Chapter 98: SHE IS EVIL!!!! EVIL I TELL YOU!!!!
“As far as I can tell, there isn’t anything wrong with the contracts.” Turns out that trying to get the opinion from multiple people with this kind of thing wasn’t that uncommon. They got sent back to the first one when the fifth one noticed what they were doing.
“So, nothing out of the ordinary? No hidden requirement?” Rossie asked the lawyer.
“Not that I can tell... Miss…?” They had, however, decided not to tell him the true last name of Rossie.
“Starbright. I will marry into Elizabeth’s family, so I am getting used to it.” Rossie smiled demurely at the man who only raised an eyebrow and didn’t elaborate.
He was professional if anything, even if he didn’t seem to want to look further into it, he did mumble about Magical Girl’s making problems for his life. So perhaps he was used to Magical Girl shenanigans?
Elizabeth wanted to ask, but decided against it. Instead, she asked relevant things, like “So my house is mine again? No one can take it from me?” Yes, like that.
“Yes, I am not sure how or what your parents did with the house. It isn’t uncommon for magical families to ward their houses, but usually, the spell breakers deal with it, if they didn’t… Chances are your parents paid for your inheritance to be taken care of.” The lawyer, mister Engine said. “I can’t find anything on them, so they may have worked for the [Nine Stars]’s previous iteration. That or someone high up wanted to get extra cash and didn’t report the wards. Probably the latter, if your parents worked with the [Nine Stars] you wouldn’t have spent your childhood in the orphanage system.”
…. right.
“Thank you, Mister Engine, how much will this consultation be?” Rossie smiled while getting her purse ready.
“Nothing, I didn’t do much besides checking the information. Besides I assume you both girls have spent a good amount of money while making sure the paperwork was safe, my colleagues must have charged you quite a bit.” The Lawyer said while shaking his head, “I understand why you did it, since things like this are important. But next time limit it to two or three.”
“We will take it into consideration, and sorry for the deception,” Rossie said while smiling back at him.
“About your last name? I know my fame precedes me, but I do take cases from high born too. I just hate those that make it to their spot by unjust means.” The lawyer said back at Rossie, “I assume your last name will not be Starbright?”
“Oh no, it will be, next year I will be officially Rossaline Starbright.” Rossie smiled at him while taking Elizabeth’s hand, “But for now sadly I am Rossaline Singh.”
“...The adopted daughter of the Singh huh? So that is why you wanted to make sure?” The lawyer said while thinking back at the contract he had just read. “Well, nothing is wrong with it. But…I had heard that you were supposed to be less….”
“Cute? Lovely? Adorable?” Elizabeth chimed in, ready to defend the honor of her girlfriend.
“Friendly.” The lawyer said, “At least that is the common understanding, that the Singhs adopted a mentally unstable girl as a daughter when trying to replace their lost daughter.”
Oh right, Rossie had that kind of backstory.
“That is accurate to some degree, I don’t mind accepting it. I was more mentally unstable before.” Rossie said with a smile, “At least till I met Elizabeth, now I can confidently say that I am getting better.”
How could anyone say that Rossie was unstable! She was very much stable….in her own way at least.
“Well, if you ever need a lawyer, you know where my office is. I do deal with all kinds of cases. All I ask is for honesty, if you commit a crime then at least have a good excuse… Not that you both will ever need my help. The Magical kind rarely needs it.” The lawyer said while offering them his card.
“We will take it into consideration,” Rossie said pocketing the card and sending it towards their shared [Garage]. “Pleasure doing work with you Mister Engine.”
“The pleasure was all mine Missus Starbright.” The lawyer winked at Rossie, “And Missus Starbright.”
Now he was just making fun of them! She still liked the idea though. But then what would be Rena? Would they be three Missus Starbirght? That would get confusing soon.
“Let’s go Eli-Eli. Rena must be getting tired of waiting for us.” Rossie said standing, they had finished their work here after all. “And we need to get ready for the travel back.”
Traveling back to the MPI? This early?
“Have fun traveling back…or not, I assume you Magical type will use the teleportation station, either way. Have a safe travel,” The Lawyer said his farewell and sent both girls out.
After they left the office Elizabeth noticed most of those around seemed to have a low amount of Mana, mostly they seemed to be the civilian type. And interestingly enough Rena was standing at the side, they had left her in a seat at the back, but their seating was now being used by an older lady with a pair of kids sitting with them.
“They needed the seats,” Rena said pointing to the elderly lady.
“It’s fine Rena, we are leaving anyway,” Rossie's said looking at the old woman trying to take care of the kids, they seemed to be ill. “Do you want me to calm them? Or to [Heal] them?”
The elderly woman seemed surprised at the question, “...Can you heal them? Really? I went to several doctors, and they said this would be too expensive to fix….”
Rossie eyed the kids and silently cast a diagnosis spell, “They have severe malnutrition and some badly fixed problems. They also are getting resistance to most common antibiotics. I can fix most of those problems, but if you are here….” Rossie said turning to look around. Elizabeth did as well and noticed at least a third of those here seemed to have some degree of wound, “You want to sue someone because of their wounds, right? If I fix them, you may not have evidence to get them the justice you wish.”
The old woman just shook her head, “I care more about them than money, if you can indeed Heal them that is all I want. I only came here because I was running out of money, and their Mother ran away leaving them with me. If they can be healthy again that is all I need.”
“So long you are sure…” Rossie said raising her right hand, mana flooding from her [Soulscape], as always, the mana shone in golden light with pink hues, “Anyone that doesn’t want their wounds or problems healed, move away from the magic circle that will manifest under your feet.”
The what now?
As soon as those words rang out a magical circle manifested under the feet of everyone in the place, some did move away from the circles, some stayed put… And others walked to the spot where someone had left the magical circle.
Rossie didn’t look at those who moved away, nor she was bothered by those who walked into one of the magical circles, if she hadn’t cast one under them…they probably were healthy.
“You have five seconds to move away, if you can’t move away just say [Stop] and the magic will fade away.” Rossie closed her eyes and focused, no one said anything, as if they feared that they would make Rossie fail in her cast. “[Area]+[Heal]+[Blessing]+[Divine]+[Sacred]= [Blessings from the Goddess]”
The spell was a work of art, as one everyone under a magic circle shone with azure light as their wounds got healed, diseases disappeared, and eyes were able to see again. Everyone cheered in celebrations and some even cried when wounds that would make them unable to work got treated.
“That is wonderful and all, but those that got healed please don’t leave. You can still file a demand even if you are healed thanks to the blessings from an unknown girl that you can’t quite describe.” The lawyer said as he spoke from the door, as if making sure his words would be heard. “As for you two…. Thank you, I have contacts with some clinics that give discounts from time to time, but…half of those here would never be able to be healed as this… If you ever need anything you come to me. Free of charge.”
Elizabeth smiled and turned to look at Rossie whose face was confused, as if she hadn’t expected this level of response.
“You make me the proudest girlfriend ever Rossie,” Elizabeth said while pulling the pink-haired girl into a kiss, the other girl was still confused, as shown by the fact that she didn’t cling, and her hand didn’t move to explore the blonde's body. “Now let’s go, we need to leave before someone makes a fuss about healing people outside a clinic!”
And that was something that she couldn’t quite understand, but she had found recently while searching on the possible affinities she could get in the future thanks to her [Devour] skill. It seemed that [Healing] people for the sake of [Healing] was frowned upon. Since the [Skill] worked half using the understanding of the user and the other half by using some kind of [Blueprint] lodged in the [Soul]. If someone with poor understanding but a great amount of mana healed, they could remove artificial parts of the body.
Half the time that meant that prothesis would be removed or moved, creating new problems. But if someone had a peacemaker? Yeah, you could kill them. So, they wanted most [Healing] done in a clinic. Unless it was a crisis and you were working as a [Magical Girl], you couldn’t get away with [Healing] like this.
That was why the lawyer was making such a statement, “Thank you!” So, Elizabeth thanked the man, and while grabbing Rena and Rossie who was still somewhat confused “[Shadow Step]!” Elizabeth teleported them all away.
She really liked this skill, why hadn’t she used it as much pre-advent? Oh right, she had the bimbo thing going…Whoever made her like that could go and rot in hell!
Oh wait, he was already there, right? [Ethan] should be burning in one of the four planes of hell…Or maybe he got sent into one of those void planes? Her Mother had tried to explain to her how they worked, but to be honest, all that Elizabeth got from that conversation was that the void planes were weird and moved all around.
Either way, Elizabeth teleported them back to the Singh Manor in a rush, she didn’t feel it, but Aura had told her that the place was warded against teleport. Not that it worked against Aura…or Elizabeth.
“Eli-Eli? What was the deal with that? People usually only give a token thanks. But that was more than usual.” Rossie asked her, she looked so cute when she didn’t get something!
It made Elizabeth even more proud, half of it was because she wasn’t the dumb one on this occasion!
“You mostly healed people at the clinic, right? Or when rich people paid you.” Elizabeth said more as a statement than a question.
“Yes, the rich people usually did bank transfers and only saw me for the spell and maybe to try and scout me.” Rossie nodded at her, “And at the clinic, they usually either thanked me or gave me a nod.”
“You see, in both cases, you were expected to [Heal], so it wasn’t that special. Even if you may have [Healed] more than they would get in other places, they don’t know how lucky they were.” Elizabeth said to her girlfriend, the pink-haired girl still seemed confused, “Now these people you just healed? They know how much their problems are worth. They knew that unless a miracle came from the heavens, they would have to deal with those illnesses, maybe die because of them in the worst case.”
“The grandmother was going to use all the money she got from the lawsuit to make sure their grandchildren could sleep without crying, then she was planning to sell her house and move all her money into getting at least them a happy life.” Rena said at the side, “The kids suffered from a weird mana illness occasioned by high exposure to mana. Some rich kid wanted to make mana soldiers and exposed kids to high doses of mana in an attempt to awaken a high-rarity job. It didn’t work.”
“But they will now have a chance at life, what was a cursed and hopeless life now can be a happy life!” Elizabeth said while turning to the pink-haired girl, “All because you healed them! You didn’t have to, you didn’t need to. You would get nothing from it, and yet you did it!”
Elizabeth couldn’t help but smile, “You did it because you wanted, not because I asked, not because they asked. Not because you would get anything.” And wasn’t that wonderful? Her Rossie healed someone that wasn’t her. She healed someone who didn’t have anything to do with her, not because it would make Elizabeth sad, not because it would make Elizabeth worry. But because she, Rossie could and wanted! “You yourself saw someone in pain and asked. Do you want me to heal you? You didn’t say that you would need money, you didn’t ask for payment. You only healed them because you wanted to! Because you thought it was right!”
“Wasn’t it the right thing to do?” Rossie asked while looking at her hands, “I… I just thought it was the right thing to do.”
“And it was!” Elizabeth cheered at the pink-haired girl, “So long you are happy with the result, so long you want to do it, it is right. So, tell me, my lovely and adorable Rossie…Are you happy because they thanked you?”
“...yes.” Rossie said in a small voice, “Do you think they will be happy?”
“They will be, they all had a chance to move away from your magic, they had the chance to refuse your magic.” Elizabeth said while nodding, “And if they complain….”
They would not get the chance to make a complaint to Rossie, “Make sure no one in that firm makes trouble for us.” Elizabeth sent the command to one of her Assassins.
“[It will be done Mistress, Lady Rossaline’s happiness shall not be tainted.]” The shadow assassin answered back.
“Okay, I like this,” Rossie said while turning to look at her, her eyes held a little more emotion than usual. Or perhaps it was because unlike usual where they only held passion and lust, this time they held other emotions… Hope.
“Let’s see. Aura!” Elizabeth smiled at her girlfriend but still summoned another girl.
“Yes, Mistress?” And the purple-haired girl teleported in front of her, “What can I do for you?”
Was she flexing since she too could teleport within the wards of the Singh? Probably, not that Elizabeth minded it. “Are Albert and Lizbeth available?” This was mostly a question for the sake of asking of course. Both Rossie Papa and Rossie Mama had said that they would be available to them at all times.
“Yes, Lord Albert has an empty schedule, he is speaking with those who are backing him up on his run for president. But nothing important is being talked about.” Aura said while making a holoprojection of the discussion. She could see the man moving and acting different from how she knew him. Instead of the man who made stupid jokes and tried to look silly, this was a man who could wield power, even if said power was mostly political. The kind her Papa disregarded with ease.
“And Lizbeth Singh?” Elizabeth asked, if she could, she would make the woman change her name, it was awkward. It was too similar to her own name.
“Lady Galaxidae is in her room, as far as we can tell she is communing with some kind of skill that seems to look inwardly. We haven’t been able to pierce the defenses in her [Soulscape]. But since she hasn’t made any attempts to cause problems, we are leaving her alone.” Aura answered, this time the projection turned into the woman in her bedroom sitting in a chair with her eyes closed.
…Perhaps she could ask Aura about her ideas about filming Rossie and Rena? No, Aura had her own mind, she couldn’t or wouldn’t let anyone else enjoy the sight of her girlfriend making it out with her girlfriend.
“Mistress? Why am I feeling killing intent?” The purple-haired girl asked, “Did Lady Galaxidae do something?”
Oh right, she had asked about that. “No, sorry, was thinking about something else.” Elizabeth said taking a deep breath to re-focus herself, “Can you send them a message that I want to speak with them as soon as possible?”
Instead, Elizabeth summoned a couple of pieces of paper where she wrote using a channeled application of fire mana as a way to work it like a laser printer, it made her notes more aesthetically pleasing, as if she had printed it in one of those fancy printers.
It was simple enough, it read “Good Afternoon, I am sending you this letter as a way to set up a meeting at your convenience to speak about our arrangement for the plots of land you have sent my way. To discuss payment and setting up a deal that benefits all parties involved. Signed Elizabeth Starbright.” Easy and simple.
“It will be done,” Aura answered taking the two pieces of paper and putting them in a letter with the emblem of her royal knights, a dragon maw with a couple of stars orbiting around it. This time it had a heart-shaped comet and a sword-shaped comet.
After sealing the envelopes Aura disappeared in the light of teleportation, closing her eyes to follow Aura’s shadows she found the maid standing outside Albert Singh's office. She stood there for a few seconds before being let in, where she gave the letter to the man and teleported away.
In front of everyone.
She teleported next into the room of Rossie’s mama, the woman in question didn’t seem to be too worried about that and Aura’s stay there took even less time, as the woman started moving as soon as she read the letter.
“It has been done, Mistress. Master Albert said that he would finish his meeting within the hour.” Aura said as she materialized in front of her again. “As for Lady Galaxidae, she will be waiting for Master Singh in the main meeting room. You are welcome to wait with her should you wish.”
“Do I have to?” Elizabeth asked, she…didn’t quite like being with Rossie Mama, she wasn’t sure if her new Layered defense could live up against the Galaxidae’s skill.
“If you don’t want to, then no. Lady Galaxidae will understand if you wish to maintain a reasonable distance, she said as much.” Aura said afterward.
Elizabeth was thinking about that, but looking at the watch she noticed an important fact. “Aura…Within the hour mean that he will finish in an hour? Or that he will finish before this hour ends?” Elizabeth hoped it was the first one.
“He will finish before this hour ends, why?” Aura asked as she turned to look at her, “Should we hurry it up? We have some Minions waiting there if you wish for us to chase away the people he is speaking with.”
“...That means he will finish the meeting that he has been in for…” Elizabeth said unsure of how long he had been in that meeting.
“Three hours and 47 minutes.” Aura helpfully said.
“That, he will finish that in thirteen minutes?” Elizabeth said, she was dirty and covered in sweat, was she supposed to get presentable in less than thirteen minutes?!?
“Indeed, my understanding was that this could be important. So, I asked them to hurry it up. You don’t have to worry about leaving them waiting, Master Singh and Lady Galaxidae said they would wait for you.” Aura said turning to Elizabeth, who was busy running towards the bathroom.
“NO TIME TO WAIT, WE ARE TAKING A COMMUNAL BATH!” Elizabeth said while using her shadows turned into tentacles to strip herself and her girlfriends “CALL ME WHEN WE HAVE LESS THAN FIVE MINUTES! WE ARE GETTING THERE IN TIME EVEN IF I HAVE TO MAKE THE STUPID SHIFT SKILL CREATE A NEW FORM!”
Elizabeth would love to say that she would enjoy scrubbing each centimeter of her girlfriends in a steamy shower… But to be honest she was too frantic in an effort to get presentable that she didn’t remember much of how that communal bath had gone.
What she knew was that…she hadn’t imagined her first time in the shower with both her girlfriends would be like this. She wanted to enjoy her bath time dang it!
She would make sure Aura got what was coming for her… Imagine having to rush a sacred time such as taking a bath with both her girlfriends like this!
That girl was evil!
EVIL!!!!!
