Chapter 193: Power
Arc 3, Chapter 193—Power.
.
.
Boom!!!
A small explosive sound bellowed as the scroll unraveled fully.
What?
Before Levon could make heads or tails of the matter, he noticed the top right corner begin to burn into ashes by a mysterious blue flame.
'You've got to be kidding me!'
Levon's eyes swished fiercely across the fast-burning paper, grabbing all the information he could before it completely turned to ashes. He frowned, the muscles in his forehead now seizing.
'Its strange…' He concluded. 'From what I gathered earlier, we should have the leeway of picking our own missions on the board… So what's this?'
Levon stared at the ground while listening to the conversations from the many groups around him.
"Tsk. I guess we have to pick a mission on the board… entry missions."
"Yeah. I saw on my scroll that we will be assigned a supervising Slayer guardian during these first missions until we can move on our own."
"Well then… What are we waiting for? I say we go pick the good ones before they're all taken!"
The conversations from those around were evident to see. It seemed that even Hendrix, Floriana, and several other special ones, also had more or less the same information engraved on their scrolls.
So why?…
Artilla, Rayna, Leo, Shugo and Levon, looked at each other tactfully.
Well, now… this was quite an interesting turn of events. But how interesting it will be, is something only the future will decide.
Not wanting to seem too off from the norm, they followed the others to the mission board.
Already, it was clear to see who was in what department with the way each group dispersed.
For Department 1—Intelligence, there were quite a few special groups Levon paid attention to:
—Victorio and his goons.
—Hendrix, Payne and their group.
—& Gorgendoyle with his group.
These 3 major groups were assigned to a Department headed by the one and only ROUD.
For Department 3—Security, Levon took note of yet another 3 major groups assigned to this department:
—Bloomingdale and his group,
—Redclar and his goons,
—& finally, a group with Lilian in it.
And then there's Department 4—Battle and Retrieval… a department header by Gaara.
It would be a lie to say Levon wasn't surprised by how many teams Gaara had managed to fight and win over. The major groups assigned to his Department were;
—Floriana and her group of girls,
—Viren and his gang,
—Batista and his group,
—Potchmay and his team,
—& finally, Him, Levon and his team.
No matter how you look at it, it was incredible how Gaara had managed to draw in almost all the top 10… no! Top 30 Bloodren 10s into Department 4.
Well, that was that. From now on, they will no longer move together in large groups, heading for classes and whatnot.
From now on, they were on their own, and would maybe see each other once in a while, seeing as they still live in the same place… But should someone advance faster than normal and heads into Bloodren 9, then the gap between them would only grow more and more.
Who knows… maybe there will be a time when they don't see each other for months and possibly years.
Everyone seemed to understand that time waited for no one. To advance, the only way is to gain more experience, take up missions, and meet the many criteria in place ahead of time.
Earlier, they were extremely hungry, since they hadn't eaten yet. However, now the hunger was gone. It was as though it was ever there in the first place, like a dream they conjured.
…
Florianna in her sleepy state, suddenly opened her eyes with grace.
Then, scanning through the 3rd bulletin board on the right hand corner of the wall, she looked through the bottom half of the vast bulletin.
{ Entry Missions—000 }
That was how missions for them would be named for the time being.
Unless they gathered enough mission points to take on Entry Missions—010, then they will be stuck with the 000, Mission code.
Again, one must never forget that a single bulletin board was 56 feet long… that's the length of an entire modern-day house. With their enhanced mission, they didn't need to walk left to right and right to left.
Narrowing her gaze, Floriana swept her lazy eyes across the bulletin.
"Boss, what'cha think?" Rolo was munching on snacks, while Yimu was doing her nails in an unfazed manner.
Natalia with her Giant peacock Haori, only smiled softly, while Rita was playfully moving over 10 toothpicks across her fingers.
No one was in a rush. They all had confidence in their Boss.
5 minutes later, Florianna had made her selection… But how to accept a mission as yours?
Florianna watched other older Bloodrens and even Bloodren 9s and 8s, observing their actions. Then, she too did the same, heading towards the many front desk staff.
"Mission 000-0000145." The staff repeated the same words Florianna spoke, as though reminding herself of the code. "Wait here."
The staff didn't go far, turning a corner and inserting a scribbled piece of paper into a section of a wooden wall covered with peculiar vines.
Soon the vines munched on the paper, parting and accepting the words written on it.
In no time the Staff returned with another wrapped up scroll with a white black ribbon tied around the golden-brown parchment paper.
"Your Marks…" The staff continued.
Bam! Bam! Bam! Bam! Bam!
The staff stamped the paper 5 times, before stamping the Tattoo marks of all 5 members. The burn this time was significantly less. It almost felt like a tinkle.
"The Mission is yours." The staff continued. "You have 2 days to digest the mission before the 2 rolled up parchment papers turn to ashes."
The Staff paused. "In addition to this, you will be granted 285 credited General Points to use during your first mission."
Should they squander it all, then that's their freaking business.
In case anyone is blind, everything in this place can be acquired from General points.
You want to eat?—use your Tattoo as payment. The General points are stored in your Tattoo.
You want sleeping accommodations while in the Bloodline?—Sorry, do you have General points to spare?
Tsk.
One must also know that General points can also be extracted in the many banks around and converted into real currency Slayer for one when leaving the Blood Line.
Of course, the currency they use is different from that of the outside world. However, they guarantee you that should you represent their mysterious currency anywhere in the world, it will be passable.
…
Vmmm~
The moment the mission was stamped and granted to Florianna's group, it vanished from the Bulletin board, erased in a ghostly fashion.
Tucking the scroll into her inner pockets, Floriana continued sleeping while her awakened body followed her group out.
Hendrix took on his mission, as did many others.
"What? How is this fair? I just heard you give that guy, 230 Credited points! So why do I get only 11?" the complainer pointed at another member in Hendrix's team.
Some people were already complaining, especially when they recalled how they slept outside the streets of District 57 during their first visit after passing the Phase 2 competitions.
They had gone into taverns and Inns, only to be told a one-night rest in the cheapest room would cost 2 points.
Mind you, the room in question looked like a barn with pigs in it.
They willingly agreed, only to be told they had NO points. So can you already see how freaking expensive going on a mission is?
That was for the lowest accommodation. So imagine if they want a standard normal room?... Won't that be 5 or 6 Points or something?
Who knows… maybe the price will change greatly in other districts.
You also have to know that they will have to pay for goods and other items when travelling. Maybe they'll want a weapon or information. So what blood good will 11 POINTS do for them?
This is blatant Favoritism!!!
Some people found that they've been only given 5 credited points, while others found they were given 7,10, 15, 20, 30, 50 and even 100 points.
But those who were considered special and their groups, had no less than 190 credited points allocated to them EACH.
Someone nearby gasped loudly when hearing that Victoria got 300 credited points.
Not fair! Not fair!!!
With those points, won't they end up living like Kings and Queens on their missions?
Levon took all this in while watching… And the more he looked, the more his blood boiled with excitement.
Tell me, why shouldn't he fall in love with this place?
Power!!
Division… The order sure knew how to make those in Power feel special.
Fufufufufufu~
Levon was in a good mood.
The mission Floriana had taken… he had looked at it before it vanished.
"A mission to Tarantula Island… Mission rewards, 2000 Mission points, and 300 general points."
No doubt it was one of the highest rewards out there, and would definitely spell out more danger for Florianna's group, compared to taking on other missions. But Levon had no doubt Florianna's team would be just fine… after all, in the end, this was still a 000-code rank mission.
Having watched enough, Levon headed for the door with his gang.
"Let's go…"
It's time to face their own strange predicament, rather than thinking about others.
