Chapter 57: Rossaline - Training montage? Why should I do that?
For the story that Elizabeth wanted, she needed to rewind time a little. Rossaline didn't...really want to relive it, but Elizabeth was curious and she knew how the girl was when she couldn't deal with her curiosity.
Not that the girl was at fault, Rossaline knew that Elizabeth wanted to distract them, it wasn't that good of a plan, since her method to distract them would get them to relive part of what had caused the issue.
Or perhaps Elizabeth wanted to find out what the issue had been?
Sometimes Rossaline didn't know for sure if Elizabeth was truly as dumb as she acted, sometimes one could see the true genius act, and sometimes, you couldn't help but see the dumbest human to ever walk Zaanam.
Either way, Elizabeth had asked, and while Rena didn't seem likely to have an issue recounting their experience, Rossaline had to step forward, she was, after all. The one who was the most responsible of the three.
The horror.
-------------------------------------
"See you after the training montage ends Rossie," Elizabeth waved at Rossaline as she walked away with the blue haired woman who had came from nowhere to input herself into their love nest.
"We will come to visit you Eli," Rena said from the side waving at Elizabeth.
The blonde girl had left them a teleportation circle tied to the training area she had gone to.
Even if the blue haired and annoying woman had wanted to refuse, no one could stop Elizabeth from doing whatever she wanted.
Rossaline knew that the best, instead she had accepted the fact that the girl would get away with whatever she wanted and merely smirked when the teleportation circle came to life.
She personally tested and verified the integrity after Elizabeth and the blue woman left.
"Okay, Ren-Ren was it?" Amelia said turning to Rena, the other blonde woman that they had came to rescue.
She gazed up and down Rena, then turned her attention towards Rossaline.
"And Rossie..." The woman said, her eyes barely showing a pale golden shine, Rossaline didn't like that.
Either it was because she hadn't that good of a control over her mana, and in turn couldn't hide it, or she had that good control over her mana, and in turn. Was letting Rossaline know that she had used some skill that they couldn't percieve.
"Yes." Rena answered, "You are Amelia, [The Tinkerer]. How are you going to help me? You don't look like a physical user."
Fair words from Rena, she was after all, the one who would be affected the most should she get a insufficient teacher.
"I am [The Tinkerer]; before the system came to standardize everything into fancy skills that anyone could get, I was the one that managed to create a metric to standardize what we used to call powered." Amelia answered with a shrug, her mana circling across her body. "It was my personal theory that magic and skills were the same, both powers that came from the same source."
And right there in front of their eyes, the woman's mana pathway shifted. A second, they were those of someone like Rena who wielded mana in a way to fuel skills; the next, they looked like a classical Magic user.
"So you could say I know a few nice tricks." Then, as if it was the most obvious thing, her mana presence shifted once more to that of a skilled user, from a magic caster to a skilled user again.
"....A sword user?" Rena said.
Sword? Rossaline looked once more to the woman and saw nothing that implied she was or had sword skills.
"And now?" The blonde woman asked smirking.
".... Spear....Bow....gun....fist......saber?" Rena said one after the other. "...I stand corrected. You....are a good master, more so since my fighting style will need that kind of skills."
It did?
Rossaline hadn't checked too much on the way Rena fought, as far as she was aware she was a weapon master, one who fought using swords. Wasn't her title Sword Saint?
"So I see, as far as your mana pathways tell me yo seem to be broadening from sword to bladed weapons?" The blonde woman said nodding, "Unlike this one."
"What about me?" Rossaline asked confused, her mana should not...reveal anything. She wasn't actively using any of the...more dangerous skills or anything.
"Not my problem, it is Lily's problem." The blonde woman said shrugging, "For now let's go Ren-Ren, before Lily needs a translator."
The blonde woman said extending her hand towards Rena.
"...will we be able to visit Rossie and Eli?" Rena asked turning to look at Rossaline.
Rossaline could see the longing and desperation, she didn't want to be separated either. Even if for completely different reasons.
"Yeah why not, I don't isolate my pupils, if anything I will need free time to do my own." The blonde woman said nodding and offering a hand, "I'll even tell you it from now, but we aren't traveling far like your girlfriend, we are keeping it local...Or local enough for you girls anyway..."
The blonde woman said as her mana shifted into...a pulse type of frequency.
And as soon as Rena took the hand offered both dissapeared, Rossaline couldn't percieve how that had happened or where had she teleported away.
A faint sense of panic started rising in her chest, but a pulse of mana from the ring that she shared with Rena calmed her down.

".....show.....off..." And the voice of the albino girl that had been left with her distracted her enough about her panic to think it through.
Leaving Rossaline alone with Lily, [The Sniper].
"So...?" Rossaline asked, being left alone with the infuriatingly slow speaking woman.
"....This.....will.....be.........counter.....productive....." The woman spoke one infuriatingly slow word at the time, then raising her hand she snapped her fingers, "Test, test....is this working?"
"Yes, I can see the words." Rossaline answered confused, the words manifesting in the air, the albino girl could write this fast using her mana, and yet she had never used it to communicate?
"Good, then let's start this the easy way. Attack me with the most powerful spell you can cast." The albino woman said as she stood, puffing out her chest and hitting it with her hand.
It was...pitiful, and that was something to say, considering that Rossaline also didn't have as many assets there, but then again, compared to Elizabeth and Rena, no one was well endowed.
"Are you sure?" Rossaline asked as she started moving the mana within her mana channels. After Elizabeth remade their bodies, it was easier to manipulate the mana in their mana channels, so Rossaline didn't have any issue or problems.
"Of course, you don't need to contain yours-" Lily started saying once more hitting her chest.
Not that Rossaline was listening, she had merely asked to prepare the first spell, it was one of her faster activation and the one with the most damage that could be done in the shortest amount of time.
"[Soul Severance]" Rossaline intoned the Idea, and felt the spell blossom into reality, a whisper of power and a promise of Death. It was a spell made from her own expertise into the field of Souls empowered by the divinity that was being born within Elizabeth.
"-self....Soul Magic? Now this is was expected." Lily said capturing the spell into some weird sphere made out of crystal, purple thin crystal.
Within it you could see what looked closer to a [Wraith], the true nature of the spell. It was a hideous spell that would leave the body of whoever took it empty and devoid of their Soul.
The body would be empty and open to anyone who wanted to do something with it, the original spell had been devised by a terrible monster disguised in the guise of a human.
It was one of the spells that Rossaline found stored within the [Gem of Lust], a reminder of what her past life had done.
Probably something that had been made to fulfill the enjoyment of the bug when Rossaline was victim of his manipulation, not that Rossaline would defend her previous Sins, there was a reason why she had been so tormented by Lust. She herself also enjoyed these type of power at her fingerprints.
"...Nasty spell, but powerful. Even if not in the strict sense of the word, this seems like a spell more suited for assassinations...Or pseudo reincarnation." Lily said, bringing the true use of the spell, it was indeed designed to help with pseudo reincarnation, it was how Rossaline had made some money after Advent even.
Reincarnating the rich in younger bodies, most of the time in the bodies of cute girls, Rossaline had made sure that those had been empty bodies, mostly the bodies of those that had some type of brain damage that ensured no consciousness was there.
She was not a monster...or not that type of monster.
She, however, made sure all those she reincarnated had no power left, no riches or skills. She was sure that their future was not what they expected, but that was not her problem at that point.
"Now, do it again, this time prepare properly, we are Mages." Lily said as Rossaline stopped her mana channel from funneling mana.
She took a second and kickstarted the foundry set within her Core, igniting the Divine Prana she had available, both that gifted from Elizabeth's parents, to the one she had access from her own Faith in Elizabeth's imminent ascend to godhood.
So as her eyes remained closed, Rossaline prayed. Feeling the exhilarating feeling of the essence of Elizabeth flooding her being.
"[Divine] + [Void] + [Soul] + [Demonic] + [Amp] + [Highest] + [Sacred] + [Smite] + [Judgement]" Rossaline intoned node by node, she built the most complex mandala she was able to create and started tying the spells one by one, placing them at their designated spot, "[Merge] and fuse, combine and create...and bring forth...[Divine Wrathful Judgement]"
And so, while being a channel of the spell, Rossaline felt the embrace from Elizabeth, the nod from Elizabeth's Mother and the amusement coming from her Elizabeth's Father. The spell bloomed around her and transformed into a black spear, one that looked both Divine and yet Demonic.
A contradiction in itself, but that was how Elizabeth rolled, Rossaline knew that the best since she had seen her 24/7 the last few years. The girl, soon a full-grown woman, was a contradiction in itself, smart yet dumb.
A genius yet a bimbo. A human yet a Goddess in the flesh.
Someone who wanted (Allegedly) to laze around, and yet, she was the most hardworking person she had ever seen. Someone who wanted people around her, but also didn't want to force people to stay around her.
This Spear made out of inky black Darkness was probably the best example of who Elizabeth Starbright was.
"And you, will be striken down, I will prove to Elizabeth that I require not this [Training Montage] and return to her side." Rossaline not only said, but also pledged it to herself, she would strike this woman down.
They didn't need their help, not from Lily, not from Amelia, and certainly not from Jenna or [The Traveler].
They didn't need anyone; they could do it all by themselves, like they had done so far; Elizabeth would show the way, and they would struggle? Yes, but so what.
That was life; one needed to struggle to move forward, and Rossaline didn't mind that. She didn't mind even if they got hurt, for that would bring reason to her being there; she was, after all. The Saintess of Healing.
Even if she didn't wield that title, or did much healing.
"...That is a better spell, and I can see you tapping into the true nature of who you are even." The albino woman said nodding, "But you are missing a primordial point."
The woman said extending the hand forward and touching the tip of the Spear with her index finger.
Rossaline smirked, she herself was putting herself at risk- "What?" Or so she had expected because the moment the finger touched the Spear, it broke into thousands of pieces.
The spell got destabilized, and it broke at the seams. Rossaline tried to keep the mana contained, but the woman's mana got into the spell matrix and broke the point where a node joined to create the Spear.
"Stop!" Rossaline screamed as her mana fought and trashed; she wanted to keep the spell in one piece; it was a spell made out of Elizabeth's Prana, and the girl had barely started generating it.
And this was the Prana made out from Rossaline's faith in her girlfriend, it was important, it was sacred...
And...It was gone.
"...please...." Rossaline fell to her knees as she felt tears fall across her face as the last motes of Prana started to float away.
"Why do you think I was able to do that?" The albino woman said.
Rossaline knew, of course, she knew, unlike Elizabeth, Rossaline didn't have a humongous amount of mana to ensure the stability of the spell. She needed to use the right amount and balance everything; she couldn't bruteforce the spell. She couldn't keep the spell stable by keeping a torrent of mana coursing through the gaps.
"You sneaked your mana into the spell matrix, broke the balance, and then cut the connection; without a connection between the spell nodes, the spell broke." Rossaline answered, glaring at the albino woman.
"And why was I able to do so effortlessly?" The woman asked next.
"....Because you have better mana manipulation than me? Because you are older? Because you knew what spell nodes I was using?" Rossaline said each word one after the other.
"Part of it is that yes, I am better at mana manipulation indeed, I was able to rise to the [S-tier] after all, part of it is indeed my knowledge about spells too, I am a [Sorceress] after all..." The Albino woman said smiling smugly at Rossaline, "But even without this, if I had the same knowledge or even less than you, if my mana was weaker, I would been able to do this."
"...How is that possible?" Rossaline asked confused; that shouldn't be possible. Only a genius like Elizabeth would be able to overpower someone stronger than them. "How can someone weaker overpower a spell from someone stronger?"
"Don't get me wrong, doing this to someone stronger than you is impossible, spell-wise. But against you? Anyone weaker than you can do this, if they are smart about it." Lily said shrugging, "You made a very obvious mistake, a rookie mistake that no one else would do, you shouldn't be making these mistakes, considering your knowledge, level and power."
"What do you mean? My spell was perfect, each spell node was done perfectly, the fusion was perfect, the mana concentration and mana channels were perfect." Rossaline said cleaning her tears and standing as she glared at the woman, reproducing the spell nodes and showing her how she was fusing them again, she was not using Prana this time, since this was an example, but the spell bloomed into existence again. "You are telling me this is flawed?!?!?!?!"
"Yes," Lily said smirking and pointing at the shadowy Spear, it no longer shone in golden light as it missed Prana, but it was still a dangerous thing, and with a flick of her finger, Rossaline saw Lily throw a small blob of mana, it stroke into one of the points of contact between the spell nodes and the thing burst apart once more, "See? I used even less mana than before, and it broke again, do you know why?"
"...You are using a specialty spell?" Rossaline said as she felt her mood sour, she was starting to see the issue.
"Wrong, your spellcasting is the issue, why the hell are you using such borked spellcasting? There is a reason why no one uses spell nodes to build spells on the go. The advantage of this spellcasting style is that it is pointless after a certain point. At the D and E tiers it is indeed more powerful. But after the C tier, when people can react fast enough...You are telling me what component is in your spell, you are showing me how you fuse them. So unless you can overpower your enemy mana, you are leaving the door open for them to break your house apart." Lily pointed out.
Rossaline...of course knew this, that any competent mage could do that...A few had even tried to do that, and that was why Rossaline had a few pre-set spells at the ready for those situations. Case in point, her previous [Soul Severance] spell.
"....So what..." Rossaline growled, "This is how Elizabeth fights!"
"And you are not Elizabeth, you are no Weaver of spells. You are [The Saintess of Healing], as such, you should fight as one...And I will make sure you learn this..." Lily said as she snapped her fingers, and soon Rossaline and Lily found themselves in a temple.
A forgotten one, almost destroyed, but a temple nonetheless.
"Welcome to the Temple of a Forgotten Dragon cult. We raided it years ago, when [The American Crusader] was still a thing, it is forgotten and sealed away, but it should do. We will make you into a dragon cleric, then work our way up. That should be fine with you, right?" The albino woman wrote in the air smirking at Rossaline.
"...Fine." Rossaline couldn't help but say, she...was already serving a Dragoness, so becoming a cleric...and offering this church to Elizabeth wouldn't be that bad.
