If You Could Hear My Heart

Chapter 1508 Intolerable Noise

Xu Chaomu was watching the remote monitoring while holding her phone.

Then, she saw that Shen Chi hung up her call! Hung up! Hung! Up!

Xiao Mo chuckled, "President Shen, not taking your wife's call?"

"I'll deal with it after finishing things here," Shen Chi replied.

As he spoke, Shen Chi picked up the player from the ground again.

This trip wasn't in vain; he had been asking Bai Man about the whereabouts of the video, and now, he'd found it.

Xiao Mo gave the player a meaningful glance, smirked, and stayed silent.

Shen Chi suddenly thought of something and asked, "Do you think my wife scolds people vehemently?"

"Huh? President Shen, haven't you been scolded at home before?"

But after saying this, Xiao Mo shut his mouth immediately... He'd said the wrong thing.

Shen Chi shot him a glare, "Your year-end bonus? You're not getting a single cent!"

"..." Xiao Mo wondered if he could take his words back. Shen Chi was... too ruthless.

His year-end bonus was worth enough to buy a villa!

Xu Chaomu heard everything from the bedroom. So this was how Shen Chi bullied Xiao Mo? Haha... She was laughing so hard she couldn't stop.

Just as she was laughing gleefully, she didn't notice that Shen Chi had gotten into the car.

As soon as Shen Chi got in, he heard Xu Chaomu laughing. He knocked on the monitoring device and barked, "What's so funny?"

"Haha... nothing... I wasn't laughing..." Xu Chaomu clutched her stomach, but she couldn't stop laughing.

Shen Chi gave her a sidelong glance, "Lunch? How's it coming along?"

That's when Xu Chaomu remembered her agreement with Shen Chi. She quickly jumped off the bed, "I'll get it ready right away!"

"Will it be ready by the time I get home?"

"Definitely!" Xu Chaomu said confidently.

Shen Chi chuckled and turned off the monitoring device.

However, he had already taken the chip out of Bai Man's player and inserted it into the car's media player system.

Turns out, this was the hotel surveillance video Xu Chaomu had been wanting all along. It was the first time he'd laid eyes on it.

He'd always found the matter nerve-wracking and hadn't looked into it further. Later, when he found out the person that night was Xu Chaomu, his interest was piqued.

Adding on what Bai Man said earlier, Shen Chi was now even more intrigued.

He pressed play and found himself on the video.

That night, he couldn't remember how much he'd drunk. It was their wedding anniversary, and memories had overwhelmed him. He only recalled drinking one glass after another.

He hadn't expected someone to use it against him—and that someone was Jian Sisi.

Still, he also hadn't imagined that just like the mantis stalking the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind, Shen Shihan had arranged for someone to take him to Xu Chaomu's room.

That night had been such a spectacle; everyone who should've been there was, but the truth didn't surface until last year.

He watched himself entering the room, and then the video turned pitch-black.

He really had no recollection of what happened that night. The room was entirely dark; he couldn't see a thing. All he knew was that he had been with a woman.

Having drunk too much and also been drugged by Jian Sisi, the video soon played sounds that were quite unspeakable.

"..." Shen Chi rubbed his forehead. He and Xu Chaomu had both been drunk—was it destined to be a spark meeting dry tinder?

That was Xu Chaomu's first time. She kept crying out in pain, asking him to be gentler. It wasn't as scandalous as Bai Man had described, though.

That night, his actions were indeed rough and not just once; she likely hated him to death for it.

Since the video went completely dark, Shen Chi deemed there was nothing more to watch and drove the car. He didn't turn off the video, though.

He drove all the way back home, sat in the garage for a while, and only then did the "strange" sounds finally come to an end.

Was he that... enduring on his first time?

Shen Chi chuckled, turned off the video, removed the chip, and smirked to himself.

Xu Chaomu was busy in the kitchen, preparing lunch. She had promised to prepare it for Shen Chi herself and wouldn't go back on her word.

After all, he hadn't broken his promise—he had returned safely.

"Mom, you can cook?" Xiaobao, who was just back from school, looked at Xu Chaomu in disbelief.

"Hush up. Your mom's cooking is incredible. It's just that she doesn't usually need to cook," Xu Chaomu replied.

"Wow, Mom, you're amazing." Xiaobao stared at Xu Chaomu innocently. "But Mom, why are you cooking today?"

"No choice. Your dad wanted to eat something your mom made herself."

"Dad gets better food than Xiaobao." Xiaobao pouted seriously, "Does Dad really like Mom's cooking that much?"

Xu Chaomu proudly declared, "Of course, your mom's cooking is delicious. It's only natural that Dad loves it."

"I want to eat too!" Xiaobao was getting impatient.

"Nope," Xu Chaomu slapped his hand away.

"So blue... and so upset," Xiaobao said with a pouty face.

"..." Xu Chaomu's lip twitched. "Where did you learn that?"

"That kid next door, Xiaojian..."

"..." Xiaojian? Little jerk?!

Just then, Shen Chi walked in and saw Xu Chaomu diligently cooking in the kitchen. It looked like she was making dry pot shrimp. Although... the shrimp seemed a bit burnt.

"Dad, you're back!" Xiaobao eagerly ran over. "Mom said her cooking is amazing, and she said it's Dad's favorite!"

"Hmm..." Shen Chi fell into thought. Was lying to a child really okay?

"I want to eat! I want to eat!" Xiaobao jumped excitedly.

"Go wash your hands. Once done, you can have some shrimp," Xu Chaomu said.

"Okay!"

Xiaobao hopped off to wash his hands. Shen Chi, meanwhile, circled around Xu Chaomu, hugged her waist from behind, and whispered, "Are you sure you're going to serve Xiaobao this burnt stuff?"

"If he doesn't eat it, it's all yours." Xu Chaomu grinned slyly.

"And if I don't eat it either?"

Shen Chi's voice grew husky, his warm breath tickling her neck. Xu Chaomu felt a tingling sensation spreading over her skin.

After hearing those sounds throughout his drive, Shen Chi couldn't deny—he was struggling to hold back.

Xu Chaomu felt something pressing against her from behind. She blushed and stammered, "Let go of me! What if someone sees us?"

"Leave this burnt shrimp behind. I'll take you to see something good," Shen Chi tempted her with coaxing tones.

"What's something good? But let me tell you, seeing it remotely earlier... At first, I was really scared, but then I found it funny. Do you think I'm heartless? Although if I am, it's from being around you too much."

"Shouldn't you feel relieved?" Shen Chi asked.

Xu Chaomu nodded. "Yeah, it's a relief. Otherwise, it constantly felt like someone was watching every day."

"Me too," Shen Chi said, stroking her hair.

He wasn't afraid of corporate competitors, but he feared scheming individuals.

And Bai Man was exactly that—a schemer among schemers. She was relentlessly devious, dangerously manipulative—a woman who sent chills down anyone's spine just by thinking of her.

"So, what's the lesson you should take from all this?" Xu Chaomu asked seriously.
