Chapter 52: The Wedding Venue is what?!?!?
"Just asking to make sure, but you are aware of who I am, right?" Jenna had asked after staring at Elizabeth for a few extra seconds more than Elizabeth was comfortable with.
"...My childhood friend?" Elizabeth answered, "Or do you think there is anyone else who could deliver me to the bride?"
"You are also the bride," Jenna pointed out, "But that isn't the point I want to make. You are asking me if a dress would take from the highlight of your girlfriend."
"Girlfriends," Elizabeth corrected the blue haired woman. "This is important for them too, they need happy memories."
"yours are important too, but again. Not my point." Jenna said, sighing, "You are asking one of the most infamous members of the [Twelve] to deliver you. If something was going to take from the spotlight, it would be my presence or that of your guests."
"My guests?" Elizabeth said confused, "What of them? I haven't made a list yet..."
"I assume your girlfriend's parents are one?" Jenna said, sighing yet again, "Rossaline is the daughter of one of the most politically active mayors since your Father left them to their devices."
He was? How was...Oh, right, Elizabeth left them a few shadow dragons...Probably should have set up some restrictions...
"Her Mother is one of the exiled Galaxidae, worse than that. She is someone who has risen to the power even while being exiled." Jenna said shaking her head, "And if that wasn't enough, who are you inviting?"
"...I mean them...probably Agatha..." Elizabeth said, thinking about who to invite.
"The new Principal of one of the few surviving schools for the powerful to train and learn, and one that holds the blessing of our new gods." Jenna said smirking at Elizabeth, "Really?"
"...She is cool...Besides, we need to apologize for the teleport she got the other time..." Elizabeth shrugged as she went through the options, "I guess that we could send one to Gran-Gran...And any of Papa's friends? You can help us with those, right?"
"Any friends of your father are probably a world mover," Jenna said shaking her head, "If we include your Mother's friends, that would mean, at the very least, her older apprentices, that is to say..."
"The council of Magical Girls?" Elizabeth asked, she knew that her Mother had a few apprentices from time to time, but anyone th at she took seriously? Very few, and among those, the most she cared for where the first ones, that is to say, those that stood at her side while she landed in Zaanam.
Those she raised from the absolute bottom, those she cared the most. The original magical girls that stood with her, the council of magical girls.
"Yes." Jenna said nodding, "Most of those high on your list probably remember your parents, and will regain any memory they lost about you the second I bridge the connection between them and you. Are you sure?"
"Yes," Elizabeth said nodding, "We need to get this out of the way, which is why I want to set up the wedding after dealing with [The Prophet], no matter how much I want to do it first...I need to make sure they don't do anything stupid."
"And if they do?" Jenna asked, already knowing the answer, "Well...I am daddy's girl. I'll do what he taught me to do in these situations, and if that doesn't work...Well, Mother did give me some tips, too."
"...Your Father would punch the issue away, and your Mother would use a death laser." Jenna deadpanned at Elizabeth.
"...I mean, it works?" Elizabeth said, shrugging. Before, she didn't quite understand why her parents always defaulted to these types of solutions, but now? Now that she had the power to do the same...Or the experience of dealing with these self-entitled pricks?
She understood, she understood very well.
Echidna would ignore her till Elizabeth took one of her [Skills] from her, now? Now she would listen to what Elizabeth said, after feeling the fear of having something you want taken from you?
Yeah, that got her to understand the consequences of her own actions, and the older woman probably wouldn't get any funny ideas about Elizabeth again.
She was not a good Mother, and didn't even deserve the daughter she had, she could, however, keep Maximilian Windsor. That one Elizabeth did not want or need.
"Fine, but as I said. If something will take the spotlight, it will be your guestlist." Jenna said shaking her head and pulling a notepad, "Here is a quick list of anyone who could enter your list."
The girl wrote a long list, around 30 to 40 names long. "Each one of those will have at least one or two people coming with them, plus any guard retail they deem necessary since they are big movers."
That...would get annoying to manage.
"As for wedding venue...Do you want me to pick a reception hall or something? We could probably get one of those to provide if you want." Jenna said as Elizabeth read the list, there were...S-Tier Heroes and villains, a couple Arch Magical Girls and Arch Wizards, a couple Warlocks and some High Bishops (Plus a Pope and a Saintess) even!
This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it
"No." Elizabeth said shaking her head, "Any place they offer will probably have some kind of weird magic or skill laced on it, will it not?"
"Obviously," Jenna said nodding, "I could probably scrub some of the influence...or you could just spread your Domain over the place and take it for yourself, I doubt [The World] will mind it much if you return it later."
That was probably a good way to deal with it.
"Not necesary, I have a site in mind already." Elizabeth said, smiling, the previous idea blooming into her mind's eye again. "I just need a nice spot to set it."
"Set it?" Jenna asked confused, "...Are...are you using a skill to construct a place? It's a waste of mana...I would say, but you have those to spare, just let me get you an architect to check the blueprint first, we don't want accidents."
"Already built and has survived quite some time in one piece, I just need a place to deploy it." Elizabeth said shaking her head, "It has been an important part of me while growing up...Want to look?"
Elizabeth conjured a projection of the place.
A great cathedral made of what looked like white crystal, it was both imposing and impressive, a marvel of architecture that Elizabeth was half sure was only made possible in an environment rich in mana. For the very crystal structure was that. Solidified mana.
Now that Elizabeth was attuned to six of the seven cardinal manas, she could see it.
The Sin Mana coursed through the exterior, mixing and flowing, complementing each other and neutralizing whatever outburst wanted to run rampant.
"...That....Is not a normal building, is it?" Jenna asked as she eyed the building with distrust. Did she have some trauma about white crystal cathedrals? "What is it? Where did you get it?"
"This was my Soulscape, or what I thought it was anyway...It was a layer atop my actual Soulscape, as my soul settled into my body. It was what kept me together and in one piece for almost fifteen years." Elizabeth said, looking at the great cathedral. The parts that had been the library missing.
Wonder what that was about?
Elizabeth knew the library part was the part that Alexa used to live in, and those linked to the tree house...or whatever that was anyway, Elizabeth didn't spend that much time there either way.
"...Excuse me what?" Jenna said turning to Elizabeth, "You...had two Soulscapes?"
"No, I had one." Elizabeth said shaking her head, "My original Soulscape, what is now Terra Nexus, is what was below this. My original Soulscape was too big and powerful for me to perceive till I was ready, so they made this layer and put it atop the actual thing."
A masterful creation of a Soulscape if Elizabeth was to say, not that she liked who made it, but recognition where it was due was something Elizabeth didn't mind.
Alexanders was still an asshole tho.
"So you see, when [Advent] happened, my original Soulscape was ruptured and cut in two as both Mother and Alexanders saved me from Ethan...and in turn doomed Chloe." Elizabeth said sighing, "I thought I had lost it, but when we moved Terra Nexus to real space, I was able to find it yet again...There in one of the poles of the planet, a cathedral made out of crystalized life blood of the former Terra Invicta..."
A Cathedral made of the sacred mana concentrated in the blood of the former [Dragon of Calamity] the last living dragon and final god of Terra Invicta.
"I think it's a fitting place to marry, what do you think?" Elizabeth said, turning to Jenna, "...I can...probably set something up...We will need to raise an island in the middle of the ocean or something first, but nothing [The Beast Master] can't deal with. He will probably want to give you a gift when he remembers whose daughter you are."
"The [Beast Master] will?" Elizabeth asked confused, "Why? As far as Papa said, he was about average?"
"Exactly, there isn't many people that are [Average] to your parents." Jenna said nodding, "Well...I will need to set up a few calls, anything else you want to ask me before leaving?"
Elizabeth did have a few things to ask.
"Anything I can answer, do take into consideration that while I have the knowledge of hundreds of thousands of versions of myself. I have been this age for about three years top." Jenna said before Elizabeth could ask anything.
"...Who do we use as flower girls?" Elizabeth asked.
"...A minion probably, you...don't have any family left within Zaanam do you?" Jenna said sighing, "I am kind of an orphan too...And Rossaline's sister is like a year tops...probably less."
"Rena...is also an orphan as far as I know," Elizabeth said, sighing afterward, "Well, a minion it will be, probably one of the Valkyries if I know those...It would need to be one of them, Aura, Sana, Iroha or Mira...And I don't trust a single one of them...Well, probably Iroha would do good, but not the others."
Two tricksters, a...whatever the hell Mira was supposed to be. The sanest one was the one that dealt with death, and that was not the best thing to bring to a wedding.
A wedding was all about new vows and links, not about death.
"Okay, then I'm off to get your invitations...When is Arthur returning?" Jenna said looking around, as if that mere question was enough to get him to return.
Evidently, it was not.
"Well, please get out to whoever you think should be from my parent's side." Elizabeth said, nodding to Jenna, "Also, send me an updated version of the invitation, I can get you a teleport to the Cathedral if you want to?"
"... I'd rather see it on this side, no offense to your...planet, but I don't think it's sturdy enough for me quite yet." Jenna said shaking her head, "I'll call you when [The Beast Master] has set up the site. Can you get me a rough estimate of its dimensions?"
"Sure," Elizabeth said, looking inwardly...or outwardly? What direction was she looking when she attempted to check her Soulscape anyway?
A simple peek wasn't enough to show anything, all she could see was a burning flame, a black burning flame.
It took intent from Elizabeth to see Terra Nexus, she was still connected, so that wasn't an issue, but it was weird as hell.
"You know what," Elizabeth said, opening her eyes, "There are easier ways, Mordred."
Elizabeth commanded, and the black-haired girl materialized in front of Elizabeth the next second, "Yes, Mistress?" The girl said as she bowed to Elizabeth.
"Give Jenna any data she needs about the Cathedral." Elizabeth said, she didn't need to say anything else, Mordred was efficient like that.
"...Shall we start cleaning it then?" Mordred asked.
What?
Just yet?
"...Obviously, I'm going to Marry Rossie and Rena there." Elizabeth said, mildly annoyed at her wishes not being fulfilled before she said them, which, honestly. Was probably out of line, but who could blame Elizabeth?
Most if not all of the things she had wanted had been solved before she had to deal with them, this had been all her life till this point afterall.
"...It will be done posthaste." Mordred said, and Elizabeth felt a burst of shadow mana directed into Mordred's shadow.
It kind of opened a hole into space? Elizabeth couldn't quite follow the link, but she did notice there was a small Space Fox within the shadow and it seemed to help guide the mana.
Interesting, so her Shadows couldn't travel back to the Shadow Haven as easily as before? It was... worrying. It implied that there was a chance that someone could prevent her minions from returning home...
But...could they? Could they keep from her what was rightfully hers?
"Do you require assistance of some degree Lady...Jenna was it?" Mordred said turning to Jenna.
"...Just get me the dimensions of the cathedral as soon as you can. You can just stick one of those in my shadow for now, but if they get any funny ideas..." Jenna said as her eyes blazed in azure fire.
"We would never dream of that..." Mordred said, nodding to Jenna, "Besides, one has been inside your Shadow since you started spending time with Mistress, so a new one will not be necessary."
"Pfft...." Elizabeth couldn't help but laugh at that.
"...Right, well. I'll be seeing you later, Elizabeth." Jenna said as she turned to walk outside the room, "I'll send the invitation using one of your minions that seems to have been hiding inside my shadow."
"Thank you Jenna," Elizabeth said waving away the blue haired woman. "You can come out."
Elizabeth said as her smile died on her face, and she turned to glare to the side, "I have been feeling you pocking through the mana barrier; get on with it." Elizabeth said shooting her hand inside an invisible barrier and pulling out a man out from there.
"...Yeah...sorry about that, my skill is not what it used to be." Arthur said as he straightened out his jacket, the man seemed to have been through a rough spot, his clothes were all wrinkled and his hair was unkempt.
"Yeah, I honestly don't care." Elizabeth said shrugging, "Thanks to you Rossie and Rena spent months alone and sad."
"...It wasn't my mistake, the one that-" Arthur started speaking to defend his honor.
"It happened because I needed to rescue you, so make yourself useful." Elizabeth cut him short, "So, we already settled in that you will help us. But...if you aren't going to fight, then how can you actually help us? I doubt [The Prophet] is in a place that we can't access with Aura and Sana's help. And if they are somehow behind a time barrier, I doubt Mira would be unable to rip it open."
That was the thing, Elizabeth...wasn't sure why it was that she needed to have [The Traveler] being the one to do it.
So now it was time for the man to explain his usefulness...Or enter into the shit list of Elizabeth.
He was already in great danger because of his name and his insistence on saying that Elizabeth was a Saintsworths.
