In Another World as a…Bus Driver?

Chapter 190: Chapter 190 - Study Hard

Third person POV

Shortly after, as a part of their apprenticeship training, Russell brought his two students on his bus route from Fort Right to Garion City so both of his two apprentices would observe his job and learn from it. Alvin and Wally are paying attention to his bus driver work, especially how Russell would do upon arriving at their next destination every time, and take notes mentally on the how-tos of the job. The route from Fort Right to Garion City took one hour and 12 minutes, but the two students of Russell had learned a lot and were now trying to internalize them in their minds.

Upon arriving at Garion City, Russell does his usual protocol on arriving at his destination as his two young, academy student-level, apprentices watch his doing. Russell also explained in advance how to set fares for each route depending on the length and the current status and age of the passengers, minus their race and socioeconomic background since he considered all people as equals. Alvin and Wally were stunned at his model, considering that as a key to the shackles of social immobility. So, both of them took that in their minds and hearts.

Shortly after that, Russell and his two students got off to meet up with Janet, who luckily was off from work due to the school holidays, at her home. Upon arriving there, after Russell explained to her about his role as a driving instructor for his first two apprentices, Janet was stunned. "Wow, how can you do that, Russell?"

"Well…" Russell smiled at her, "…I can buy stuff from the Renad System Shop in a similar way you can with your pens. That modern pen you gave me is from that shop, right?"

 "Yes, but like…you can…?"

Janet couldn't comprehend it for a bit.

"Yes, and also, can be other land-based vehicles like bikes and cars, too."

"No way! All land-based modern vehicles?!"

"Yup, and if you want one of them, I'll buy whatever you ask for, and you'll only need to sign a contract of ownership of that item."

"Huh? Really? You can bestow ownership of an item from the Renad System Shop?"

"More like that. Anyways, can you buy some notebooks and modern pens for me and my students, so we can do our work with some comfort?"

Alvin and Wally were stunned to hear that request to Janet.

So, Janet granted that request from her Renad friend and bought some modern, cheap, spiral-bound notebooks and modern gel pens in black for 1 Renad Coin each and gave them to him and his first two students, which were thankful for her with a debt of gratitude for her. Janet was happy for her, before revealing that she had a total of 14,012 Renad Coins in her Renad System Shop Balance. Russell was shocked and revealed to her his current Balance in the System Shop, which was higher than hers. Janet was shocked and asked, "How come you have more money than I do?"

"Well…" Russell responded back with some embarrassment, "…I am good at my job and my true justice work, so earning money was like a constant outcome for me."

Russell wasn't aware that country leaders in his world were another source of income for the Renad System Shop.

Country leaders donated royalties to the System Shop through their local gods and goddesses, who then passed them to Ester and his managers of different worlds as money for the System Shop for all Otherworlders.

But back at this, Russell ended his visit to Janet's home with a goodbye and thank you to her and left with his two students. Along the way back to the bus, Alvin and Wally expressed to Russell how his hard work as a bus driver and as a Renad had motivated them to study hard, both as academy students and to take up the profession they took deliberately. Russell was stunned upon hearing that and looked at them. "Is that so?"

Wally then nodded. "Yes, you're hardworking, right?"

 "Yes, I am."

"Then that drove us to study hard to pass this apprenticeship!" Alvin responded back positively and strongly. "We will do our best to study this course until the end of it, no matter how long it will take for us to study!"

Russell was positive to hear that, knowing that both of them were determined to study thanks to his inspiration for them. "Okay, good luck with that."

And then, after that, all of them hopped on Russell's bus and left the city after picking up some passengers before leaving the medieval city. Their next route was towards Halestone Town with his usual mechanics as a bus driver as Alvin and Wally observed his work as usual. After lunchtime in that mining town, all of them picked up more passengers and went to South Et Bonde Jem in the Zale Valleys as their next route. Russell did his driving through the valley roads, much to his apprentices' stunning chagrin at his driving skills. The rest of the afternoon was spent on two more routes in the Zale Valleys and the Southern Plains, before going back home in Fort Right at 5:23 p.m. Along the way, Alvin and Wally had been taking notes in their new, shiny notebooks with their ink-perpetual gel pens for the whole drive. And since they are on a summer break from the academy, both boys decided to study their course until the end of it, much to Russell's delight.

And so, for the entire month, Russell had been focusing on his first two apprentices while doing his job and side jobs. Alvin and Wally were studying long and hard, and Russell included simulated routes so they could gain some experience beforehand; Alvin and Wally took turns having Russell tutor one of them in driving their designated buses every day, with Russell explaining how to do so with the controls and mechanics of their future, soon-to-be-owned vehicles. Alvin and Wally were doing their best to finish this strange course until the last chapter of it was finished.

At the same time, something is happening in Rane Town, Jan's hometown. An exiled party is resting in an abandoned farmhouse on the town's outskirts, isolated and living in social and financial poverty. One of them was now suffering from dysentery due to malnutrition.
