Chapter 1354: Souls Crystal And Geovena Stone
After hearing Regigigas recount the story of the corpse, Yuga was deeply puzzled. Could the corpse truly hold some secret? Otherwise, why would the person insist that Regigigas guard it so closely during their lifetime and specifically instruct it not to hand the body over to anyone?
While Yuga was still confused, Gengar and Mismagius drifted out from the shadow space. They floated near the stone coffin and perched on its edge, their expressions unreadable as they scrutinized the mummy inside.
"What's wrong with you two?"
Yuga looked at the two Pokémon, feeling their behavior was quite improper. It had been generous of Regigigas to open the coffin for them to see in the first place, but now they were sticking their heads directly into its friend's coffin? That seemed highly disrespectful to the coffin's owner.
Gengar and Mismagius glanced at Yuga, unsure how to respond. Before Yuga could react further, he saw Gengar extend its hand into the coffin.
"Hey—!"
Yuga was taken aback and was about to stop Gengar when he saw it place its hand on the corpse's head and pull out a transparent shadow.
It appeared to be a person's soul.
The soul was slowly drawn out by Gengar, and then both Gengar and Mismagius blew a breath of black mist onto it. To Yuga's astonishment, the soul gradually opened its eyes.
After exhaling the black mist, Gengar and Mismagius seemed to weaken noticeably, their energy visibly waning.
The soul that emerged belonged to a middle-aged man. He had short, snow-white hair, striking green eyes, and a square, resolute face. Though not conventionally handsome, his features exuded an air of determination.
After opening his eyes, the soul gazed around in confusion. When his eyes landed on Regigigas, his face lit up with a warm smile as he greeted it, "Regigigas, long time no see."
"Regigigas~"
Seeing its old friend reappear, Regigigas was overjoyed. If it weren't so large, Yuga suspected it might have started jumping for joy.
What shocked Yuga even more was that the soul could communicate seamlessly with Regigigas, clearly indicating he was someone with special abilities.
Yuga wasn't particularly surprised by this revelation. As far as he knew, Ghost World Messengers generally possessed unique powers that ordinary people lacked, and these abilities varied from person to person.
After exchanging a few words with Regigigas, the soul turned its attention to Gengar and Mismagius.
"Was it you who awakened me? Thank you very much." With those words, he bowed to Gengar and Mismagius. He then added, "It seems you two, like me, hail from the Ghost World." He instantly deduced Gengar and Mismagius's origins.
"Gengar~"
"Mismagius~"
Neither Gengar nor Mismagius denied it. After speaking briefly with the soul, it suddenly looked at Yuga in surprise.
"Hello, the master of Gengar and Mismagius. My name is Clyman. Thank you and your magical beasts for awakening me."
"Uh… You're welcome." Yuga found himself at a loss for words with this unfamiliar soul. He wanted to ask Clyman what he was looking for and if there was some secret to his corpse. However, since they didn't know each other well, he felt it inappropriate to ask directly.
Soon, Regigigas voiced the question lingering in Yuga's heart, asking Clyman directly about his doubts. It also recounted the events surrounding Marshadow's visit. Since the two were old friends, there was no need for formalities between them.
"So that's how it is," Clyman sighed. "The day has finally come."
After speaking, Clyman returned to his corpse. When he emerged again, he was holding a transparent crystal in both hands. Within the crystal, a swirling black mist seemed to shift, exuding a deeply unsettling aura.
Ordinarily, souls cannot interact with physical objects. Yet Clyman's soul was able to lift this tangible crystal effortlessly.
"This is probably the Soul Crystal that Marshadow was searching for," Clyman explained.
"Soul Crystal?" Yuga studied the object curiously.
"This is the crystal formed from the soul of the first Marshadow after its death," Clyman replied. The Marshadow he referred to was the very first Marshadow in existence.
The first Marshadow, as a mythical Pokémon, was originally a powerful spirit from the Ghost World. After its transformation, it became the progenitor, and the existence of other Marshadow Pokémon emerged as a result of the world's rules adapting to its presence.
Back then, Clyman, acting as a Ghost World Messengers, was tasked by the will of the Ghost World to locate and eliminate this Marshadow. After enduring countless hardships, he finally succeeded in killing it.
However, the cost was immense. Nearly all of Clyman's magical beasts were killed in the battle (at that time, Pokémon were referred to as magical beasts), and he himself was gravely wounded, hovering on the brink of death.
Yet Marshadow was extraordinarily cunning. Before dying, it manipulated Clyman's sole remaining Pokémon, a Dusknoir, convincing it to flee with a final entrusted task.
Dusknoir originating from the Ghost World have a unique ability: they can open a portal to the Ghost World. For this reason, every Ghost World Messengers is equipped with one. Dusknoir that do not hail from the Ghost World lack this ability entirely.
For example, Yuga's Dusknoir possesses Master level strength, but expecting it to open a gateway to the Ghost World would be utterly impossible.
After Marshadow's death, its soul crystallized. The crystal was originally meant to be returned to the Ghost World by Clyman. However, without his Dusknoir, Clyman was forced to drag his critically injured body to his friend, Regigigas.
By the time he found Regigigas, Clyman was already on the verge of death. Unable to give any detailed instructions, he passed away. The Soul Crystal had been hidden within his own body.
The reason Clyman's soul could remain dormant for so long without dissipating was entirely due to the existence of the Soul Crystal.
The Marshadow that came to steal the Soul Crystal must have learned about its existence from Clyman's Dusknoir.
The first Marshadow was extraordinarily powerful, nearly comparable to a Tier 1 Legendary Pokémon. If the Marshadow attempting to steal the Soul Crystal were to obtain it, its strength would certainly reach even greater heights.
Alternatively, it might have another purpose for stealing the Soul Crystal, but Clyman could not be certain. He had no idea what instructions the first Marshadow had left with his Dusknoir all those years ago.
"So that's how it is!"
After listening to Clyman's account, Yuga suddenly understood everything.
After a few moments of contemplation, Clyman suddenly said to Yuga, "Can I entrust this Soul Crystal to you?"
"To me?" Yuga asked in shock.
"Yes!" Clyman nodded. "If that Marshadow could come once, it can come again. Leaving the Soul Crystal here is no longer safe."
"If even leaving it with Regigigas isn't safe, then it won't necessarily be safe with me either," Yuga replied in confusion. Of course, if he were to put it in his Ecopark, it would undoubtedly be safe, but Clyman had no idea that Yuga had such a place.
"It's not like that," Clyman shook his head. "The safest way to handle the Soul Crystal is to make it disappear."
"Make it disappear?"
"Yes." Clyman nodded. "I mentioned that the Soul Crystal could help Marshadow grow stronger. It can do the same for your Gengar and Mismagius. Like me, they originate from the Ghost World, so I believe they would know how to use this Soul Crystal."
In truth, Clyman believed the best course of action was to return the Soul Crystal to the Ghost World. However, since he could not open the portal to the Ghost World, this was the next best option.
A boon like this? Yuga quickly glanced at his Gengar and Mismagius, who were nodding eagerly at him.
"In that case, I'll reluctantly accept it," Yuga said, giving Gengar and Mismagius a knowing look. The two gleefully floated to Clyman, took the Soul Crystal, and disappeared into Yuga's shadow space.
Having entrusted the Soul Crystal, Clyman turned to Regigigas and said, "Regigigas, my dear friend, I must leave now. Thank you for guarding me all this time."
Without the support of the Soul Crystal, Clyman's soul was destined to dissipate. Due to the Soul Crystal's influence, his soul could no longer naturally be guided back to the Ghost World.
"Regigigas~ Regigigas~"
Regigigas let out a sorrowful sound upon hearing Clyman's words. It reached out, wanting to touch Clyman, but its hand passed right through him.
Seeing this, Clyman smiled and said, "Don't be sad. Just being able to see you again and talk with you like this makes me very happy." As someone born of the Ghost World, Clyman did not fear death; instead, he was able to smile and comfort Regigigas.
Thanks to the energy from Gengar and Mismagius, Clyman's soul didn't dissipate immediately. He had enough time to bid farewell to Regigigas.
By sunset, Clyman's soul had grown increasingly translucent.
"Goodbye, my friend! Take care of yourself," he said.
With those final words, Clyman vanished completely.
After seeing Clyman off, Yuga turned to Regigigas and asked, "Regigigas, what will you do now?" The tragedy had left Regigigas without a home and without its friend—it was truly heartbreaking.
"Regigigas~ Regigigas~"
I'll return to my own space.
After gathering its emotions, Regigigas responded.
"Wait, isn't your space damaged?" Yuga asked, startled.
As it turned out, Regigigas's space was indeed damaged, but it wasn't beyond repair.
"In that case, let's part ways here."
After understanding the situation, Yuga prepared to bid farewell to Regigigas. This chapter of their journey had come to an end, and even if Marshadow returned, it would not find what it was looking for.
"Regigigas~ Regigigas~"
Hearing Yuga's words, Regigigas rummaged through its body. Finally, a yellowish-brown stone, about the size of a human head, fell to the ground.
"This is for me?" Yuga pointed at the stone and asked.
"Regigigas~"
Regigigas nodded and explained the identity and purpose of the yellowish-brown stone.
The stone was a Geovena Stone. For Ground-type Pokémon, it not only significantly enhanced their strength but also improved their potential. The Geovena Stone was formed from years of Regigigas absorbing the earth's power.
Although Regigigas itself was not a Ground-type Pokémon, it shared a profound connection with the earth. Only it could condense such a rare and valuable Geovena Stone.
The Geovena Stone might look like a small piece, but it contains a massive concentration of the earth's essence. It took Regigigas years to condense just this one piece. If Yuga hadn't helped it break free from Marshadow's seal this time, Regigigas wouldn't have been willing to part with it!
After hearing Regigigas explaination about Geovena Stone's uses, Yuga's eyes lit up. A treasure!
With both the Soul Crystal and Geovena Stone in his possession, Yuga felt like the dozens of Max Revive he had spent weren't in vain.
"Thank you so much, Regigigas!" Yuga quickly picked up Geovena Stone, holding it carefully before storing it in his spatial backpack.
After handing over Geovena Stone to Yuga, Regigigas swiped a hand through the air, opening a rift in the sky. It then picked up the three Regis and disappeared into the rift along with them.
Watching Regigigas leave, Yuga began pondering who should receive Geovena Stone.
Currently, he had two Ground-type Pokémon: Torterra and Palossand. Torterra was one of his main team members, but Palossand had been with him for a long time, serving as a reliable tent whenever needed. It had been indispensable.
After a lot of thought, Yuga ultimately decided to give Geovena Stone to Palossand. Among his many Pokémon, Palossand's strength and potential weren't particularly noteworthy—it was time to give it some recognition.
Summoning Palossand from his shadow space, Yuga handed Geovena Stone to it and said, "Palossand, this is for you."
Initially, Palossand looked confused after being summoned, but as soon as it saw Geovena Stone, its attention was wholly captured.
As a Ground-type Pokémon, Palossand could clearly sense the abundant and enticing power of the earth contained within Geovena Stone. It also realized the immense value of this treasure.
"What are you staring at? Take it!" Yuga reminded Palossand, seeing its stunned expression.
Palossand was dumbfounded because it never expected Yuga to give such a precious item to it. As one of Yuga's non-main team Pokémon, its primary role had been serving as a makeshift shelter. It rarely contributed to battles or other significant tasks.
Even so, Yuga had never shorted it on resources necessary for training, which had already made Palossand deeply grateful. But now, Yuga was giving it something as valuable as Geovena Stone—this was beyond anything it had imagined.
After confirming that Yuga truly intended to give Geovena Stone to it, Palossand carefully accepted the item and tucked it away within its body for safekeeping.
Absorbing the power within Geovena Stone wouldn't happen overnight. It would require Palossand to slowly and gradually digest its energy over time—there was no rushing it.
"Alright, let's head back."
With that, Yuga recalled Palossand into the shadow space, released Dragonite, and mounted it to fly toward the expedition camp.
Upon returning to the camp, Yuga decided to report to Mr. Kaya about the recent events. However, after searching for a while, he couldn't find him.
By this point, most of the soldiers who had gone out to fend off the wild Pokémon had returned, with only a few remaining outside to handle follow-up tasks.
After coming out of Mr. Kaya's office, Yuga saw Elio running toward him. Just as Yuga was about to ask about Mr. Kaya's whereabouts, Elio rushed over and grabbed him.
"Mr. Shimizu, you're finally back! Something urgent has come up—come with me quickly!" Without further explanation, Elio dragged Yuga along.
"Something urgent? What's happened? Haven't the wild Pokémon already retreated? What else could it be?" Yuga asked as he walked.
"It's not about the wild Pokémon." Elio strode forward with large steps. "Ugh... just follow me! You'll understand when we get there—it's too complicated to explain in a few words!"
Left with no choice, Yuga could only follow Elio as they left the expedition camp.
