I’m Already A Great Emperor, And The System Wants Me To Be The Heroine’s Lackey?

Chapter 41 - The Male Lead Lin Chen, Hated by Thousands

The male lead, Lin Chen, was expelled from the Nine Suns Sect and had to find a secluded cave dwelling to live in.

Lin Chen initially thought that the foul odor would dissipate within a few days, but it persisted even when he arrived at the Xuantian Holy Land.

That day, other affiliated sects learned about the extremely foul-smelling disciple from the Nine Suns Sect named Lin Chen, who was a disciple of Fairy Miao Yin.

Others were puzzled as to why such a fragrant beauty like Fairy Miao Yin would take on such a stinky disciple.

The disciples from the other affiliated sects didn’t want to stay near the Nine Suns Sect. The steward elder of the Xuantian Holy Land had no choice but to draw lots, and as luck would have it, the short straw fell on the Illusionary Sound Valley.

Illusionary Sound Valley, judging by its name, was a sect with more female disciples. This time, it was the sect master who led the group, and she happened to have a good relationship with Fairy Miao Yin.

Immediately, the female sect master of Illusionary Sound Valley approached Fairy Miao Yin and tactfully suggested that Lin Chen be given a separate living arrangement because his stench was unbearable, and living near him was pure torture.

The Nine Suns Sect disciples agreed as well. Fairy Miao Yin pretended to be helpless and instructed Lin Chen to find a cave dwelling far from others.

Even Fairy Miao Yin couldn’t stand Lin Chen anymore. The stench was too much, and yet he still came to her every day to ask questions about cultivation.

If Lin Chen weren’t her disciple, she would have smacked him to death already. How could someone so smelly lack self-awareness and still insist on staying close to her?

The stewards of Xuantian Holy Land were also delighted to hear that Lin Chen would be living separately. After all, no one wanted to hold their breath every time they met these affiliated sects. That stench seemed to penetrate everywhere—one could smell it even without breathing.

They quickly found a desolate, uninhabited area for Lin Chen and set up a cave dwelling for him before promptly leaving.

As they left, they even posted warning signs nearby, indicating that Lin Chen from the Nine Suns Sect resided in the vicinity.

This area quickly became a place of dread for both the disciples of the Xuantian Holy Land and those from the affiliated sects.

As Lin Chen walked away, he kept glancing back at Fairy Miao Yin. Finally, he tenderly said to her, “Master, I’ll still come back every day to ask you about cultivation. I won’t make you miss me.”

Fairy Miao Yin immediately announced her seclusion, stating that she wouldn’t come out until Xuantian Holy Land opened its gates to welcome outer sect disciples.

Upon reaching his isolated cave dwelling, Lin Chen smashed a stone table and said, “The Xuantian Holy Land is too much. And those sects—once my cultivation improves, I will definitely take revenge on all of them.”

Elder Danyue, who had been silent, was overwhelmed by the stench and was feeling dizzy. He had no mood to offer comfort.

Seeing Elder Danyue’s silence, Lin Chen asked, “Master, haven’t you found a way to get rid of this odor?”

Lin Chen was on the verge of a breakdown at the thought of living with this stench for the rest of his life. How could he expect to embrace beauties when no one would like someone who smells so bad?

Elder Danyue shook his head and said, “No, this odor is too strange. I’ve never encountered anything like it.”

Elder Danyue also wanted to get rid of the stench. He himself was suffering from it and didn’t know how long it would last. He hoped it wouldn’t go on forever, feeling that if the stench continued, it might weaken his own spirit.

“Little Chen, let me see if I can find some fragrance to suppress this stench for now.” Elder Danyue said.

Lin Chen’s eyes lit up when he heard this solution. If the stench couldn’t be removed, at least it could be masked with a fragrance.

He urged Elder Danyue, “Master, hurry up and do it. Let me know if you need anything, and I’ll gather it as best as I can.”

“Alright,” Elder Danyue said, returning to his ring to begin his research.

The next day, Lin Chen used the fragrance Elder Danyue had concocted, and his body now exuded an indescribable scent. It was essentially the smell of a latrine mixed with floral perfume, pervading the area for miles.

When Lin Chen arrived at Fairy Miao Yin’s cave dwelling, he found that she had already entered seclusion.

Lin Chen gazed at Fairy Miao Yin’s cave with a touched expression, thinking that she must be feeling guilty for not protecting him and avoiding him by choosing seclusion.

He clenched his fists, silently vowing to repay Fairy Miao Yin properly.

Then he said to Elder Danyue, “Master, I need to improve my cultivation. Prepare some elixirs for me.”

“Mm,” Elder Danyue said. He was so overwhelmed by Lin Chen’s foul mixed odor that he didn’t want to talk much.

Elder Danyue had already adapted to the original stench, but with Lin Chen using the fragrance he made, the smell had become even worse, with an additional pungent odor that assaulted the senses and lingered in the mind.

Others noticed that Lin Chen’s smell had worsened, leading to rumors that he had been eating feces, as such a strong stench must come from somewhere unusual.

The rumors grew increasingly outrageous, eventually morphing into tales of Lin Chen eating and defecating simultaneously. After all, once a cultivator reached the Blood Tempering stage, they no longer needed to eat, drink, or relieve themselves. Instead, they could sustain themselves on spiritual energy and dew, so they had to be self-sufficient.

Now, whenever disciples of Xuantian Holy Land or the affiliated sects saw Lin Chen, they kept a distance of at least 20 meters from him.

Seeing everyone gossiping about him, Lin Chen thought it was due to his exceptional nature and that others couldn’t help but focus on him. His pride swelled, and he walked even more leisurely.

Elder Danyue, using his spiritual sense, overheard the discussions and saw Lin Chen’s proud demeanor. For the first time, he felt that Lin Chen might not be quite right in the head.

Back at the cave, Elder Danyue couldn’t help but ask Lin Chen, “Little Chen, do you feel proud of the gossip about you?”

“Master, of course! Only the strong attract attention,” Lin Chen said with satisfaction.

Elder Danyue confirmed that Lin Chen’s mindset was indeed quite different from his own. He simply said, “As long as you’re happy,” and stopped speaking.

Lost in his own fantasies, Lin Chen imagined himself dominating Jun Jiuxiao and the Xuantian Holy Land, embracing beauties on both sides.

On his left was the fairy he met during his last adventure, and on his right was his master, Fairy Miao Yin.

Lin Chen continued to smile foolishly, completely unaware of Elder Danyue’s puzzled look or that everyone actually despised him rather than admired him.

Jun Jiuxiao had no idea that his casual interference with the male lead had triggered such a massive chain reaction.
