Chapter 15.7: The Doll In The Box Part 4
A/N:You probably noticed Asha hasn't had much screen time. That's intentional, her voice is being… suppressed. As the entity creeping into Jin's mind, and it's shifting the balance.
---
Shūmei stood perfectly still, but the air around her crackled with enough violence to make frost creep across nearby surfaces.
"No one touches Jin-sama without permission," Shūmei said, each word sharp as shattered glass.
Eve clapped her hands together, bouncing on her toes. "Ooh, protective! Classic mate-guarding!" She practically skipped over to Shūmei, invading her personal space with zero hesitation. "You're totally my main rival! We should figure out who's boss now so we don't fight later."
Before anyone could react, Eve's hand shot out, fingers tracing along Shūmei's arm like a scientist examining a specimen.
"Wow, great muscles! And you smell like you've already been getting close with Jin!" Eve pulled a notebook from seemingly nowhere, flipping it open. "Have you guys slept together yet? I need to know how far you've gone so I can plan my moves!"
The blade appeared in Shūmei's hand so fast it seemed to materialize from thin air, pressing against Eve's throat. Cold steel met unnaturally warm skin, creating a thin trail of steam.
Eve looked down at the blade with genuine curiosity. "Oh! Super sharp blade! That could actually hurt me!" She sounded delighted. "You're way tougher than you look!"
"Eve," Jin's voice cut through the tension, low and warning. "Back off. Now."
Eve's entire demeanor shifted instantly. Her pupils dilated until her eyes were pools of crimson. She melted away from Shūmei's blade like smoke.
"Okay!" She reached up to touch Jin's face, her fingers leaving trails of tingling warmth on his skin.
Jin caught her wrist, grip firm but not painful. The contact sent visible shivers through Eve's small frame, and she made a sound like a purring cat.
"Ooh, showing dominance!" she gasped, practically vibrating with excitement. "Perfect! Our babies will be super strong!" She pressed closer, ignoring all concepts of personal space. "Should we do this in front of everyone or private? I've got ideas for both!"
She looked around the group with those unsettling eyes. "Anyone else hungry? I need lots of protein to stay healthy. Like, fresh meat. Warm meat. Preferably..." She trailed off, licking her lips with a tongue that was just slightly too long, "...never mind, probably not dinner talk!"
The implication hung in the air. Several people took an unconscious step back.
"So!" Eve clapped again, the sound echoing off metal walls. "Now that we're all friends, let's talk rooms! I need to sleep next to Jin. Soundproofing would be nice but not needed—making noise is normal when you're having sex!"
Sera snapped, her amber eyes flashing. "That's not happening."
"Oh, you're right! I should just move into his room!" Eve started toward the door, pulling Jin along with surprising strength for her small frame. "Come on, future baby daddy! We've got planning to do! I figured out the best times to make babies based on moon cycles—well, fake moon cycles since we're underground—"
"How about," Jin interrupted, finally finding his voice through the chaos, "we find you a room first. Then we can talk about... whatever this is."
Eve's eyes went wide with joy. "You want to date me! Amazing!!"
"No!" Multiple voices said in unison.
Maya Reeves, who'd been calculating structural weak points in case Eve went hostile, finally spoke up. "Okay, let's be real. She needs a room, stuff to eat, and probably a head doctor—"
"I have those!" Eve pulled out a thick folder from absolutely nowhere. "Six hundred pages of head doctor notes! The best part was 'kinda crazy but good at making babies'!"
The group exchanged glances—the kind that said 'what have we gotten ourselves into' in every language.
Shūmei stood perfectly still.
"No one touches Jin-sama without permission," Shūmei said, each word sharp as shattered glass.
Eve clapped her hands together, bouncing on her toes. "You're my main rival! We should totally figure out who's boss now so we don't fight later."
Before anyone could react, Eve's hand shot out, fingers tracing along Shūmei's arm like a scientist examining a specimen.
"Wow, nice muscles! And you smell like you've already been all over Jin!" Eve pulled a notebook from seemingly nowhere, flipping it open. "Have you guys slept together yet? I need to know how far you've gone so I don't repeat steps!"
The blade appeared in Shūmei's hand so fast it seemed to materialize from thin air, pressing against Eve's throat. Cold steel met unnaturally warm skin, creating a thin trail of steam.
Eve looked down at the blade with genuine curiosity. "Oh! Super sharp knife!
"Ooh, showing strength! Good move!" she gasped, practically vibrating with excitement. "Our babies will be super strong! Should we prove who's stronger in front of everyone or alone? I've got ideas for both!"
Sera stepped forward, her amber eyes flashing with irritation. "That's enough! You can't just grab people like that!"
Eve tilted her head, looking genuinely confused. "Why not? Physical contact establishes dominance hierarchies. It's basic social science. Didn't they teach you that at your fancy school?"
"We learned about personal boundaries," Sera said through gritted teeth. "Something you clearly missed."
"Boundaries are just suggestions," Eve said with a shrug, still trying to get closer to Jin. "Like clothes. Optional and mostly inconvenient."
Rosa snorted, crossing her arms with a smirk. "Well, I can't argue with the clothes part. But maybe try asking before you start feeling people up?"
Eve's eyes lit up. "Oh! Is that how humans do it? Ask first? That seems inefficient. What if they say no?"
"Then you respect that," Rosa said, her playful tone turning serious. "It's called consent. Look it up."
Eve pulled out her notebook again, scribbling furiously. "Note: Humans require verbal consent before physical contact. Must research further. Field testing recommended."
Elena had been watching silently, but now stepped forward, her gray eyes alight with scientific interest. "You said you're part Crawler? That should be impossible. The virus kills people fast."
Eve spun to face Elena, still maintaining contact with Jin like a magnet. "The Chimera Project fixed that! They used Jin's family blood to make a mix that works." She grinned, showing those too-sharp canines. "I'm half monster! But the good parts! Super strong, heal fast, see better—none of that crawling on all fours stuff!"
"Fascinating," Elena murmured, her cybernetic eye whirring as she analyzed Eve. "The viral stabilization alone would revolutionize medical science. If we could isolate the antibody markers..."
"You can help me with my babies!" Eve said excitedly. "We could make them even stronger! Maybe add some cool features like extra arms or poison spit!
"Y-You're half Crawler?" Clara's voice came out as a whisper, her tablet clattering to the floor with a plastic crack. The data streams in her glasses reflected her horror. "That's... that's impossible. The Crawler virus destroys brain function within hours. There's no way to maintain human consciousness while infected."
Eve beamed, clearly proud. "That's what makes me special!!"
Lin Xu stepped forward, her gentle expression troubled. "You mentioned eating people? That's... that's terrible."
"Only the ones who smelled bad!" Eve defended, looking genuinely confused by the concern. "And I was kinda crazy back then from not eating enough. The scientists wrote it was 'sad but useful info'!"
"Sad for who?" Anna Volkov asked quietly, her analytical mind already processing the implications. "The people you ate, or the scientists who created you?"
Eve tilted her head, considering this. "Hmm. Good question. I think it's mostly sad for the people I ate. They didn't taste very good anyway."
Jin felt the Entity stirring in his mind.
*She's more dangerous than she looks,* the Entity whispered. *That smile hides something that would eat everyone here if it got hungry enough.*
*I know,* Jin thought back, watching Eve practically vibrate with excitement as she sized everyone up.
"So!" Eve clapped again, the sound echoing off metal walls. "Now that we're all friends, we should talk rooms! I need to sleep next to Jin. Soundproofing would be nice but not needed—making noise is normal when you're having sex!"
