Immortal Creed

Chapter 255: Siege

Balder, holding his greatsword, had the power of the earth flowing through him, with an orange-yellow glow attached to his sword. He swung his giant light sword to cleave through the torrent, advancing towards Alfred.

Breaking through the torrent's interception at the same time as Balder was Robert, agile in stature and with hair as white as Alfred's.

He held a rapier, and a faint azure phantom appeared behind him. The massive torrent released by Alfred automatically flowed past him, as if blessed by a god, impervious to all magic.

In reality, this could indeed be considered a divine blessing.

"Walking with God"—the signature ability of a modern priest's second rank, a Bishop.

After priests enter the Bishop stage, their divinity undergoes a certain transformation, somewhat similar to a Magician's magic transformation.

In fact, no matter which Extraordinary One profession reaches the second rank, the energy within their bodies will undergo some changes, because this stage is where their own mental will dominates the power within their bodies.

A Great Knight's will permeates the elements, a Great Mage's spirit deepens its connection with magic, and a Bishop's divinity, derived from a true god, truly belongs to them at this moment.

At the Bishop stage, the divinity within a priest's body actually loses its absolute control over a single element, because the divinity within them no longer represents a true god.

As compensation, or perhaps as a closer influence of a true god, that faint divine phantom accompanies the Bishop, which is also the origin of the term "Walking with God."

Under the blessing of the divine phantom, a Bishop still has a very strong influence over a single element, and divine spells are greatly enhanced.

And as their own control over divinity gradually strengthens, the high-tier power of divinity will also manifest its true effect: "Divine Body" will appear on them.

"Divine Body" enhances a Bishop's attributes in all aspects, including physical fitness, perception, mental strength, and so on.

It can be said that a priest at the Bishop stage will not have obvious shortcomings; even without using divine spells, their physical fitness alone can knock down an ordinary knight with one punch.

Therefore, the frail priests rumored in the secular world cannot exist, at least not among modern priests.

At the same time, due to the existence of the "Divine Body," ordinary forces find it difficult to harm them, which is also why the torrent automatically parted around Robert.

As a Great Adventurer, Robert has walked a long way in the Bishop stage; the strength of his "Divine Body" is enough for him to ignore ordinary elemental attacks.

Although Alfred is powerful, this scattered torrent, weakened by the "Divine Body," can no longer affect Robert much.

Alfred was not surprised by their breakthrough; after all, they had fought several battles, so they naturally had some understanding of each other's situations.

In fact, because of "Mirror Lake," his understanding of Balder and other Rebel Army higher-ups might even be deeper than their own.

Taking a step, two figures each swung their swords to meet Balder and Robert.

Upon closer inspection, one of the figures had no face and was entirely blue, appearing to be made completely of water. The sword in its hand, rather than a longsword, looked more like a blue elongated object, showing no hint of sharpness.

But even with such a body and such a longsword, Robert's expression was very serious, not daring to show the slightest contempt.

"Boom!"

Four swords of different shapes and varying powers clashed almost simultaneously, erupting in a powerful impact and roar.

The impact dispersed the torrent, allowing those outside to witness the situation after that instant.

After their swords clashed, Robert and Alfred's clone entered a fierce battle.

The two exchanged blows with extreme sword speed, engaging in an unknown number of rounds in a short period.

Meanwhile, Balder, who faced Alfred's true body directly, was pressed into the ground by a single sword. The earth cracked around him, and the ground sank dozens of centimeters compared to before.

Seeing this, the other Rebel Army higher-ups knew which side to assist.

Eight Rebel Army higher-ups, including Liens, charged forward, enduring the powerful impact, while the rest went to intercept other Kingdom powerhouses, preventing them from disrupting the military formation.

Facing Liens and the others, Alfred once again sent out several clones to deal with them, with only Liens not being assigned a clone.

Although Liens was a bit puzzled by this, there was no time for him to ponder the situation carefully. After the others were intercepted, he could only go alone to assist Balder.

Liens was like a ghost entering a gale; the storm caused by the impact not only didn't hinder him but, under the influence of "momentum," propelled him faster towards Alfred.

He swung his sword, striking out.

The extremely fast sword transformed into a streak of azure light, pointing directly at Alfred's vital spot. Alfred didn't dodge, merely turning and swinging his sword in return.

The two swords met, and without surprise, Liens was sent flying back again, just as before.

"The force has weakened… Is it intentional? Or have those clones taken some of his strength?"

Liens quickly stabilized himself in mid-air, thinking to himself that he had noticed Alfred's attack was slightly weaker than it had been in the instance.

Without overthinking, Liens continued to charge and attack Alfred, while Balder, having recovered from the previous sword impact, also swung his sword again towards Alfred.

The two fought Alfred's true body together.

Although Liens was repeatedly repelled, and Balder, as an earth-element Great Knight specializing in defense, was struck to the point of spitting blood, Alfred, despite being attacked by both of them, showed no signs of injury whatsoever.

But at least they had temporarily entangled Alfred, which was sufficient for the Rebel Army's goal.

The Rebel Army higher-ups, who had fought Alfred many times, never expected to defeat this Sword Saint with their own strength; they merely wanted to buy some time.

On the other side, in the other battlefields.

Aside from Liens's battlefield, although the other Rebel Army higher-ups also couldn't defeat their respective opponents, and some even couldn't beat Alfred's clones.

However, they deliberately pulled their opponents far away from their own army and simultaneously expanded the impact of the battle.

They forcefully created a combat zone at the border of the two armies that ordinary Extraordinary Ones would find difficult to cross, thereby isolating the Kingdom's army's advance.

Looking at Lucrezia before him, Ralph's gaze was somewhat complex.

Lucrezia had a good relationship with him; they were once classmates, both having studied magic under the Chief Court Magician.

If Lucrezia hadn't suddenly betrayed the Kingdom, he, as a descendant of a prominent Kingdom noble and an exceptionally talented young individual, would have very likely ended up with her.

"What a pity."

Looking at Lucrezia, whose alluring figure was hard to conceal even when encased in armor, Ralph sighed inwardly. Without further hesitation, his magic power flowed rapidly within him.

"Earth Pulse" unfolded…

"Pfft!"
