Chapter 468: The True Master of the Horcrux
Standing at the dilapidated entrance of Nurmengard, Dumbledore slowly talked about his old past with Grindelwald in a vicissitudes of life.
Two like-minded guys, after meeting each other, became close friends, inseparable all day long... closer than brothers.
We planned to leave Godric's Hollow together and embark on a journey to find the Deathly Hallows.
But my brother disagreed. He said we still had a sick, poor sister who needed to be taken care of. He begged me to stay. We had a big fight and we couldn't give in to each other.
Dumbledore sighed and said with complicated eyes:
Aberforth foolishly drew his wand, and even more foolishly, I drew my wand too.
Together with Grindelwald, the three of us fought together, and no one noticed that Ariana went downstairs.
Dumbledore lowered his eyelids and said with deep sorrow:
I'm not sure who cast the spell, but it doesn't matter anymore. Ariana was standing there one second, and fell to the ground the next second...and was killed.
Looking at the slightly stooped old figure, Rove sighed softly.
Although he knew the inside story very early, he was still full of emotions when he heard the old man slowly tell this painful past.
that summer,
Dumbledore was eighteen years old and Grindelwald was sixteen years old. Two of the most talented teenagers in the wizarding world met at the most youthful age. They were supposed to bear the brightest fruit, but they were caught in an unexpected accident that no one wanted to see. It was ruined by accident.
Meet sooner or later, maybe everything will be different.
It can only be said that they did meet at each other's best years, but not at each other's most appropriate age.
The two quickly walked into the castle, and Rove looked around:
The hall is huge and spacious, and many places are almost decayed and withered. The walls and rows of wooden beams and columns are covered with lichens and purple moss.
As they went up the stairs, there appeared halls, rooms, arches, and fluted columns, on which gray moss had gathered into great moss mounds.
The tower windows were still entwined with black vines, which crawled from the doors, up the archways, and up the high stone walls.
The environment here is not even as good as Azkaban and Uxta Prison!
It's hard for Rove to imagine that there used to be a voodoo party that frightened the wizarding world. It's even harder to imagine that someone can survive here for more than half a century, and that person is...
Grindelwald!
They came to the top floor of the tower and continued walking. The sound of their footsteps echoed strangely and unevenly in the long corridor.
There were doors in the passage, some closed, many ajar. All the rooms have been abandoned.
Finally, Dumbledore stopped at the door of the most corner room. The door had a number, but it was faded and almost illegible.
Dumbledore stood at the door, paused for a moment, and then slowly pushed the door open.
An old man in a thin gray robe stood alone by the window. He was as thin as a skeleton, with his cheeks shrunk inward and his eye sockets sunken inward.
Albus, long time no see. The old man's old lips grinned slightly, revealing a mouth with missing teeth.
I thought you'd never come again.
Grindelwald smiled when he saw Dumbledore, and every wrinkle and crevice on his haggard face exuded a strange brilliance.
Dumbledore deliberately avoided his eyes, just bowed his head and said softly to Rove: He is Gellert Grindelwald.
Rove stared at Grindelwald.
When the first Dark Lord was young, he was an extremely handsome man, but now he is just a bad old man with his days gone by. Only those deep blue eyes can still vaguely see his former demeanor.
Hi, my name is Rolf Scamander.
Grindelwald looked at the boy with interest, his wrinkled face, and his eyes shone like polished sapphires.
Oh, you're Newt's grandson? I've heard Albus mention you many times. Has he ever told you about me before?
Rove felt a little embarrassed for a while, and glanced at Dumbledore quietly from the corner of his eye.
In fact, the principal had never mentioned Grindelwald in front of him before, otherwise he would not have been unaware that the basilisk had been sent here.
The boy had no choice but to blink, and avoided talking: My grandfather has told you many times, and he said that you have been friends for decades.
Newt? I don't have half the friendship with your grandfather. Grindelwald said bluntly, He stole something as precious as me back then.
Rove smiled embarrassingly, what Grindelwald was talking about should be the blood alliance pendant that Xixiu stole.
That was indeed Grindelwald and Dumbledore's... token of love.
Dumbledore interrupted their conversation and asked, Where's the basilisk?
I put him in hibernation, Grindelwald said. You know, I don't have food for him here.
So how's your investigation going?
I followed the piece of soul in the basilisk to check his memory, and most of them have been intertwined with the basilisk, which is very confusing. Grindelwald said.
I had to use a lot of highly skilled Legilimency to draw it out, and finally extracted the memory of making the Horcrux... Do you want to see it?
Dumbledore nodded.
Grindelwald raised his arm, and a skeleton pipe floated over from the corner.
The Skeleton Pipe is a valuable alchemical item similar to a Pensieve.
The function of the Pensieve is to put memories in the basin so that others can go in and watch it.
And the skeleton cigarette bag is to release the picture of the brain in the form of a small video by inhaling and exhaling the magic smoke.
Grindelwald picked up the pipe, he inhaled deeply through the pipe, and then began to exhale.
A huge painting with bright colors seems to spread out from between his lips and extend to the stone ceiling.
What caught the eye was a huge ring-shaped crater from outside to inside, from white to gray, from gray to black, and from black to red.
There are two more wizards at the bottom of the pit.
Rove recognized the wizard lying on the ground at a glance, and he murmured:
Professor Rowena Ravenclaw.
Beside Ravenclaw, there was a man and a basilisk hovering.
The man waved his wand, aimed at himself, and said loudly:
Broken soul, Anda Jones!
As the spell ended, he let out a painful roar, and many black shadows gathered on the ground, slowly and silently squirming under the moonlight.
Finally, another shadow split from the shadow, it stood up, rushed towards the basilisk, and got into its body.
The basilisk hissed, but in the end a piece of soul was sealed in its body.
Rove watched this scene quietly, he already understood it completely.
After killing Ravenclaw, Slytherin used the basilisk to create a... Horcrux.
