Chapter 17 - Morning at the Marquis House

The day at the Marquis Hrozvitnir household started with Nisha and Brigid sharing an affectionate moment. Three months had passed since Nisha’s adoption, and her presence had brought subtle changes to Diarmid, who often wore a neutral expression. The butler saw this as a positive sign.

At breakfast, Brigid was teaching Nisha manners, an essential skill for an aristocrat. Nisha, the heir to the Marquis’s family, needed to attend the prep tea party at the cathedral, where aristocratic children learned social etiquette.

Diarmid, appreciative of Nisha’s progress, commented on her improved manners, giving credit to Brigid. Nisha beamed at the praise, her tail wagging with happiness. Brigid was smitten with Nisha’s appearance.

Diarmid received an invitation for Nisha to attend the prep tea party, which required parents to be present. Diarmid, using the title “Marchioness,” expressed his desire for Brigid to attend as well, clearly indicating that he wanted her to be there.

Brigid inquired about the hosting family for this event, which rotated among noble families. Diarmid revealed that it was the Marquis of Midgard family.

“Are they from the intellectual Marquis of Midgard family?” Brigid asked, eliciting a nod from Diarmid.

Brigid then explained the dynamics among the three marquis families in the country. The Marquis Hrozvitnir family was known for its martial prowess, the Marquis Sleipnir family was seen as righteous, and the Marquis of Midgard family was highly regarded by civilian officials. The relationship between these families was amicable, but people around them often picked sides.

Nisha hesitated, expressing her lack of confidence, not in her manners, but in potentially losing Brigid’s guidance once she attended the tea party. Diarmid, straightforward as always, suggested hiring another governess if Brigid’s guidance didn’t yield results.

However, when Brigid apologized and considered the idea of introducing another governess, Nisha panicked, vehemently denying any fault on Brigid’s part. She mustered the courage to attend the tea party, not wanting a new governess. Diarmid, observing Nisha’s determination, couldn’t help but grin.

Brigid, still concerned, assured Nisha that she didn’t need to force herself. Diarmid supported this sentiment.

Nisha, cute as ever, asked if she could do her best. Brigid blushed and struggled to respond, overwhelmed by Nisha’s cuteness. Diarmid intervened, reassuring Nisha that it was okay to be herself.

Diarmid suggested that Brigid should wear the magic stone jewelry he had given her to the tea party. Brigid hesitated, considering the jewelry too precious to wear. She explained that it was Nisha Kyun’s concept jewelry and that she didn’t want to lose it.

Diarmid was taken aback by this and laughed heartily. He expressed his happiness that Brigid treasured the jewelry so much. The maids in the room were surprised to see Diarmid in such high spirits.

As they laughed and shared a warm moment, Nisha couldn’t help but feel a pang of jealousy. She loved Brigid dearly, and she didn’t like seeing her uncle, Diarmid, making her mother smile so happily. Nisha’s possessive wolf nature made it hard for her to open up to Diarmid completely.

Brigid, sensing Nisha’s unease, gently patted her head, immediately putting Nisha at ease. Nisha’s tail wagged happily as she expressed her love for her mom, glad to have her attention.
