Chapter 25: Thunder Dragon
But Angelina narrowed her eyes."Have you forgotten the bet? Do as I say."
With no other choice, Tian Zhen nodded silently and turned to head toward the hall.
He didn't speak another word. Quietly, he made his way to bring their son to her.
But just as he reached the door—
BOOOOM!
A thunderous crack tore through the sky like a god's roar.
Tian Zhen froze mid-step.
"That sound… that's not normal thunder," he thought, his eyes narrowing sharply.
The very air shifted. He could feel it in his bones—this wasn't an ordinary storm. It was a Heavenly Tribulation.
He stood rooted in place, stunned.
"A Heavenly Tribulation? But… for whom?"
His first thought was of his father."Could it be for him? No... He already completed his breakthrough. It can't be."
Confused and increasingly uneasy, Tian Zhen spun around and rushed back to the hall.
But the moment he opened the door—
His eyes widened in disbelief.
There, floating in mid-air, was his newborn son, wrapped in a radiant golden light.
It didn't take him long to understand. The tribulation... is for him.
Without wasting a second, Tian Zhen dashed to the center of the hall to make sure his child was safe.
Meanwhile, hovering gently in the air, the boy spotted his father.Ufff… I might survive this after all, he thought with narrowed eyes.If I can just reach him… I'll be safe. But how do I get to him?
He paused, thinking hard.
Then, suddenly—
He started crying.
The entire hall went dead silent.
One person exclaimed, "Wait… he's crying?!"
Another chimed in, "Now that you mention it… ever since his birth and breakthrough, we've all been so caught up… he hasn't cried even once!"
"Right," said someone else. "All newborns cry the moment they're born. But this one… didn't even shed a single tear. He's already defied every expectation of the Demon Clan's heir."
"But then why now?" someone asked. "Why cry all of a sudden?"
"Maybe he's scared," one of them suggested. "Look at that tribulation hovering above him. Even experienced cultivators would tremble at such power."
"Oh… I get it now," another said softly. "Who wouldn't be terrified? And he's just a baby…"
Back to the boy—He kept crying.
Seeing this, Xing Tian gently picked him up and tried everything he could to calm him down. But no matter what he did, the baby only cried louder. In fact, the moment he entered his grandfather's arms, his cries intensified.
Tian Zhen quickly walked over, witnessing the scene unfold. The boy was still crying hysterically.
"Dad," Tian Zhen said, approaching. "Let me hold him for a bit. I'll try taking him to Angelina. Maybe she can calm him down."
The baby's eyes lit up with hope.Yes! Dad, take me to Mom! I don't feel safe here. Grandpa's energy is too intense… I don't trust that old man one bit.
But Xing Tian firmly shook his head.
"Are you out of your mind?" he snapped. "Angelina is still weak! And can't you see the tribulation hovering above the child? If we take him near her now, both of them could get hurt. She won't be able to protect him. It's safer here."
The boy blinked.Damn it… Grandpa's actually right. But still… I don't want to stay in his arms! Dad can handle the tribulation too! Just let me go to him!
With that, he wailed even louder, his little face turning red.
Tian Zhen raised his hands gently.
"Alright, Father, I get it. I won't take him to Angelina. Just… let me hold him. Maybe I can calm him down."
Xing Tian hesitated. Then, with a sigh, he slowly handed the child over.
"Be careful," he warned. "Only one tribulation has fallen so far—two more are still left."
Tian Zhen nodded with confidence.
"Don't worry, Father. I'm strong enough to protect my son."
Xing Tian gave a slight smile."Good. That's what I wanted to hear."
He passed the child into Tian Zhen's arms.
And then—The crying stopped.
Everyone froze.
Xing Tian blinked. "What…? Just like that? He stopped crying? Then why was he screaming in my arms?!"
Behind him, Thomas chuckled.
"Maybe your face is just too scary for babies."
Xing Tian turned sharply. "What did you just say?! Stop talking nonsense. I'm very handsome!"
The baby, now peacefully resting in Tian Zhen's arms, silently thought:What Grandpa Thomas said is true… Grandpa, your face is dangerous.
Just as the hall began to relax—
CRACK!A blinding bolt of lightning ripped through the heavens.
Xing Tian's face darkened."Here comes the second one! Tian Zhen, shield him—now!"
Without hesitation, Tian Zhen responded, summoning a massive shield of golden energy. It enveloped both him and the baby just in time as the second tribulation slammed down from the sky.
The force shook the air—but the shield held.
Just as Tian Zhen steadied himself—
The third tribulation stirred.
And this one… was different.
The sky turned pitch black, darker than ink.As if the heavens themselves had shut their eyes.
Lightning surged through the clouds, bolts twisting and converging—until they began to take shape.
A colossal beast of storm and fury:A Thunder Dragon.
It circled above the heavens, silent at first, its loops growing faster with each pass. Its power built like a tidal wave, and even without a roar, its presence shook the hearts of all watching.
Then, in one swift movement, the dragon surged upward—vanishing into the clouds.
Moments later, it came diving back down—Faster than sound. Its target clear: the boy and his father.
Gasps filled the hall.
Someone screamed, "W-What the hell?! That thunder… it turned into a dragon?! What kind of tribulation is this?!"
Chaos and awe gripped the crowd. Eyes widened. Panic spread.
And then—An old man stepped forward.
He was quiet, but his presence silenced the entire hall. An elder of unmatched cultivation, one whose mere breath carried weight.
"I know what's happening here," he said calmly.
All eyes snapped to him.
"You do?" someone asked. "Tell us! What is going on?!"
The old man closed his eyes, diving into a memory buried long ago. When he opened them, they glowed with understanding.
"Alright," he said. "I'll tell you.Listen carefully—"
