsu high and roared, "Getsuga… Tensho!!!"

As Isshin slashed down, a massive blade of fiery spiritual pressure erupted, like a scorching inferno, striking toward the heavenly dragon.

The world seemed to hold its breath.

From Kaien and Yoruichi's perspective, the clash generated an extreme pressure wave, forming a vortex of wind mixed with scattered flames, spreading outward.

The collision's center raised a storm of sand and stones, obscuring the view, with only the Chains of Heaven visible beyond the debris.

Then, the delayed sound arrived.

Boom!

The terrifying shockwave forced Kaien and Yoruichi to halt in mid-air, their hearts in their throats.

As the dust settled, the Chains of Heaven gradually disappeared, along with Gilgamesh's golden throne, returning to the Gate of Babylon.

Then, the Gate of Babylon closed.

Kaien and Yoruichi arrived.

Yoruichi immediately checked Gilgamesh and, seeing he was unharmed, sighed in relief.

She then turned her attention to the surroundings.

Yoruichi noticed the battlefield's transformed terrain, with cracked ground, fallen trees, and numerous varying-sized craters.

Kaien and Isshin were in the largest crater.

Isshin sat on the ground, his face full of relief and panting heavily.

Isshin knew he survived not because his strongest Getsuga Tensho stopped the Chains of Heaven, but because Gilgamesh didn't intend to kill him.

The Chains of Heaven, though appearing to attack him, veered off, shattering his Getsuga Tensho and crashing heavily into the ground beside him.

Kaien, seeing the deep, lake-sized crater beside Isshin, was already sweating coldly.

Though not facing it directly, the sight of the ground rupture caused by the Chains of Heaven filled Kaien with suffocation, heaviness, and fear!

Yes, despite being captain-level, Kaien felt fear toward the beautiful, youthful-looking boy.

Isshin finally recovered, leaning on his released Zanpakuto to stand, saying, "He's terrifying."

"I now believe he's Gilgamesh."

"If not, I can't explain those divine artifacts without spiritual pressure or those incomprehensible methods."

He then looked at Kaien, who was frowning, yet to accept the reality, and said seriously, "Kaien, be careful, do not antagonize him, at least not now."

"He has the power to take us both down."

Kaien was surprised, not expecting Isshin to say this.

Before Kaien could ask, Isshin continued, "Did you know? Those golden ripples connect to his treasury."

"He said it holds the originals of all human myths."

"Those Chains of Heaven are just one of those myth originals."

"And I can tell, the Chains of Heaven aren't his strongest myth original…"

Before Isshin finished, Gilgamesh's appreciative voice interrupted, "As expected of a captain of the Gotei 13, your intuition is sharp."

"Indeed, the Chains of Heaven aren't my strongest treasure."

"No harm in telling you, my strongest treasure is called Ea, the Sword of Rupture!"
