Shen Chi glanced at the little woman, curving his lips into a smile.

Perhaps Xu Chaomu was the only person who never deliberately tried to cater to him. She did whatever she wanted, carefree to the point of being a little silly and pure.

Sitting across from each other, Shen Chi patted his thigh. "Come sit here."

Xu Chaomu, holding the fork, shook her head. "No."

"I'm not going to eat you."

"Who knows," Xu Chaomu wasn't falling for it and shook her little head.

"I'm not that much of an animal."

"You might not be 'that' much of an animal, but you can be 'quite' an animal," Xu Chaomu blinked and said.

"…" Shen Chi's mouth twitched. So, she was cheeky now.

Since she wouldn't come over, Shen Chi just stood up, tossed the fork in her hand onto the tray, and, with a big hand, scooped her up onto his lap.

She had given birth less than two months ago, so he wasn't as much of an animal as she accused him of being. He just wanted to cuddle her.

Especially after hearing what Bai Man had said earlier today, he admitted he had overlooked some things, hadn't been considerate enough, and had inadvertently wronged her.

Xu Chaomu was afraid of falling, so she wrapped her arms around Shen Chi's waist. With a mischievous smile, she said, "The doctor said there are still some things we can't do yet. So if you feel uncomfortable later, don't blame me."

"Shut up."

Xu Chaomu laughed, "Do you want another bite of cake?"

Shen Chi leaned down, and his cool yet seductive lips sealed her red lips, leaving her no chance to speak.

After kissing her for dozens of seconds, he finally looked into her eyes and said, "You taste much better than cake."

"Shen Chi, you weren't this shameless when you were younger. Back then, you were all aloof and cold, like an ice cube!" Xu Chaomu exclaimed. "If I got closer to you, you distanced yourself. If I hugged you, you pushed me away. If I tried to kiss you, you glared at me."

"I just didn't want you starting a puppy love," Shen Chi quirked his lips.

"Excuses!" Xu Chaomu poked him.

The two exchanged some soft whispers for a while. Listening to the sound of the gently flowing water outside the window, they felt an overwhelming sense of peace and clarity, completely at ease.

The light from the table lamp shone on them, giving the scene a delicate veil-like glow.

Even on the balcony, the temperature was perfectly controlled. It wasn't cold. Leaning against Shen Chi's chest, Xu Chaomu felt warmth in her heart.

"You met Bai Man today?" Xu Chaomu asked.

"Yeah, I saw her."

"Did you ask her the questions I told you to? I want to hear about it."

"Why are you so curious?"

"I'm not like you, always so rational," Xu Chaomu pouted. "I'm just curious, I love to overthink, and I'm sensitive, okay?"

"You really make your flaws sound so justified."

"Hurry up and tell me."

Shen Chi looked at her and patiently recounted everything that had been said between him and Bai Man earlier today in the visitor room.

When Shen Chi talked about Bai Man's plan to bring Xiaobao back to claim kinship and try to position herself as Mrs. Shen, Xu Chaomu's eyes widened in shock.

So this was Bai Man's plan.

So she really had been methodical about it.

This wasn't some spur-of-the-moment idea but likely a carefully calculated scheme spanning five years—a deeply manipulative and ruthless plan.

When it came to Bai Man giving Xiaobao the medicine, Shen Chi skimmed over it casually, but Xu Chaomu wouldn't let it go.

"What exactly was the medicine Bai Man gave Xiaobao? How much did he take? Are there any side effects? Did you take him to the hospital for a checkup?" Xu Chaomu threw out a barrage of questions.

"That was a drug meant to affect intelligence. Do you think Xiaobao looks like he has any problems?" Shen Chi countered.

"…" Well, Xu Chaomu thought Xiaobao seemed fine.

"I've already told you; Xiaobao barely took any. It had no effect on his health."

"Oh, that's good." Xu Chaomu sighed in relief.

As a mother, her heart twisted hearing about this.

Bai Man truly was venomous, targeting a baby.

Fortunately, her plan didn't succeed.

"Honey, if Bai Man had succeeded, would she be Mrs. Shen now? Your wife?" Xu Chaomu asked curiously, looking at Shen Chi.

"First of all, she would never succeed. Second, I only have one wife, and her name is Xu Chaomu."

"If she really used Xiaobao against you, are you saying you wouldn't marry her?"

"If I was going to marry her, I would've done so seven years ago."

Xu Chaomu thought about it. That made sense.

She also knew Shen Chi didn't like Bai Man.

"Mumu, Bai Man asked me a question today. She asked if you think Xu Chaomu's love for you is so pure," Shen Chi said, resting his chin in his hand, watching Xu Chaomu.

Xu Chaomu giggled, wrapped her arms around his neck, and leaned in closer.

She stared at his face for a long time before finally replying with a smile, "Of course, it's not pure. I married you because you're good-looking."

"…" Shen Chi's mouth twitched. That was one reason he hadn't seen coming.

"If you weren't good-looking, I wouldn't have married you," Xu Chaomu teased with a laugh.

But, even though she said that, only she knew how much she loved him.

No strings attached, no motives—just love, pure and simple…

"Then I guess my love for you isn't so pure either," Shen Chi raised an eyebrow.

"Hmm? Then what did you see in me? I don't have money…"

"I fell for your… delicate body, soft curves, and how easily you… fall for me."

As he spoke, Shen Chi's hands started to misbehave.

Then, he lowered his head and whispered ambiguously into her ear, "I can never get enough of you in bed…"

"You're shameless!"

"I only want you."

Shen Chi once again leaned down to kiss Xu Chaomu, but this time the kiss lingered much longer. He poured all the unspoken feelings into that kiss.

After being teased by Shen Chi, Xu Chaomu retaliated by intentionally rubbing against his thigh.

Shen Chi felt his whole body heat up. He let her go and gave her a stern look, sighing helplessly, "Let's just talk. Don't get handsy."

"You started it," Xu Chaomu said innocently.

"All I used was my mouth," Shen Chi raised an eyebrow. "And I'm giving you permission to use yours."

The double entendre made Xu Chaomu's face turn bright red.

Once Shen Chi started being suggestive, his boldness was unstoppable.

Compared to Shen Chi, Xu Chaomu felt like an innocent amateur.

Shen Chi shared everything Bai Man had said during their meeting. Xu Chaomu pondered for a while.

She shook her head, "I can't imagine someone being so cruel. But, honey, I think she was way too overconfident. Her plans might seem flawless on the surface, but they'd only succeed if we were all idiots."
