In Another World Experience: Together With A Lewd Gender Swapped Elf

Chapter 130: Battle Anticipation 5

Because it was Chester's first time in this town, I was asked to give him a short tour. Having no other choice, I reluctantly agreed to do it. It's already been established that I'll become his bodyguard, so there will be no difference since I'll be following him around either way. We met with Log outside the guild and shortly went on our way to the streets.

Surprisingly, Log was not immediately hostile towards Chester. Unlike when I introduced him to Kai and Harry, he did not antagonize him. When I quietly asked if he liked him, he said that he simply doesn't need to be warry of him. He said that he was simply too lanky and weak to do anything to harm me.

"But he can use magic, you know?"

"What are you saying, master? There's no way his magic can be faster than me. I'll rip his head off as soon as he tries to cast anything," Log nonchalantly replied.

Seeing just how little Log's outlook on magic was concerns me a little. He's clearly thinking he could easily defeat any magic casters he encounters. The problem was, so far, he has only seen the magic of goblin mages and kobold priests, which he defeated easily with his quick first step. He hasn't seen any competent spells from a proper practitioner yet. I always use my sword instead of my magic when we go out to fulfill our quests from the guild, so he haven't seen my own magic either. I'll certainly show him some powerful spells later just so he can see how truly dangerous magic casters could be in a fight. I don't want him to underestimate anyone only to get hurt after.

I formed another future plan in my mind as we continue walking.

Although the guild and the town soldiers were in chaos, the common people were doing their business as usual. There were a few trying to evacuate and leave the gates, but the majority of them can't seem to care less. Their faith in the guild and the Baron must be strong, unless so, they simply can't leave their homes and abandon all of their belongings for others to take. Undoubtedly, a large number of them would rather choose to believe that the enemies would be defeated than leave the town and live in poverty afterwards.

"Is there anywhere I can buy scrolls here?" Chester asked.

"A shop for magic scrolls? If I remember correctly, there's one nearby. I'll take you there."

Now that we have a proper destination, I deliberately fasten up our pace. I don't think Chester was interested in anything I was showing him either, so we can safely skip the tour.

"Hmph... You must be quite talented if you're the best adventurer in this place. What's your adventurer rank?" Chester suddenly broke the silence as he followed behind.

"I'm A rank..."

Did the assistant guild master forget to reveal it to him?

"Hmm..." he grumbled, staring doubtfully at my figure. "So what's an adventurer of your caliber doing in an obscure place like this? If I were you, I'll go to one of the major cities in the country. You should spread your influence more. Or maybe you're just a bit too stupid to understand what your rank actually entails?" he scoffed.

What's with him? He's only a little older than Fin and he's still a boy compared to me, he has no business talking to me in such a rude way.

I should assert my dominance over him, but since we'll only be together until the monster invasion problem has been resolved, I wouldn't dwell much over it. At least he's recognizing my rank now, unlike when we first met and he's blatantly looking down on me as a weakling.

Soon, we arrived at the magic shop. To my surprise, Chester didn't actually have any money on him. He bought a lot of scrolls, and I ended up paying for them all. Still, he was indifferent about it, telling me to ask the guild to handle the tab later.

I felt defeated, but I mustered up the strength to bring the callous Noble to the inn Log and I were staying in.

Normally, Chester would be invited to Baron Heldrick's mansion to be treated as a guest. However, because he came into the territory as an ordinary messenger for the army, he's able to do as he please and stay anywhere he choose. Although he was haughty and rude, he doesn't seem to care about his treatment as much. He even mentioned trying the living quarters in the guild, which was far from being the preferred place for a noble like him to stay at.

In the end, the assistant guildmaster and I compromised and rented him a room in the same inn Log and I were using. As expected, he was perfectly satisfied with it.

At night, when he requested for my services, I took him to a nearby brothel instead. He obviously complained, but my mental capacity cannot handle any of his shenanigans anymore. I'm done with him for the day.
