Chapter 41: Chapter 38: Show of Strength
"I do apologize for that.." Yasaka murmured as she lead them away from the frantic Valkyrie that looked ready to charge through the Oni's large frame and towards them. Her words becoming increasingly garbled as she spouted out phrases and promises in her native tongue. Arrior had certainly lost it when meeting Iori and it seem like nothing else mattered to her in that moment but facing him. "I didn't think her reaction would be so bad…"
Indeed, those artificial beings while always itching for a fight had never turned so crazed after a strong opponent. He was sure it probably had to do with his improved cultivation and only slightly nodded in reply.
"Hopefully, she'll calm down in the morning…." She sighed," Else we'll have to request a new representative."
It would take time, but it was worth it if this current diplomat had lost all reason and gained tunnel vision like this. Plus besides, such a thing would most assuredly put pressure on the Nordic Pantheon and make them more amendable to her proposals.
"I'm sure the Greece-Roman representative will be a lot less...explosive." Yasaka said with a hint of hope tinging her voice. Iori honestly felt like he had his fill of people for the day and wanted nothing more than to find that lake again.
'I'll just take a break tomorrow…' He thought,' A week or more, tops.'

If the Norse Representative was exhausting then Ira was like a breath of fresh air. The tanned girl while nervous had been rather bubbly, respectful and best of all, mentally sound in her head. She had went on and on about some of the more exciting deliveries. The monsters she's seen, places she's been and people she's met. Honestly, despite knowing that she was slightly playing him, he had thoroughly enjoyed their conversation.
"I will not keep you Master Yamato." Ira bowed deeply," Thank you for speaking with me, please do visit me if you ever find yourself in Greece. And if you ever need anything delivered, I'm your guy!"
"I certainly will, Ms. Boosaloglou." Iori said after giving his own cultivator bow at the girl's departure. He was actually genuinely surprised how well that went, while known she would most assuredly run off to tell her faction about him, didn't really mind. If this was some kind of plot to get him to go to the Greece-Roman Pantheon place of power, then they certainly knew him well enough. Turning slightly, he decided to ask Yasaka a question," When did the Greek/Roman Gods mellow out?"
"She's 1 of Herme's people." She shrugged, hiding a small smile behind her fan," They're couriers and have interacted with a lot of foreign Supernaturals, so they know how to not anger powerhouses. I'm just glad they didn't send a Priest of Zeus or something, things most likely wouldn't have ended well."
Iori decided not to correct the blonde at the moment, he would tell her his findings later when they were in private. While the girl seemed human, there was no way anyone could hide that texture of Ki from his senses. The Priest only had a hint of the Divine on his aura, while Ira practically producing it all on her own. Especially around her eyes and lips, as though someone else was speaking through the girl instead.
"We just have 1 more person to meet," Yasaka seemed a bit hesitant actually go to her last guest but it seemed like that decision would be taken from her as a pristinely dressed man with a blonde mane and green eyes that seemed to look down on the world. Whatever unease their appearance had inflicted on the man had most assuredly worn off now. Only that natural swagger that Iori found all Devils had, remained.
Devils, the only other Supernatural he knew just as well as Yokai. Having taken jobs from them during their civil war, he was extremely familiar with their energy texture that differentiated themselves from the other races. Their Ki felt stiff and unyielding, like their own pride had hammered their aura into something unbending. It didn't matter which of the Pillars he spoke or interacted with, they all had this degree of arrogance as though they were better than any other creature on the planet. Hell (Pun intended) even the 'commoner' Devils had it.
But after Iori watched the man grow closer and closer, he couldn't help but notice something familiar about him. That golden mane of hair, green slit eyes and that jawline….
"Yasaka my dear," The man bowed slightly, his eyes locked on the blondes cleavage. Looking like a lion that caught the gaze of a gazelle, hungry and greedy as he raked in the beautiful woman's appearance. Completely uncaring of the spike of disgust that was sent his way from the surrounding Yokai, and pointedly ignoring the cultivator who had a puzzled expression over his face," The moon is bright but not as luxurious as your beauty. Thank you for...blessing my eyes tonight."
Like a light bulb, memories came slamming back into his mind. That handsome appearance, arrogant swagger, golden mane and most importantly, those cringe pick up lines.
"Ne-"
As quick as a runaway lightning bolt, Iori fingers snapped up and gripped at the Devil's golden mane. Everyone froze in kind as they watched the legend himself manhandle the diplomat, moving his quarry with a few motions that forced the arrogant man to follow.
His own green eyes looking up in shock at the audacity of the situation, no one probably ever treated him like this before.
Nodding slight, Iori let go of the Devil and proudly said," You must be Vallon's son."
Yasaka couldn't help herself any longer and burst out into giggles that she tried to hide behind that upturned fan. Memories flashing behind those golden eyes as her shoulder shook violently.
"Y-you…" Nellial flustered, his face shifting from it's normal pale color to a more red pallor," Knew my father? He's never mentioned you before."
He was sure that took every bit of self control the young Devil had, and silently approved. His father took a lot more beatings to truly get the message. And he even had the time to throw in that little back handed comment near the end.
'These new Devils are certainly different, maybe Sirzechs certainly did a good job.'
"I would think not." Iori nodded," Think of us as...old war comrades you could say. How is he by the way? Last I heard he was locked in a succession battle with his younger brother?"
"My uncle...??" Now the blonde looked gobsmacked as the red in his face faded into a more paler complexion," No! He's never had any intentions of taking over the family.."
"So he did take my advice seriously." Now the immortal felt both slightly bad for the brother and vindicated that the prideful man had actually did what he said. Despite spending their entire time together just barely toeing the line of insubordination, in the end the Devil had truly caved and used his methods to thoroughly extinguish any competition for the head of house.
"Forgive me." Yasaka coughed after getting herself under control," I've been terribly rude. Nellial Vapula this is Yamato Iori, Senjutsu Grandmaster. Master Yamato, this is Nellial of House Vapula."
