Chapter 7
“… Phew.”
During lunch break, I was eating my bento at the back door of the gymnasium.
This place is almost deserted during the day, and there are benches, probably for club activities.
It’s like an oasis for a loner like me, where I don’t have to worry about prying eyes.
I feel the warmth of spring and absentmindedly gaze at the clear blue sky.
Indeed, being alone is calming…
“I want to kiss you.”
Ah!
The events of last night suddenly come to mind.
Yesterday, I was suddenly kissed by Kuramiya. (And it was an incredibly deep one, too.)
I can’t get it out of my head.
Because it was so intense! Our saliva mingled! I was completely the prey.
Her eyes seemed moist at the time, almost as if she were in heat.
And then, after the kiss…
“Will you marry me?”
I was proposed to for the first time in my life and froze, completely overwhelmed.
To that, Kuramiya said,
“Ah, wait! That, um, that wasn’t what I meant!”
Her face turned red, and she ran away like a startled rabbit.
What does she mean by wait? What wasn’t what she meant?
Ah, help me, Grandma. I don’t understand women at all…
I didn’t know how to face her today. Anyway, there’s no opportunity for a loner like me to interact with Kuramiya. I was just watching the usual Kuramiya from the corner of the classroom.
Honestly, the last person I want to see right now is—
“… So you were here.”
Kuramiya appears, slightly out of breath, holding a plastic bag in her right hand.
Why is she here? She usually eats lunch with her close friends, like Shirasaki and Kise!
Could it be… she came to see me?
…Why?
“…”
Huh? Wait, why is she silent? Didn’t she come looking for me?
Why is she staring at me? It’s awkward… and scary… Someone help me…
“Don’t take yesterday seriously, okay?”
“…Huh?”
“You think someone like me would fall for a loner and socially awkward guy like you?”
“Um…”
“Don’t get me wrong. I don’t like you at all!”
Is she a tsundere!?
“Then why did you do that?”
“That’s what I want to know!”
“Uh…”
Her words don’t feel like a lie, unlike the fake confession. To detect a lie, the person has to be aware that they’re lying.
So, probably, she herself doesn’t understand the kiss from yesterday! Kuramiya, you’ve gone beyond interesting and entered the realm of dangerous.
“… Anyway, that’s what it is.”
After unilaterally saying what she wanted to, Kuramiya sits down next to me with a sigh.
Huh? Sitting next to me? Isn’t she going back to the classroom? Just go back already!
My thoughts don’t reach her, and Kuramiya starts eating bread from the plastic bag.
“… I’ll be going, then.”
“Wait.”
Kuramiya grabs my wrist as I try to flee.
“You’re going to leave me here alone?”
You’re the one who came here! Suppressing that thought, I reluctantly sit back down.
I guess I have to wait for her to finish eating… With that in mind, I watch Kuramiya.
My eyes inadvertently catch her lips.
Well, it can’t be helped! Because of what happened yesterday! I’m excusing myself internally when—
“What are you looking at?”
Kuramiya notices my gaze. It seems she caught on.
“Don’t get carried away just because we kissed, okay? It’s not that big of a deal in high school.”
Ah, I see… For popular people like her, a kiss is nothing.
True, popular people seem to kiss indiscriminately. So Kuramiya must be kissing guys left and right, too.
I was just one of many guys after all.
“That’s true… Unlike me, you’re popular, so you must have lost count of your kisses.”
“What!? I’m not that easy! It was my genuine first kiss! There’s no way I’d casually kiss anyone! Are you an idiot!?”
Huh!? Which is it!?
My peaceful lunch break was destroyed by Kuramiya, who went from kissing and proposing to acting like a tsundere.
