Chapter 194: Chapter 194 - A Duel in the Queva City Cathedral and an Enchanted Ring
Third person POV
Aren was angry at Russell for ruining his elaborate, vanity-promoting wedding. "How dare you ruin my wedding, you stupid boy!" Russell was pissed off, so he replied back strongly, "Oh, yeah? You're really an arrogant and selfish brat who cares about himself."
Aren was pissed off, and the guests, elders, and the priest were shocked at Russell's take on Aren's character.
Some murmured about it to each other.
"Also…" Russell continued on his rant on Aren, "…I also found out how you persecuted Otherworlders in your home turf, too! You're dictatorial, aren't you? You're also seductive, charming, and manipulative! Plus, I already knew that you tried to kill me with one of your assassins!"
Aren was shocked with horror, and those who were at the wedding event in the grand cathedral hall gasped in horror and shock at his true nature and dark deeds, the things their ruler lied about of its true and accurate details.
Arius was shocked at his son's stupidity. "Why did you do that, son?!"
Because of this, humiliated and angry, Aren grabbed his scabbard from one of his attendants nearby and drew it out, before pointing it at Russell. "That's it! I'll kill you for this!" The arrogant prince of the Crows ability then lunged at Russell. Russell, who had known that this scenario would happen, then drew out his own sword and fought Aren's sword, clashing with it. Both then engaged in an open-space duel, causing everyone to flee the place, and run outside of the cathedral to prevent being involved in their duel. Outside, the May Party and the Elai Party were fending off some guards who had caught them.
Back inside the cathedral, Elai didn't leave the place and remained in her position in front of the altar. But then, Nathan appeared behind her and carried her in his arms. "Don't worry, senorita, I'll take you to safety." This took aback Elai, and Nathan took her out of the sacred place via a side door. After that, during the duel, Aren's sword, which was a family heirloom, broke after being struck by Russell's sword. He was devastated, and Russell was disappointed at his dumb mind for using something that was supposed to be cherished and passed down in his family.
"My…My family treasure and pride…"Aren muttered in despair while staring at his blade-broken sword, "…no…no…"
Russell, who knew more doses of common sense, then responded back to him, "If it was your family heirloom, then you shouldn't use that in our duel."
Aren is still focused on his despair of having his sword broken. "But it was made by this country's best blacksmiths…"
"Oh, yeah? That might have been made long ago, so naturally it will depreciate and weaken with time."
But then, after that interrupted duel, Aren threw away his useless, broken sword and looked at where Elai stood minutes ago. "What the…Where's Elai?" Russell then shrugged it off despite seeing what had happened to her. "You ask it yourself."
"Shut the hell up!" Aren snapped at him. "Did you conspire to take her away from me?!"
"Well…"
Aren then looked at the open front entrance of the cathedral, only to be shocked to see that Nathan was now proposing to Elai. "No! But this Enchanted Ring guarantees that whoever wears it will be in love with the person who gave it!" He then held the ring, which was said to be crafted by a goldsmith, a wizard from ancient times.
Russell then looked at the proposal scene as well. "Well, I think it doesn't work every time, Aren-san, like on Elai."
