Chapter 16: Finding the Stronghold?
Gimmick was long gone from the village. He was currently walking through a forest with thick dark trees and large red mushrooms around. The grass was a darker green with tiny mushrooms planted in the areas where light didn't shine through. He brushed his hand past the bark, and slew a skeleton, as its bones rattled in defiance. He petted a stray wolf, then threw a fresh bone to it. The wolf gladly accepted and began licking the delicacy, wagging its tail contentedly.
"I shoulda brought some torches." Gim grumbled. The wolf tilted its head, listening to the kind stranger in confusion. Of course the wolf did not understand, its vision helped it see in an environment where light was scarce. "Well let's hope I don't lose any." The wolf barked in agreement as it was left behind. He threw an Eye of Ender high into the air. The eye glowed menacingly, it's pupil capturing the moon's reflection. It began floating higher, moving forward in a linear manner. Once it moved about 20 blocks forward, it began descending slowly until it fell back into Gim's hand. He threw it again, this time it floated to the left. Eventually it burst and Gim cursed silently. He took a left, just as the eye indicated. He continued throwing Eyes of Ender, losing one more in the process. He didn't notice due to keeping his eyes locked on the path, but he had passed the dark mushroom forest and stepped into a desert. He had only noticed once the temperature dropped.
'Huh? When did I-' He wondered as the view of something in the distance distracted him. About 500 blocks in his view he saw a big large structure with two towers made of sand. The two towers had orange sand in the center in the shape of what seemed to be a stick figure with a hat. They were connected to a large pyramid. As he threw another Eye of Ender, he approached it even closer, noticing the eye was leading him there. "Normally there is also an entrance." As he got closer, his sight registered a small open doorway in between. He smiled at the sight of the doorway and started sprinting forwards, pulling out his fishing rod from his backpack as an idea started brewing in his head.
The inside of the pyramid was pretty hollow. In the center there were 4 pillars of sandstone connected to the roof, which was only a few inches above Gim. Surrounding the entire structure were smaller pillars, all at a block distance apart. In between the 4 centered pillars were orange blocks placed in the shape of a crosshair. There was a blue block that was in the middle of all of it, and Gim stomped his foot on the block, as it echoed underneath.
He threw another Eye of Ender as the evil looking orb slowly transited into the ground, directly below Gimmick's feet and into the hollow area underneath the orange crosshair. He used his pickaxe to break the blocks that were hugging the blue center one, and peered inside. It was dark, but he could see 4 chests all separated in a parallel fashion. On the ground was a small stone pressure plate. Gim equipped his fishing rod and threw the line making sure to hit the pressure plate. Suddenly an angry hiss could be heard followed by a large TNT explosion. The chests exploded along with a big area around them, dropping their insides in the process. Gim could see a golden apple, a few pieces of string, a diamond, some bread, a music disc, and a saddle.
He made his way down, and jumped excitedly collecting all his rewards. Suddenly he noticed the stone changed texture and color slightly. He wouldn't have noticed if it wasn't for his deep knowledge of Minecraft an its blocks. He threw the Eye of Ender once more and sure enough it went underneath the special stone block. He had finally found the stronghold.
