Chapter 124: What deep brotherly love, then let's die together.
Zhang Tiancheng did not recognize the Wen Zhixing before him.
He instinctively felt speechless that the other party was using him as a bargaining chip.
Of course, he didn't offer much resistance either.
He had long since become one of the living dead. As long as his divine soul was not extinguished, he would not perish.
Even if these two demons before him wanted to kill him, it would likely be somewhat difficult.
Although Mu Yunqing hadn't issued any orders, Zhang Tiancheng had his own thoughts. If I can help save Liu Qingdai, it would certainly be a good deed.
SQUELCH!
The next moment, Zhang Tiancheng was seized by the throat in mid-air.
It was the shopkeeper who struck; a giant black claw shot out from beneath his sleeve, gripping Zhang Tiancheng tightly.
Like Liu Qingdai, Zhang Tiancheng's throat was pierced.
"Eh?"
The shopkeeper and Xiao Liuzi exchanged glances, their savage eyes holding a flicker of surprise.
No way, did they really just hand him over like that?
"Alright, I've given you the man. Now quickly return her to me," Wen Zhixing said impassively, holding out his hand.
Liu Qingdai's condition was dire; it wasn't just that her throat had been cut and she was losing too much blood.
The demonic Qi from Xiao Liuzi had already invaded her body.
His strength far surpassed Liu Qingdai's, and he had her utterly suppressed.
The demonic Qi and Spiritual Qi were battling within her body, a state akin to Qi Deviation.
If it lasted any longer, things would become truly troublesome.
"Hahaha!" The shopkeeper and Xiao Liuzi exchanged another glance, then burst out laughing.
How could anyone be so foolish?
He actually believed we'd trade a life for a life, huh?
Liu Qingdai forced her eyes open, a pained expression on her face. Even she found it somewhat incredulous that Zhang Tiancheng had been captured.
How could this be?
From what I know of Wen Zhixing, he shouldn't be this foolish.
But she couldn't spare the mental energy to think about it now; she was focusing all her concentration on suppressing the demonic Qi within her body.
"You lied to me!" Only then did Wen Zhixing seem to realize what had happened. His body stiffened, and anger flashed across his face.
"This young lady's flesh is much more fragrant than you two worthless men. A life for a life isn't enough," the shopkeeper said, a mocking glint in his eyes. "How about this: we'll trade this young lady for both of your lives."
"Are you serious?" Wen Zhixing looked conflicted. "I don't believe you!"
CRACK!
The words had barely left Wen Zhixing's mouth when the shopkeeper reached out and brutally snapped all four of Zhang Tiancheng's limbs.
"Aaargh!" Zhang Tiancheng let out a pained howl, his limbs grotesquely twisted, large beads of sweat popping out on his forehead.
He struck without the slightest hesitation, his methods utterly ruthless.
"Hmph, you have no choice." A cold smirk touched Xiao Liuzi's lips, and his fingers once again glowed with black light, poised to strike.
"Fine, I agree, I agree!" Wen Zhixing cried out frantically.
The shopkeeper remained vigilant, giving Xiao Liuzi a meaningful glance.
Xiao Liuzi understood instantly and lashed out with a claw.
A streak of black light, accompanied by a whistling sound as it sliced through the air, shot towards Wen Zhixing's throat.
SPLASH!
Wen Zhixing's body instinctively tried to dodge, but he couldn't evade it completely.
The black light slashed most of the way through his throat, and blood gushed out copiously.
"Ugh..." Wen Zhixing swayed, clutching his neck, his face deathly pale, contorted in agony.
This single strike stunned everyone present.
Liu Qingdai's face turned ashen. She had thought Wen Zhixing had some plan, but instead, even he had ended up with his throat slashed.
And it was slashed more than halfway through. With an injury this severe, without a healing elixir, even cultivators like them would die quickly.
For a moment, she nearly succumbed to Qi Deviation.
The shopkeeper and Xiao Liuzi were also stunned.
Everything had come too easily before, making them wary and hesitant to act.
Their greatest fear was that Wen Zhixing was feigning weakness to lure them into a trap.
After all, they often employed the same tactic themselves.
It would be bad news if they bit off more than they could chew.
So even though they had the upper hand, they had no intention of engaging in a head-on confrontation.
Xiao Liuzi's attack on Wen Zhixing had only been a probing strike.
Yet, that single strike had nearly killed Wen Zhixing.
An injury like this couldn't be faked.
"Did we really run into such gullible fools?" Both the shopkeeper and Xiao Liuzi were bewildered.
The two brothers couldn't believe their luck. To run into such dimwits! The heavens are truly favoring us!
Today's haul will be magnificent!
"Release... her..." Wen Zhixing, half-kneeling on the ground, spoke with a hoarse voice.
Hope flickered in his eyes.
"Release her?" The shopkeeper and Xiao Liuzi looked at each other as if they'd heard the funniest joke in the world. Dropping all pretense, they burst into loud, mocking laughter.
They say humans are cunning and deceitful. From the looks of it now, they're nothing special.
"Boss, I'll kill him!" Xiao Liuzi licked his lips, a savage grin on his face.
"Don't kill him," the shopkeeper said, shaking his head. "I prefer to eat them alive. The texture is better, and it's more nourishing. If they die, most of their cultivation will dissipate. What a waste. They're all just Third Realm cultivators; their divine souls haven't even fully formed. We can just cut off their limbs and savor them slowly."
"You're right, Boss." Xiao Liuzi nodded hastily; his boss's reasoning was sound.
"This young lady has the most delicate skin and tender flesh. Let's save her for last and start with these two men," the shopkeeper said, his face alight with excitement as he began to discuss their dining arrangements right in front of the three captives.
"Whatever you say, Boss!" Xiao Liuzi grew excited too. A chain condensed from demonic Qi appeared in his palm, and he used it to bind Liu Qingdai securely.
