Inside the Empress's chamber.
The curtains, embroidered with patterns resembling flowers and swirling waves, were slowly drawn back, revealing a baby cradle within.
The Snake Princess led Robin, Hancock, and Liam inside.
She gently raised a hand in gesture. The maidens bowed first to her and then to Robin, quietly retreating without a word.
The Snake Princess's chamber was filled with a faint floral fragrance. As they entered and approached the baby cradle, a light scent of milk could also be detected.
Liam, Hancock, Robin... and the figure in dark armor gathered around the cradle, leaning down to admire the legitimate Princess of Kuja island.
Liam wasn't yet ready to retract his Stand. B.I.B. usually seemed taciturn, but that was partly because even if it did speak, not many could hear it.
Essentially, it served as a reflection of Liam's spirit, and its thought processes were not too different from Liam himself. Given the name "Luffy," Liam was naturally curious about this legitimate Princess, and B.I.B. felt the same way.
Perhaps it was because the Snake Princess had just breastfed that the baby in the cradle was not making any noise.
Liam, without any shame, speculated that if the Snake Princess could take care of a child so easily on her own, she might be using Haoshoku Haki to assist with parenting, right?
A few strands of soft black hair fell over the baby's forehead. With a round face, the baby was sound asleep with closed eyes, looking exceptionally sweet and obedient.
"So ugly! Not cute at all..."
Hancock looked for a while, seemingly a bit disappointed, muttering softly.
Robin said, "Babies look like this when they're born..."
Hancock was surprised. "Have you seen a lot of newborn babies?"
"I read about it in books," Robin shook her head. Due to her Flower-Flower Fruit (Hana Hana no Mi) ability, she was seen as a monster in her hometown of Ohara; apart from the scholars, not many welcomed her, so she didn't have many opportunities to interact with babies.
After Ohara was destroyed, she fled through West Blue, and later entered the Grand Line with Liam, so there wasn't much to mention.
"When you were born, you weren't any prettier, you know. Hancock."
Liam turned his head and saw the Snake Princess lying sideways on a couch, her curves soft, her clothes cascading over the edge of the couch.
Hancock scoffed, "I don't believe that!"
Perhaps disturbed by their voices, the baby in the cradle opened its eyes.
"Wow! She's going to open her eyes!" Hancock exclaimed. "Luffy is awake... Hey! This is the gift I got you! Do you like it?"
She took out the snake-shaped pendant and shook it in front of the baby in the cradle.
The baby was naturally curious about the moving object and instinctively wanted to grab it.
Hancock saw that the little one had been trying for a while but hadn't managed to grasp the pendant. Eventually, exhausted, the baby didn't realize that its little hands were covered by the swaddling blanket and had not been pulled out.
She teased, "So silly!"
Saying this, she reached out and pulled the blanket from the cradle with one hand.
With Hancock's strength, even without having held a child before, she wouldn't accidentally drop it on the floor. Therefore, the Snake Princess calmly lay on the couch, smiling as she watched them play.
"Here, let me put it on you."
Hancock turned the pendant over and placed it around the baby's neck.
"Take good care of this, okay? This is a gift from the World's Greatest Beauty."
Hancock earnestly reminded, but suddenly she exclaimed in surprise, "What's this?"
It turned out that while pulling the baby's two little hands out of the blanket, holding "her" hands and tucking the snake-shaped pendant into "her" clothing, Hancock caught sight of something underneath the baby's clothes.
She didn't know the words for courtesy and politeness, so she simply yanked the baby's clothing open.
"Oh my gosh! What is this?"
Hancock cried out in alarm, looking panicked.
Robin leaned in to take a look and was also taken aback! She had thought this was a little Princess, but it turned out to be a little Prince!
Hancock pointed at Luffy's private area, flustered, and exclaimed, "Snake Princess! Something's wrong! Luffy's... is missing! There's something extra... something like..."
She paused. After contemplating for a moment, she described, "It looks like a mushroom!"
Hancock's imagination ran wild, and she exclaimed in shock, "Could it be that she ate one of those flowering mushrooms outside the City? But that's not right... if she ate that, she would be covered in mushrooms, not just... only here..."
She fell silent again.
The situation before her was far beyond Hancock's understanding...
"It's a boy," Robin couldn't take it anymore and reminded her. How could this girl be so lacking in common sense after a year in the outside sea?
A single statement awakened someone lost in a dream!
"Is this a boy?!" Hancock gasped in shock, immediately throwing the swaddling blanket away.
Fortunately, she was quick on her feet; recovering her composure, she leaped into the air to catch... to save Luffy.
"But why...?"
Hancock landed smoothly, cradling the swaddling blanket and looking curiously at the Snake Princess, who was lying on the couch. "Why would you, Snake Princess, give birth to a boy?"
"Hancock, you'll understand these things later."
The Snake Princess sighed, gently stroking Hancock and the baby boy's face in her arms, which was as smooth and delicate as a newborn's.
"Don't brush me off with that!" Hancock huffed, "I'm not a kid anymore! I'm twelve!"
The Snake Princess replied softly, "I mean, when you become a Snake Princess, you'll know everything you need to know."
At that, Robin fell into a moment of silence.
Hancock exhaled dramatically, "Well, since it's like that, there's nothing I can do! I forgive you."
With that, she no longer worried about why people from Kuja island only seemed to give birth to daughters, while the Snake Princess had a boy. Instead, she eagerly embraced the swaddling blanket and began to play with the little Prince... oh, Princess Luffy.
"Hmm... it really does look like a mushroom!"
"Hancock! Don't do that..."
Robin saw Hancock fiddling with Luffy, filled with curiosity, and quickly called for her to stop.
"What's wrong?" Hancock complained.
Robin felt helpless. She was a year younger than Hancock; why did she have to explain basic biological knowledge to her?
She leaned in and whispered, while Hancock calmly nodded, responding with "Mm!" and "Mm!" occasionally showing an expression of sudden realization.
The Snake Princess quietly observed, a smile playing at her lips.
Suddenly, she noticed that Giorno had been silent for quite a while. She glanced over and saw him staring oddly at her baby in the swaddle.
"Don't be mad, ahem... don't glare at me!" Hancock had never been humble with anyone, and at that moment, she struggled to find the right words. But soon, she didn't plan to apologize at all.
Because this little boy was being even more impolite! He wasn't looking at her while she was about to apologize; instead, he was staring elsewhere.
Now Hancock was unhappy. Even if he was a baby, he shouldn't ignore her!
But when Hancock followed the baby's gaze, she was taken aback.
Robin turned her head at the same time.
"Eek." The baby in the swaddle, Luffy, cooed softly, as if he had spotted something fun, his chubby little hands reaching toward the figure behind Hancock.
The figure in dark armor.
With so many eyes focused on him, B.I.B.'s long, narrow eyes glinted with white light, but they were solely fixed on the baby boy Luffy in Hancock's arms.
As their eyes met, B.I.B. fell into an even deeper silence, as if the ink-like dark eyes of Luffy drew him into a contemplative stillness.
