Chapter 303: The Terrifying Gaze from the Otherworld, Conversation Between Wu Youqing and the Little Girl (4K)
After a straight flight, lasting less than ten minutes, Xue Jing swiftly arrived at the South District.
From afar, he noticed the vacant shocks in the unfinished building area ahead, where the air throughout the region was visibly trembling non-stop, and occasionally, some points or small areas would suddenly spread out like oceanic void ripples.
It was much more severe than any Boundary Shock he had seen before.
"It seems this time it's for real."
Xue Jing's gaze shifted as he landed within the White Crow Base.
"How's the situation?"
He looked toward Captain Void Blade, who was dressed in a tactical suit, her physique as lithe as a leopardess.
Void Blade shielded her eyes from the fierce winds produced by the Boundary Shock ahead, squinting slightly, and pointed to the screen of a device in front of her saying,
"During the time it took for you to get here, the pollution rate has climbed to nearly 50%."
Xue Jing glanced at the screen where a progress bar read [ER:48.76%].
That number was still climbing; in a few seconds, it had changed to [48.81%].
"The current situation is quite strange."
Void Blade slightly frowned and said,
"Generally, this phenomenon where two worlds slowly rub against each other but never overlap would result in the pressure building up between the worlds, eventually accumulating to a strength comparable to a 'collision,' suddenly erupting and forming a 60% pollution rate in a strong overlapping event."
"But now, even though the pollution rate is continuously rising, it shows a trend of slow increase, as if it's slowly releasing built-up pressure... This has no precedence."
Another staff member quickly reported,
"Captain, the pollution rate has exceeded 50%!"
No sooner had he spoken than the unfinished building area in front of him immediately underwent a transformation.
It was as if a painting was being scribbled on by a child with a pen, the whole area's landscape began to distort and change, one moment swelling and shrinking like a funhouse mirror, and the next, many indistinct shapes suddenly appearing and quickly disappearing.
Seeing this, Xue Jing asked, "What do I need to do?"
Void Blade's gaze turned serious, "Wait."
"This is very strange... It doesn't seem like an overlapping phenomenon."
In the center of the unfinished building area, a small black 'dot' suddenly appeared.
It was like a singularity before the universe was born, behaving like a living thing, expanding and contracting as if it were breathing.
With every breath, the black dot imperceptibly grew a fraction larger.
The moment Xue Jing saw that black dot appear, a tingling sensation spread from the top of his head and rapidly covered his whole body.
A sense of crisis instantly made him focus sharply.
"Something's not right, Captain Void Blade."
Void Blade looked at him quizzically, but Xue Jing waved his hand forcefully and said firmly,
"Run, take everyone and run, leave this place immediately!"
Faced with Xue Jing's sudden commandeering, Void Blade didn't ask questions.
The situation had already gone beyond her field of expertise; having Xue Jing, who seemed to understand some aspects of the situation, take command was much better than her blindly fumbling.
She immediately shouted,
"Everyone retreat at once! Move away from the Boundary Shock Area!"
"Yes!"
Faced with an unprecedented abnormal situation, the people of White Crow were somewhat intimidated and immediately responded loudly, quickly grabbing important equipment and documents and began to retreat like a tide.
Void Blade glanced back at the center of the unfinished building area where the black dot was growing larger; amidst the howling wind, she frowned and shouted at Xue Jing,
"What have you noticed? What are you planning to do?"
Xue Jing's deep blue gaze locked onto the black dot... no, it should now be called a 'black hole.'
Now expanded to the size of half a fist, this black circular hole, at such a distance, allowed Xue Jing's current vision to observe it as clearly as through a microscope.
He saw... an eye.
Emerald green, an irregular diamond-shaped pupil, an eye that belonged neither to humans nor any creature of Earth Star, filled with an alienness utterly foreign to this world, ominous and eerie.
That eye was staring intently at Xue Jing, as if silently saying: It's you, my target is you, I came for you.
Xue Jing rotated his wrist slightly and said softly,
"Captain Void Blade, you better go too... There's filthy stuff coming."
Void Blade, still puzzled, nodded immediately, leaving behind the words "Take care," before quickly departing from the area.
In the entire White Crow Base, only Xue Jing was left, staring into the strange eye within the black hole.
"Why..."
Xue Jing appeared contemplative.
He was certain that the eye within the black void had singled him out as its only target.
Though it was an inexplicable intuition, his experience up to this point had transformed intuition not into mere delusions, but into a highly accurate form of special sensory perception.
But why?
Your next chapter is on My Virtual Library Empire
What exactly was this eye, and why had it targeted him?
Did it lock onto him as its target after seeing him, or... even before seeing him, had it already chosen him as its target, coming from another world specifically to find him?
If it's the former, that's not surprising; he's exceptionally unique, and it would be normal for some beings capable of detecting his uniqueness to be interested in him.
But if it's the latter... that's somewhat terrifying.
It implies that, beyond this present world, some entities from other worlds have set their sights on him.
