I’m the Owner of the Pokémon Day Care In the World of Pokémon

Chapter 1309: Salamence's Bad Habit

After spending the night resting in Cerulean City, Yuga and his group were ready to set off. The Joy family had already prepared all the necessary supplies for their trip to Resurrection Island, and each of the six members, including Yuga, Joyha, and Joyra, was given a spatial backpack by Joyba.

After receiving his spatial backpack, Yuga checked it over. They had all been given the largest capacity spatial backpacks currently available on the market. Inside, everything—food, essentials, and emergency supplies—was thoroughly prepared.

Once everything was in place, the six of them were escorted by Joyba to the Cerulean Strait.

Since only six people were going this time, the Joy family hadn't prepared a flight vehicle, but instead planned to have them travel directly to Resurrection Island by Pokémon.

Upon arriving at the Cerulean Strait, Joyba instructed Joyra and the others, saying, "For this operation, you must follow the instructions of Mr. Shimizu. Do not act on your own, understood?"

"Yes!"

The five of them answered in unison. With Yuga's reputation, everyone in the team was very much in agreement with him being the leader.

After giving a few more instructions, Joyba turned to Yuga and said, "Mr. Shimizu, I leave this to you."

Yuga replied, "Don't worry. I'll do my best."

Once everything was settled, Joyba told the group, "Alright, it's time to depart. I wish you all a safe journey!"

Afterward, one of the male trainers in the group walked to the shore and took out an Ultra Ball. A flash of red light flickered, and a massive Pokémon appeared in the water. It was none other than the mighty Wailord.

Yuga hadn't expected the Joy family to provide a Wailord for their sea journey. He glanced at the trainer who had released it in surprise.

When it comes to sea travel, Wailord was indeed the most suitable riding Pokémon.

While Pokémon like Lapras were also great for water travel, they were much smaller in size. They were fine for short distances but uncomfortable for long journeys due to their limited space.

Resurrection Island was far from the mainland and wasn't a place you could reach in a day or two. It would be quite inconvenient to ride smaller Pokémon for such a long distance, as there wouldn't be much room to move around.

Riding on Wailord clearly wouldn't have that issue, showing just how considerate the Joy family was in their planning.

The trainer riding Wailord was named Jonah, a man in his thirties, and the son-in-law of the Joy family. He had a square face, average height, and his appearance was somewhat plain, but his fierce aura was impossible to ignore. It was clear that he had been carefully selected by the Joy family.

Although Wailord was incredibly powerful and a dominant force in the sea, it was rare to see trainers using such Pokémon. Due to their immense size and inability to fight on land, they were impractical for most trainers.

As a result, trainers who used Wailord were usually those who spent most of their time at sea. Yuga wasn't sure if this Wailord was Jonah's personal Pokémon or if it had been provided by the Joy family as a ride for them.

However, Yuga soon found out the answer. Jonah waded into the water and said something to Wailord. Wailord then flicked its tail, which landed on the shore and formed a staircase leading up to its back for them to climb.

Based on the level of coordination between Wailord and Jonah, Yuga could tell that they were not just a temporary team.

Once the six of them boarded Wailord, Joyha waved vigorously at Joyba, calling out, "Mom, we're leaving, you can go back now!"

Wailord let out a long, echoing cry before slowly drifting away from the shore and beginning its journey.

Joyba smiled and waved back at Joyha. While Resurrection Island was dangerous, Joyba didn't worry much about her daughter. They were all from the battle Joy family, and Joyba knew her daughter's abilities well. Even if they did run into danger, Joyba believed her daughter could get out of it unscathed.

Although Joyha had volunteered to join this group, gathering Resurrection Grass was an important task for the Joy family. They would never treat it lightly. The fact that Joyha had been selected meant there were no issues with her strength.

On the day they set off, the sea was calm, and the sky was clear, making it an ideal day for sailing.

Joyha was incredibly excited on Wailord's back. She walked up to Yuga and asked, "Mr. Shimizu, is there anything fun to do on the sea? This is my first time out here!"

As a battle Joy, Joyha had spent plenty of time training in the wild, but she had never sailed before, so everything felt fresh to her.

Yuga had set up a small table and chair on Wailord's back and was currently sitting in the chair, reading through his notes.

These notes were something he had asked Lain for before departure, filled with her personal insights on incense-making, which were considered her secret teachings. She would never give them to anyone else if asked.

Yuga had put in a lot of effort to improve his incense-making skills.

Wailord, under Jonah's control, was sailing smoothly with no noticeable bumps or swaying, so it didn't interfere with Yuga's reading.

Hearing Joyha's question, Yuga answered, "Sea travel is actually quite dull for me. If you're bored, you can find something to pass the time. I don't have any good suggestions, but you could try reading like I am."

Joyha immediately frowned. She was lively and energetic, and the last thing she wanted to do was read. Back in school, she was always among the lowest achievers.

She thought Yuga just didn't understand the situation. Was she here because she was bored? No, she was trying to strike up a conversation.

Nearby, Joyra and the others noticed Joyha's disappointment and couldn't help but laugh at her.

Joyha's feelings for Yuga were no secret within the group.

Having failed to strike up a conversation, Joyha grabbed a chair and sat down opposite Yuga. While Yuga read his notes, she just watched him.

Next to Yuga sat Nana, who didn't like staying inside her Poké Ball, so as soon as they boarded Wailord, Yuga let her out.

Along with Nana, a newly evolved Salamence was released. It had just recently evolved and was extremely eager to fly.

The vast open sea was an ideal place for free flight, so as soon as Salamence was let out, it darted off without a care.

Nana was currently preparing milk tea. This milk tea was a creation of Audino, and it was very convenient to prepare—just tear open the package and add hot water.

Of course, Nana wasn't making it for Yuga; it was making it for itself.

As for the hot water for the milk tea, Nana had boiled it itself using a small iron stand with a kettle, and a small flame floated beneath it. In no time, the water was ready.

The ingredients for the milk tea were all sourced from Yuga's Ecopark, so the quality was very high. As soon as the milk tea was made, a unique fragrance wafted out, which Joyha, who was closest, immediately caught a whiff of.

Her eyes lit up, and she looked at Nana, asking, "What is that? It smells so good!"

"It's milk tea," Yuga replied, looking up, and then added, "Nana, make a cup for Joyha as well."

Nana nodded and took out another cup from its spatial backpack.

Nana's spatial backpack was the one Yuga had prepared. After receiving the Joy family's spatial backpack, Yuga had given his own to Nana to manage.

Once the milk tea was ready, Nana handed it to Joyha, who took a sip and let out a sigh of delight. "This is really good!"

Soon, Joyra and the others were also attracted by the rich aroma of the milk tea. They quickly grabbed their small stools and gathered around the table. Yuga had no choice but to ask Nana to make a cup for each of them.

Nana wasn't Audino, so it shot Yuga a disgruntled look as he gave it more tasks. Yuga could only sheepishly smile at it in return.

Everyone gathered around the table, sipping their milk tea and chatting. Yuga had no choice but to put his book down and join the conversation.

However, because of the milk tea, the group that had been quite unfamiliar with each other quickly warmed up. Joyha no longer felt bored.

No one knew how long the Wailord had been swimming, but the group of people chatting suddenly heard a loud roar. They looked up to see Yuga's Salamence flying rapidly toward them.

As they watched closely, they saw that Salamence was being attacked by a group of Corphish and Crawdaunt, who were firing Bubble and using their claws to attack. It was only when Salamence flew closer that they could clearly see the attackers.

Yuga had a headache. What had his Salamence done to provoke such an unrelenting chase?

After evolving, Salamence's personality had changed drastically.

When it was still a Bagon and Shelgon, it had been an obedient, well-behaved, and righteous Pokémon, but after evolving, Yuga noticed it had started resembling its father a little too much—getting somewhat mischievous.

Due to the number of Corphish and Crawdaunt, Salamence was being swarmed in the air, swerving and wobbling. It wasn't until Salamence got close that Yuga gave a command for Nana to assist it.

Nana instantly teleported to the front of Wailord, spreading its arms wide. A large number of green leaves gathered around its hands, transforming into countless sharp blades that were launched at Corphish and Crawdaunt.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Nana's magical leaves exploded on the sea's surface, hitting each Corphish and Crawdaunt precisely, forcefully disrupting their attacks.

Nana reduced the power of the attack, spreading out the force of each magical leaf. As a result, the damage was not severe, and Corphish and Crawdaunt only sustained minor injuries.

Seeing this, Corphish and Crawdaunt glanced at Nana and then at Salamence in the air. Realizing they weren't a match for Nana, they begrudgingly retreated.

Joyha and the others were stunned, exchanging glances. Had the Gardevoir that just made them milk tea been this strong? Should they feel lucky or scared?

However, Joyra wasn't surprised at all. She had seen Nana in action during their last trip to Resurrection Island, where Nana's strength had already been extraordinary. Although she didn't know exactly how much stronger Nana was now, it was clear that Nana had improved.

After Corphish and Crawdaunt withdrew, Salamence landed next to Yuga and affectionately nuzzled its neck against him.

Yuga, annoyed, asked, "What did you do to provoke them?"

Salamence opened its mouth, and beautiful blue gems started falling from its mouth. Joyha and the others, seeing the gems, exclaimed in surprise, "Water Gems!"

Yuga, rubbing his forehead helplessly, said, "You stole it from them, didn't you?"

Salamence avoided Yuga's gaze, then subtly nodded its head, clearly feeling guilty.

No wonder it was being chased! Yuga suddenly understood. Attribute gems were valuable to any Pokémon.

Although it wasn't at the Elite level, Pokémon couldn't fully absorb the energy from Attribute Gems, but the energy that leaked from the gems was enough to affect the surrounding Pokémon.

"Why did you steal someone else's Water Gem?"

Yuga just couldn't understand what his Salamence was thinking. If you had stolen a Flying Gem or a Dragon Gem, fine, those would be useful to you. But a Water Gem? What use did it have for you?

"If you want Attribute Gems, just tell me. I have some, and I can even give you a Dragon Gem and a Flying Gem. Why steal someone else's Water Gem?"

Yuga was now wealthy. Although Attribute Gems were rare, they weren't a problem for him. Giving a few to his Pokémon to play with was nothing.

Originally, Salamence had felt a bit guilty, but after hearing Yuga say he would give it Attribute Gems, its eyes instantly lit up, as if asking: "Really? Really?"

Salamence's reaction made Yuga feel a bad premonition. He looked into Salamence's eyes and asked, "Tell me honestly, why did you steal the Water Gem?"

Upon hearing Yuga's question, Salamence immediately became nervous again. It turned its head to the side and, after a long pause, muttered, "It... it just looked... pretty."

Pretty?

Yuga was baffled by Salamence's response. He suddenly remembered some rumors about certain Dragon-type Pokémon, who liked to collect shiny, beautiful things, especially valuable treasures.

Could it be that my Salamence has developed this bad habit? Dragonite has always been perfectly normal! Where did Salamence go wrong? It wasn't like this before!

Could it be its father's fault? After Salamence evolved, its father had indeed visited it once.

Yuga tentatively spoke to Salamence, "Stealing from others is wrong. How about we return these Water Gems?"

Upon hearing this, Salamence immediately shook its head. It had worked so hard to steal them!

Yuga could tell from Salamence's reaction that his suspicions were confirmed. He then said, "If you return these, I'll give you the same number of Dragon Gems and Flying Gems."

Salamence immediately became torn, thinking hard for a long while before reluctantly nodding in agreement, looking like it was in pain.

Seeing Salamence looking so distressed made Yuga even more frustrated. "It's just a few Attribute Gems, it's not a big deal!"

To prevent Salamence from getting beaten up while returning the Water Gems, Yuga sent Nana to accompany it.

Actually, the reason Salamence had been beaten up so badly by Corphish and Crawdaunt earlier was because it felt guilty for stealing from them and didn't want to harm them too much.

When Salamence and Nana returned, the Water Gems had already been returned.

Seeing Salamence looking at him expectantly, Yuga knew it was asking for the Dragon Gems and Flying Gems. He sighed helplessly and said, "I can't give them to you now, you don't have anywhere to put them. I'll give them to you when we get home."

Salamence thought for a moment and agreed, reluctantly. It looked as if it was doing Yuga a huge favor, which made Yuga want to hit something.
