I will be a demon in this life!

Chapter 100

The bookstore was larger than it appeared from the outside.

The floor was covered with cream-colored tiles which were engraved with the design of beautiful brown flowers, the walls were a white color that partially absorbed the golden hue emitted by the hanging lights on the ceiling.

There were dozens and dozens of wine-colored wooden shelves, which had signs made of gold on which was written the type of magic book that each shelf contained.

The books mostly had beautiful hardback covers.

Mart headed towards the history books and Iristel accompanied him as he looked at one or another book, but soon after she moved away to look at the books on other shelves, Iristel was followed by Anelia and Sitan.

Mart turned his attention to a book titled, "Demon World," which had the subtitle, "Before Acad I." Mart looked at the price of the book which was about 300 pages long.

"10 000 gold coins. No doubt everything is expensive in this city. But is it the real price? It would pain me to find this book at 100 or even 1000 coins elsewhere," Mart thought holding the book and looking at the gold signs, as he walked to the end of the bookstore he came across a spiral staircase, he looked at Sitan and the warrior understood and nodded.

After making sure that Iristel would be okay, Mart climbed the stairs and reached the upper section of the library in which there were dozens of shelves, again he observed the signs made of gold, and reached a section in which there were books on demonic magic focused on curses.

Mart looked through each book, but none of them caught his attention, most of them were of intermediate demonic magic and their prices were around hundreds of thousands of gold coins.

"I must value the main library more, I thought only the restricted library had valuable books," Mart thought as he remembered that his first steps and knowledge about all kinds of beginning and intermediate level demonic magic he achieved thanks to the main library.

Mart walked towards the spiral staircase, after climbing the steps he came to a section of the bookstore with books focused on elemental type demonic magic, he looked at the books, all luxurious looking.

"More than demonic books or grimoires, these must be collector's items," Mart thought as he saw that the prices of each book were already close to a million gold coins.

When he finished checking the books on the shelves he went up to the next floor of the bookstore, and since they had books focused on demonic summoning magic, he quickly observed and promptly continued up the stairs hoping to find on the next floors some section where there were books only focused on curses. However, when he reached the ninth section of the bookstore, he found only a section with second-hand books on wine-colored shelves with gold signs.

Mart looked at book after book, but none were of interest to him, and he could not find a cursed grimoire or a book of demonic magic focused on curses.

"I don't think I can afford more than one book in this section either. Every time I think I have financial solvency I feel poorer. Studying demonic magic is really expensive, the more advanced the knowledge the more expensive the grimoires and products that are useful become," thought Mart who before leaving looked at the last shelf on which there was a sign that had "Variety" written on it.

Mart approached and began to look at the books one by one, some with worn covers, deteriorated parts, stains and other characteristics of used or antique books.

As he was about to leave, he broke out in a cold sweat, he looked in different directions after seeing a book with a cream cover with brown stains that seemed to have been made of leather and was bound with hair of unknown origin, the book was titled, "Name me and I will appear".

"Damn, this is the second time I've found another strange book like this, and they seem to be related to that. Besides, this one costs 1 200 000 gold coins; what a pain!" thought Mart as he took the book, and then went back to check all books that were on the shelves of the floor he was currently on. Just as before he only found that one book.

Mart went downstairs again, hid the book behind the history book he was already carrying and approached Iristel who was looking at some books about demonic magic of the sensory type.

-Did you find any books you like? -Mart asked her.

-This demonic grimoire looks interesting, it's about hypnotic and illusionary spells. -Iristel answered with a dark red grimoire in her hands.

Mart saw that the grimoire cost 30,000 gold coins, and since he was already taking a book whose origin he did not know but whose price was exorbitant, he said to Iristel in a cheerful tone:

-Since we're here, it's good to take souvenirs, take it and let's pay.

Iristel took the book, and the two walked toward the elegant counter, which was made of wine-colored wood with beautiful carvings.

-The total for the books is 1,240,000 gold coins. -Said a demon with gray eyes, white hair, and two long dark blue horns, one of which had several cracks.

The demon at the counter wore a black and gold wizard's robe and had several gold rings with gems on his hands, just like Senjar Sevec.

As before, Mart paid and as he did so he carefully observed the reactions of the demon at the counter who, after handing him the books in a bag, had not shown the slightest reaction to the book of mysterious origin.

"Who is distributing these books?" Mart wondered as he stored the two books he had bought in his demonic bag and handed the other one to Iristel, who thanked Mart for the gift and immediately stored the book in her demonic ring.

After leaving the bookstore, Mart remained more alert than before, although he acted discreetly. As they walked around observing their surroundings, Mart chose a hotel that cost 1,000 gold coins per day. Although it was not the most luxurious, it was comfortable, and Mart's instinct to save money kicked in after buying the mysterious book.

When everyone was about to go to their rooms, Mart approached Anelia. She was frightened because she was the only servant left, and her first thought was that Mart was going to take advantage of the moment.

-Anelia, go with Sitan and stay outside the building where the small auction is being held, so you can guide Nestia and Zania to the hotel where we are staying. -Mart instructed Anelia and Sitan, but Sitan did not seem comfortable with the idea. -Go with her. I will not be leaving the hotel tonight.

In the end, the warrior Sitan agreed to obey Mart's orders and walked away with Anelia.

Mart and Iristel entered the room, which was quite spacious and comfortable, despite its simple appearance.

Mart was calm, as he had checked the system minutes earlier to confirm that there was no source of demonic energy in the hotel he had chosen.

Iristel threw herself onto the comfortable bed, Mart sat on the edge and said calmly but with a serious look:

-I'll be busy. Stay calm, I'll be fine.

Iristel looked Mart in the eyes, moved closer to him, kissed him, and then said:

-Do what you have to do." I'll wait for you.

Mart sat in a meditation position on the floor of the room, which already had demonic barriers preventing the sound from escaping to the outside. Even so, Mart created nine layers of demonic barriers to create a personal space in which the other demons could not perceive what he was doing.

"Nine layers, although I can't prevent a high-ranking demon from perceiving me, they will first have to overcome my nine barriers, which will allow me to perceive the attempt to intrude into my personal space," thought Mart with a calm look as he took the black staff with the bright orange gem out of his demonic bag.

"Everything here is exorbitantly expensive, and I need a high power level to face any powerful adversaries that may unexpectedly arise. Perhaps this demonic staff is the solution. Defeating enemies with their own weapons would be best," Mart thought as he began to infuse demonic energy into the demonic staff in his hands.

"I hate... I hate them... I don't want to... It hurts... It hurts... Die... Die..."

Mart began to hear the female whispers of despair coming from the staff again, but this time he didn't stop, as the system didn't send any warnings, so he just began to gradually increase the demonic energy he was infusing into the demonic staff so that it would recognize him as its user.

As the demonic energy Mart infused into the staff increased, the murmurs coming from the demonic staff began to increase and intertwine with each other.
