I will be a demon in this life!

Chapter 105

"There's a lot of money here. Can I get rich? Or is it all an illusion to make more expensive things appear?" Mart thought when he saw the prize, then looked at the woman with rabbit ears.

She shuddered when she saw the hooded man who had treated her kindly looking at her, immediately thinking that she was going to die a horrible death, and her rabbit ears drooped.

Mart laughed when he saw the woman's rabbit ears tilt and asked her calmly:

-What's your name?

-My name is Deniris. -she replied fearfully.

-Don't worry, Deniris, I won't send you to your death against that Ogre. -Mart said as he turned his gaze back to the arena.

"It's a shame, it's 2.8 points in all attributes, but drawing attention would be the same as asking to be killed, and hiding my identity by using random spells against a monster that outranks me would just be suicide," thought Mart, who shortly after asked in his mind, "System, the other source of the Demon God's energy is below, right?"

[Correct]

Mart nodded and decided to wait for them to give him the money he had won with Tarcan's victory. Since he believed that it didn't take much imagination to guess what kind of bizarre encounters took place on the fourth basement floor, and if he added to that the unknown presence with the energy of a demon god, the decision to leave after collecting his winnings was clearly justified to him.

Since there is no challenger, we will have to call it a day!

But remember, on the fourth basement level, there is no time to rest, only time to enjoy!

The crowd continued to cheer for a challenger, but their cries went unheard.

••••

"Congratulations, sir. You've made a big profit," said Mirinei, handing Mart a small green bag closed with a gold cord.

-Yes, it was a pleasant experience. -added Mart, as he picked up the demonic bag containing the money he had won from betting with one of his elegant white hands.

After receiving the money, Mart went over to the rest of his group to tell them they were leaving. A few seconds later, everyone had left the private box and headed for the exit of the Infernal Coliseum.

Back at the hotel, Deniris followed Mart and Iristel, so he had to accompany her to the room where the three maids were staying.

Knock! Knock! Knock!

Mart knocked on the door. As it was almost nightfall, Nestia opened the door wearing a white nightgown.

-Is something wrong, young sir? -Nestia asked casually.

-She will be staying with you. Her name is Deniris. Don't cause her any trouble. -Mart told Nestia, then looked at Deniris. -And don't cause them any trouble either.

Nestia and Deniris nodded, so Mart returned to his room without saying another word.

••••

Mart returned to his room where Iristel was sitting on the bed wearing a blue blouse and black shorts.

Iristel was reading her book on learning illusory magic, but when she saw Mart, she closed the book, placing the Fertzal paper on the page she was reading, and asked Mart:

-What will you do with her? You know they won't let you take her to the Academy. Are you planning to rent an apartment in the commercial district of Damtes?

Mart sat on the edge of the bed and began to think.

"True, I don't even know how demons treat beastmen. As far as I know, there is no conflict, but demons don't particularly like other species, especially after the long history of losses demons suffered at the hands of the human species. Those losses made demons wary of any other species," Mart stopped rambling and lay down on Iristel's lap.

"I love you, Iristel," Mart said naturally.

Iristel smiled warmly and began to stroke Mart's red hair.

"I can't tell Deniris, 'You're free, go find your people,'" Mart thought as he closed his eyes, but that night he didn't make a final decision.

The next day, Mart and Iristel went to a restaurant serving demonic food, just as he had promised her.

The restaurant was called "Demonic Panacea."

The place was luxurious, with a floor covered in white tiles with gold designs, glass walls, and an unusual ceiling on which projections of beautiful flying demonic beasts could be seen.

The round table for two, around which they sat, had a white tablecloth.

Several minutes later, Mart was looking at a translucent glass plate on which lay a 40-centimeter-long, light blue roasted salamander.

The smell seemed pleasant, but Mart still found it difficult to adapt to the peculiar appearances of each dish of demonic food.

As a side dish, there were vegetables with Imperial sauce.

And to drink, they ordered demon fern nectar.

The sky-blue salamander was called the ice salamander and was only found in frozen deserts. It was a delicacy renowned for its tender meat and pleasant flavor.

The imperial sauce was made from the blood of albino imperial bats and liquefied slices of Cerezel.

Cerezel was a vegetable similar in appearance to a melon, but its rind was black and its interior was blood red.

"None of you have disappointed me when ordering food in these demonic restaurants. Every time you order, crazier dishes appear," thought Mart as he picked up a silver fork with his left hand and a knife with his right.

-Let's enjoy the meal! -said Mart as he sliced the salamander's tail, but he couldn't help being surprised to see that the tail could still wriggle slightly.

-You'll like it when you try it. -said Iristel, just before putting a piece of salamander in her mouth.

Mart nodded and used his fork to put a piece of salamander tail in his mouth, thinking, "I'm a demon, this is what I should be eating. I need to lay the groundwork for building my unicorn rabbit farm."

••••

When Mart and Iristel left the restaurant, they began walking along the sidewalks, now accompanied by the warrior Sitan.

It was impossible for Mart not to notice that the number of demons in the area was increasing every day as the big auction approached.

The visiting demons flaunted their prestigious status as they walked through the city; but for Mart, even though he knew it was common for there to be an increase in the number of visitors during a prestigious commercial event, he also knew that the environment was ideal for many conspirators to enter Zazel City.

Mart went with Iristel to the surroundings of the eclectic architectural style building where the grand auction would take place.

-Ask me for whatever you like, and I'll win it for you. There's nothing a Sevec can't buy! -Mart exclaimed, hugging Iristel and lifting her up, after which they kissed, making a scene that did not go unnoticed by the demons nearby.

"Yes, this attitude is typical of a rich kid. Just because I helped stop the conspirators at the academy doesn't mean I should be a hero. At least that's what I hope they'll conclude," thought Mart as he continued walking with Iristel by his side.

As they walked, Mart used his demonic perception and energy sensitivity to sense the forms of energy around them, which allowed him to realize that there were several demons hidden in the vicinity, watching over the building where the auction was to take place.

[Demon God Energy Detected: (02)]

"So, among the demons guarding the building, there are also conspirators. Something is definitely going to happen at the auction," thought Mart, who walked away with Iristel from the surroundings of the eclectic-style building.

••••

Mart and Iristel entered a shop selling demonic artifacts.

Although Mart acted naturally, as if he were only in Zazel City to spend money and ultimately participate in the Grand Auction, he couldn't help but notice that some demons had begun to follow him cautiously.

Mart realized he was being followed, mainly because among the demons watching him, one of them had the energy of a demon god in his body, and the system had notified him of this.

"System, how many points would I get if I managed to kill the demon with the energy of a demon god who is watching me?" Mart asked in his mind.

[+3.4 in all attributes]

[The demon following you is at the starting point of the sixth rank]

[Warning: the probability of dying in a head-on confrontation is over 76%]

"Don't worry, I'm not going to face it head-on. I'm a wizard, not a warrior," Mart replied in his mind.

Since Mart had an idea of the value of mid-level demonic artifacts and items, he began to look at the wands displayed on the elegant gold-framed counters.

"If everything is made of gold and silver and demonic gems, it's impossible for me to make a comparison. It seems that all the items in Zazel City are luxury or collectible," thought Mart when he saw that the cheapest level 5 demonic wand was priced at 30,000 gold coins.
