Chapter 110: Chapter 110. Improvisation

Alaric who was left behind glared at Rey and Rey who happened to look back met his glare and he shuddered. He was sure Alaric had changed. Something had changed to be specific. And he was not ready to find out what it was. Rey who thought he was safe felt his world turn in the next instant.

It was unexpected for him when suddenly a Alaric appeared and in the next instant, he had scooped Aurora in his arms. Now Rey knew there was no survival for him. But he was yet to know that Alaric was no longer concerned about him.

Aurora felt her knees give in and bent forward almost falling her right hand pressed on her forehead. She expected a fall that never came. She was shocked when her feet could not feel the ground anymore and she thought that it was her legs going numb.

But when she saw the ceiling above her, she was alert and only then did she feel the two arms carrying her. One under her back and the other one below her knees. She heaved as she raised her head to look at the face of the person carrying her. She could not miss the concern in his eyes.

"Are you alright?" He asked her softly. Rey looked at Alaric expression and he could not help but curse.

"I suddenly felt dizzy and my legs became weak. I think I should rest for while," she said and Rey chirped in.

"I shall clear some rumbles on the ground so she can rest for a while," he said but he received a glare opposite of what Aurora was receiving; the softest of his gazes.

"You shall rest as I carry you in my arms. We do not have time to stop. Someone might already be waiting for us," Alaric said and took a step forward not bothering to look at Rey anymore. Rey just shrugged as he followed them.

Aurora wrapped her arms on his back as she made herself comfortable as he led outside the cave. The moment they stepped outside, they were just in time as they saw General Morris land next to the headmaster who appeared to deep in his thoughts.

He looked around and noticed the three teenagers and he could not hide his displeased look when he saw Aurora and Alaric acting all intimate. He focused on the headmaster who started explaining the general situation.

"Don't worry, the Royal Guards under the Fourth Prince are on their way and shall do their best in the investigation. This region seems to carry an air of mystery. We should head back first," General Morris said.

"I wonder which of the space elementalist are responsible for this saving grace. We should find him or her and ask about the identity of the kidnappers," the headmaster said and the general nodded in return and spoke.

"There is only a handful of space elementalist capable of teleporting someone over such long distances. I wonder how the two kids are involved," he said in a solemn tone.

"I felt 'their' aura. I am sure it was them. They are making an appearance once again," the headmaster said with a sigh his look serious with pangs of worry in it. The general also turned serious as they knew exactly who they were dealing with. The general was especially serious with frown lines on his face.

"Soon we shall find them," General Morris said with determination. There was silence and their eyes turned to the two who were still intimate with each other. The general could not help but show his displeased look.

"Why are you still carrying her?" The general asked still displeased. It was obvious his general view of Alaric was tarnished.

"She was suddenly dizzy and she could not walk properly so we had to improvise," Alaric said but anyone could think his answer was a sarcastic one. Let alone the general who did not have a good impression of Alaric.

He looked at them two and could not help but wonder how that was an improvisation when they were holding onto each other closely. The headmaster especially recalled that he had found them in an intimate position before. He could not help but feel that if he was late, they would have surely done more.

"I shall carry her back," General Morris said and went to them taking her from Alaric and rose up. He then flew towards the direction of the academy. Alaric sighed as he thought about how the general acted petty. Was he not already old enough to have such a childish side?

The headmaster cleared his throat and called for the two. He covered them with an invisible membrane and rose up as they followed behind him. His speed was fast and he caught up with the general in no time.

As they passed them, they glanced at Aurora who was chatting with the general but due the membrane, not even sound could pass through it. They saw the general mumble some words to the headmaster who nodded. The general then went in a different direction from the headmaster.

Alaric could not help but feel worried that they were going away and he would have no chance to speak with Aurora again. After all, they were supposed to break for their holiday the previous week.

Rey observed his friend who was lost in his world his eyes following the general who was carrying Aurora. Rey could understand his friend's thoughts and he decided to help.

"Be at peace my friend," Rey said patting his friend's shoulder and continued his tone sarcastic, "Two months is definitely not a long time."

There was silence and Rey did not dare look at Alaric who was glaring at him. He even started whistling a tune his expression serious and his hands on his back.

Alaric clenched his fist and turned at Rey. He went into boxing position ready to start a fight with Rey. But Rey was no longer concentrating on him and was instead looking at the surroundings which he could see nothing because of the speed of their flight.

Still he refused to meet Alaric's gaze. Alaric could only give up for he did not wish to disrespect the headmaster. Rey was glad and he finally let loose his stiffness. He now was sure that he was safe.

The headmaster could only silently shake his head at the two. The two were a bunch of idiots. He recalled all the things they had done and how many times they had been sent to his office for causing mischief. He could only curse at whoever brought the two together.

The journey took around four hours. It was a tiring journey. First because the speed was too fast. Rey who had assumed that the headmaster could go faster, shuddered when he went faster than the fastest he had gone before.

Everything had turned to a blur. This was now the main reason they were tired and bored. They could not even enjoy the scenery of where they were passing through. They were glad when they slowed down and they realized they were in the academy which was a relief.

"You go back to your dorms. Other students have been released and only a few hundred are left. Go clean yourselves and you may be summoned later for questions," the headmaster said and left them at the Amzon Dorm.

He turned to leave but Alaric stopped him politely.

"May I ask for a request. You can assume it as my reward for my past deeds," Alaric spoke and the headmaster stopped and looked at him.

"How can I be of help?" He asked certainly intrigued.

"I need you to find me the hardest wood there is. That ain't much of a hassle for you, right?" Alaric asked

The headmaster was thoughtful for a while, while Rey was in thoughts not sure the need for the wood.

"Its not easy to procure it. How urgent do you need it?" He asked.

"As soon as possible. Even now would not be a bad thing," Alaric said. " At most a day." He added.

"Okay. I will try my best," the headmaster replied and left. Only he knew how difficult it was to find it. But since the kid had asked for it as a reward, if he talked with General Morris, he was sure to find it by the end of the day.

Rey was confused. Who in their right mind dared ask for the hardest wood as the reward for rescuing a princess? How was that even going to be of help to him? He waited until the headmaster was gone before he raised his concern.

"Why would you ask for such a thing? How is hardwood even going to be of help to you?" Rey asked and Alaric just looked at him as though he was staring at a fool. But still he chose to reply.

"It's a secret. You will know about it before you head back home," Alaric replied.

"Trying to be secretive huh?" Rey pressed.

"Its a gift."
