I’m a Human among Fey

I think I smell flowers. I can't really move my body. But I think I can open my eyes.
Looking around, it's like a flower garden. There are hundreds of flowers surrounding my bed and... Is this Hildi?
I try to call out to her but only gurgles leave my mouth.

"Sammy!? Sammy! Can you hear me?! It's me!!"

I try to answer again but only grunts and gurgles leave my mouth before I feel tired again. When I next open my eyes, Hildi is sleeping in a bed next to me.
But why?
I close my eyes again and when I open them, Hildi is sitting next to my bed reading a book.

"Hi…Hil…di?"

"Sammy!? Sammy, are you ok?"

Moving my head a bit I look down on my body. It is covered in bandages.

"No…"

"Sammy, it breaks my heart seeing you like this. I wish I could have gotten there earlier. Every day I see you like this I wish I could have been there earlier!"

"But…Why?"

Tears streaming down her face, she answers, "Because you're my daughter, you dummy!"

"Did…Read…Letter?"

"I did! And I don't care!!! You're Sammy! You're my daughter! I don't care who or what you were before! You are right, I've never met Samuel! I just know the scared little girl wanting hugs and getting embarrassed when she acts like the kid she is. The girl that came to me and laughed when I threatened her. That girl who is so smart on so many things but so clueless on so many others. The girl that can be so incredibly prideful but always learns from her mistakes. The girl that always stands back up no matter how many times she falls down. That's the Sammy I know and love and that's the Sammy you are now. No matter who you were before!"

"But… Took… Advantage."

"Of what!? Of me wanting to do things for you? Of me wanting to share things with you? Of me wanting to have fun around you? Of me wanting to keep you safe? Those are things that I wanted to do! At no point did you take advantage of me!"

"But… I'm… Evil."

"Stop saying stuff like that! Would an evil person treat their servant with dignity!? Would an evil person make a Familiar their friend with no strings attached!? Would an evil person's deepest desire be to be loved!? Would an evil person leave the only person that makes them happy forever for their sake!? Would an evil person throw their life away to save someone that was simply kind to them!? You're not evil! You're a kind pure soul and that's why you deserve love! I love you Sammy! And please use your soul seeing eyes to confirm this! I want you to be 100% sure with every fiber of your being that I still love you!"

I turn on my soul seeing eyes like she asked and…It's pink…

I try my best to look Hildi directly in the face, tears streaming down my face.

"Pink…It's pink…I…Love…So much…Mom"

"Mommy loves you too Sammy!!!"

I can't even wipe the tears off my face because my arm is in so much pain when I move it but yet… I'm smiling. But still, it becomes harder and harder to keep my eyes open. I think…I need to sleep some more.

Over the next week, I start getting better. Being able to speak again and slowly move my body. Hildi also told me what happened on that day. Apparently Ugri tried to stuff AbBEE in a bee hive but she didn't want that, so she followed my order and stopped hanging out with him. She then came to my room, read my letter and woke Hildi. Apparently Hildi was so distressed when she ran into my room and found my clothes and kidlets there, that she nearly broke down because the kidlets were the only way for her to track me.
She then tried to commune with her Familiars who told her that they'd seen me and from the direction I was going she assumed I might be with Birch, Holly and Willow. So she ran there as fast as she could and had a huge fight with them because they didn't want to share where exactly I had gone. It was only when they heard my guttural screams of pain that they yielded and went to save me.
Apparently, shortly after being engulfed, Willow extended her hair like a whip and ripped my still burning body away from the bandits, losing most of her long hair in the process, threw me towards her sisters who then started to use Energy and Life magic to keep the flames low and my body alive. According to Hildi, there were many times where my body was just muscle and sometimes it even burned down to the bone. I almost died ten times that day. Then, when they stabilized me enough to move me, Hildi wanted to stay behind to fight off the bandits that were after me but luckily a bunch of knights appeared with Pubert in tow and killed and dispersed most of them, allowing for Hildi to stay with me.
She promptly called an emergency doctor of the Silent Leaf who nearly gave up on me but kept going because he was scared Hildi would kill him if he stopped. He seemed to do the best he could but my body was weak and my healing was starting to fail so all she could do was wait as she watched me. Pavel also pitched in helping me heal by functioning as a conduit between Hildi and me, transfusing her mana into me allowing for my body to use her mana to heal while my mana recovered.
She also told me how I was in a coma for three weeks and how I had many visitors bringing flowers.
In the end I was saved by others again, it seems like I really can't do anything on my own…But with people like this around me, does it really matter?
We also have to move to a human city soon. Just for a bit, to be on the safe side. The Guards seemed to have picked up a trail on me as they talked to Sally and Miriam asking about the snowy weather in the area. They didn't have enough evidence for a warrant though, so they just told them they don't talk to cops and that was that.
To think that Hildi would purposefully go to a human town though…It must mean it's bad. I am kind of looking forward to it though! Will be interesting to see how civilized humans live in this world. We'll move there soon, once I have recovered enough to be left alone at home without being in danger of dying. There is a certain…Uncertainty in it though that makes me feel restless. But if there is one thing I do know is, that I have people surrounding me that care. This time, we're going on an adventure together. Huzzah!
