Chapter 26 - Terrifying Spiritual Pressure!

The entrance exam for Shin'ō Academy consisted of three rounds: spiritual pressure (Reiatsu) test, Kido aptitude test, and swordsmanship aptitude test.

Candidates were scored comprehensively after the three rounds, with the spiritual pressure test accounting for 60% of the overall score, and the Kido and swordsmanship aptitude tests each accounting for 20%. The academy had a cap on the number of new students it admitted each year, choosing the best from those who passed.

Currently, Gilgamesh was undergoing the first round of the spiritual pressure test.

"Pay attention, the passing line for the spiritual pressure test is twenty-five rank Reiatsu," the proctor announced. "If you can't meet this minimum requirement, you will be eliminated immediately."

All the candidates became nervous upon hearing this, including Renji Abarai and Rukia Kuchiki. They were anxious about whether they could pass the test, not wanting to disappoint Gilgamesh who had brought them here.

Sensing their worries, Gilgamesh, while gently petting Yoruichi in her cat form, reassured them, "Twenty-five rank Reiatsu is the minimum detectable level. Regular members of the Gotei 13 have Reiatsu around the twenty-rank level. As long as you stay calm, you should pass the test easily."

With Gilgamesh's reassurance, Renji and Rukia felt a surge of confidence, their anxiety dissipating.

"That sounds reasonable. Five rank is the level of a vice-captain. Even he might not reach that."

"This is the background of a noble. We can't compete. He might top the exam."

Renji and Rukia, hearing the surrounding whispers, looked expectantly at Gilgamesh, eager to see him amaze everyone. They had learned from Yoruichi that Gilgamesh's power rivaled that of a Gotei 13 captain. Though they didn't know what rank captain-level Reiatsu was, they knew captains were the strongest in Soul Society.

The Reiatsu testing device started automatically. Gilgamesh stood still, allowing the device to measure his Reiatsu.

The results came quickly. The proctor's face showed shock as he announced, "Gilgamesh, Reiatsu twenty-five rank, pass."

The entire examination area fell silent instantly. Faces showed disbelief. No one had expected Gilgamesh's Reiatsu to just meet the passing line, contrary to their expectations.

Renji and Rukia were equally stunned, their faces mirroring the disbelief around them. Only Yoruichi remained composed. She had always found Gilgamesh's Reiatsu puzzling—weak in her perception but matched by undeniable strength. She assumed he had some tool to conceal his Reiatsu, deliberately masking his power to avoid attention from Shinigami and nobles, given Uruk's fledgling state.

Only Gilgamesh knew his Reiatsu truly was twenty-five rank. On his attribute panel, his Reiatsu was listed as 50,000. This implied that 50,000 Reiatsu corresponded to twenty-five rank. By this scale, captain-level Reiatsu could potentially exceed millions.

However, this didn't matter. Gilgamesh's confidence didn't stem from his Reiatsu alone. If he wished, he was sure he could increase his Reiatsu to millions, even billions.

After a brief silence, the exam site buzzed with even more excitement than before.

"No way, just twenty-five rank Reiatsu?"

"Is he just for show?"

"I knew it! Look at his two companions; they're so rustic, definitely from the countryside."

"Maybe he's from a lesser branch of a noble family, exiled due to poor talent."

"I thought so. I don't know any 'Gil' family."

"What a pity. He's so handsome but has such poor talent. My family would never agree to him. We're not meant to be."

"Maybe I have a chance? I could take care of him. He wouldn't need to do anything, just stay by my side."

Hearing these comments, Renji and Rukia fumed with anger, ready to explode. But before they could act, an overwhelming spiritual pressure flashed and disappeared.

Except for Gilgamesh, everyone present fell to their knees, including the proctors and hidden Shinigami. Faces showed fear, hearts pounding with panic, cold sweat soaking their bodies. They felt as if the sky itself had fallen.

They didn't know what had happened, but they knew the terrifying pressure had something to do with the only person still standing—Gilgamesh.
