I Want to Be a VTuber

Chapter 232

Seo-yeon looked at the revised script.

The filming of “Gyeongseong Young Lady” had been going quite smoothly so far.

In such a situation, a new script like this was rather special.

“That said, it’s not exactly a bizarre situation.”

In movie filming, scripts often undergo multiple changes due to various circumstances. Sometimes, similar scenes are shot in multiple versions just to cover all bases.

There could even be several versions of a script existing simultaneously, sometimes with entirely different writers involved.

Of course, Seo-yeon had never experienced such a thing, but it seemed to be a trial commonly faced by seasoned actors.

“Fortunately, it’s a case of scenes being added.”

When the existing scenes change, the emotional lines can also shift, requiring the actors to recalibrate their emotions. However, the current scene was simply an addition.

“…Wait, has some action acting been added?”

Catching a glimpse of Director Baek Min, she noticed a faint smile forming on his lips.

He seemed to have quickly sensed the meaning behind her glance.

And then, he made a throwing motion.

“Is he referring to the scene where Jo Seo-hee was thrown?”

That entire bit had been improvised and apparently left a significant impression on him. So it seemed that Yuina’s character had transformed from merely a wealthy young lady to one with a strangely Yakuza-like background.

In other words, Yuina’s character setting had been slightly altered.

“Considering what she does in the story, it actually feels more normal for her to be connected to the Yakuza.”

When thinking it through, Yuina’s goal was to use Yeon Seon-ye to find the hidden location of the Amanabi family’s fortune that Michiko was hiding, and to acquire the key to that location. The second aim was to kill Michiko. Just from these two objectives, it became clear how Yuina’s ties to a Yakuza family made sense.

So, there would likely be additional scenes to film early on, but they didn’t seem too challenging.

It would make sense if Yuina had to be much stronger in the fight against Michiko.

However, it was unexpected that such settings would come up in the first filming in Japan.

“Seo-yeon, have you checked the script?”

As she was memorizing the script, a few actors participating in this shoot approached her.

“There aren’t many action acting parts, but there’s been some added, so I think we need to work on the coordination. Are you okay with that?”

“Don’t we usually practice more for action acting?”

“Well, it’s not like the scene is anything spectacular.”

True enough, looking at the script, they weren’t doing anything major; Yuina was just having a little scuffle.

“Anyway, the action parts will be handled by the stunt actors.”

With that, the actor chuckled, standing behind him were white actors. They were probably stunt performers brought in from Japan.

Stella, played by Stella Baldwin, was described as a Western lady and a trader. Although portrayed as Michiko’s friend, she was actually a character who betrays her.

…Despite her very limited screen time, her role was shockingly substantial for a cameo. This was more like a minor role.

Regardless of this setup, all her bodyguards and subordinates were foreigners. Since they couldn’t source such actors in Korea, they had to collaborate locally in Japan.

Fortunately, there were many white actors in Japan, making it a not-so-difficult task. All were stunt actors, by the way.

“Seo-yeon, I’ve heard the stories.”

“Yeah?”

As she watched them, the male actor who had first spoken to her had a mischievous smile.

“I heard that the stunt actors at Cheonghong Action School tremble at the sight of you?”

“….”

“They say you’d tear them apart. Doing action scenes with you.”

“That’s way too exaggerated.”

“Is it? I’m pretty sure I saw someone flying when I went to study action acting….”

“That was just coincidence….”

How could someone just coincidentally fly away?

Seo-yeon stopped talking at that point, thinking it would only tarnish her dignity to say more.

“I should maintain a moderate level of strength.”

She sighed inwardly.

When she was younger, she felt she was just around the level of adult men, but now it seemed like she’d crossed a line.

Her looks were one thing, but why was this physical prowess bestowed upon her?

Had she genuinely become invincible after constantly joking about being an invincible TS body?

“Anyway, that’s just a joke. Honestly, I’m kind of looking forward to seeing those friends get wrecked.”

He said this while gesturing toward Seo-yeon.

As he had mentioned prior, it was meant to synchronize their action acting.

“It feels like the shoot is being delayed more than usual.”

That was likely because Stella needed to check the script.

Even though she had a minor role, she had many lines for that scene.

So it could take time, perhaps, but…

“Looking at the number of scripts she’s holding, it seems she didn’t just receive the script.”

Seo-yeon briefly glanced toward Stella.

It was likely she had read through the entirety of “Gyeongseong Young Lady.”

Just to shoot a single scene.

And as Seo-yeon had thought, “The story kicks off when Yuina gives Yeon Seon-ye a request.”

Stella was apparently going through a summary of the entire storyline of “Gyeongseong Young Lady,” revealing what had happened up to the scene they were about to shoot.

The film begins like this:

While walking through the streets of Gyeongseong, Kasugayama Yuina realizes that her bear pipe, which she had always kept close, is missing. Then, Yuina suddenly recalls a woman who had brushed past her. Quite literally, in a split second.

The woman who had stolen her belonging without Yuina even noticing.

Yuina was not the type to endure having her belongings taken away, so she commanded Isamu to go and retrieve her pipe. However, Isamu smiled and mentioned that he already knew the woman.

In fact, the lady who had stolen the pipe was someone Koto Isamu had already taken an interest in.

Isamu commands the woman to steal Yuina’s bear pipe so she can display her skills to Yuina. As evidence, Isamu shows Yuina the very pipe the woman had stolen.

“What’s the purpose of this, Isamu?”

“The woman is a thief who will return what the young lady lost.”

That’s how the movie begins.

Isamu and Yeon Seon-ye had a separate relationship, and Yuina followed next.

But their objectives were the same.

At least until their relationship began to shift halfway through.

“Interesting.”

Stella chuckled while reading through the script.

When she closed her eyes, the described scenes vividly came to her mind.

Yuina fighting to reclaim what was taken from her by Michiko.

And what Yuina desires is undoubtedly something from Michiko.

The situation grows even more amusing when you realize that Yeon Seon-ye is merely a chance meeting person slowly becoming ‘really’ important to both of them.

Moreover, from Yeon Seon-ye’s perspective, the two parties were victims and perpetrators.

Even though they were in different positions, they were gradually aligning.

Through Yeon Seon-ye, Yuina is determined to unravel Michiko’s secrets.

Meanwhile, Michiko gradually gets caught up with Yeon Seon-ye, learning the motives behind Yeon Seon-ye’s treatment of her.

However, she does not reveal this knowledge.

Even with feelings of betrayal and deep conflict swirling within her.

“And Yuina.”

To Yuina, Yeon Seon-ye was merely a pawn, but gradually, everything changes.

The scene added today is a device to amplify Yuina’s feelings.

“It was there originally, but they’ll display it much more intensely through my character.”

It’s clear the initial focus was more on the relationship between Michiko and Yeon Seon-ye, but now it seems Yuina’s significance has grown too. It seems they are trying to emphasize a love triangle instead of a simple love story.

Just before, they shot a scene where the bond between Michiko and Yeon Seon-ye drastically increased, so now, in this scene, they aim to enhance the relationship between Yuina and Yeon Seon-ye.

And in this scene, Stella’s own character is simply expendable.

Despite the elaborate setup proposed, it’s just a mere minor role.

A legendary actress appearing as a cameo, yet this is the treatment she gets.

She found this point incredibly amusing.

“It seems we’re about to start filming.”

Having read through the storyline of “Gyeongseong Young Lady” multiple times, Asher Baldwin spoke up.

“Are you really capable of doing it?”

The question of whether one could do it was directed at Stella.

And the matter of whether one could or couldn’t was not something really dependent on Stella.

It relied on whether other actors could perform well or not.

“Yeah, I can do it.”

Stella tore her gaze away from the script and looked ahead.

It felt as if the faces of the people, like wax figures, floated aimlessly in the air.

In her perspective, people all looked like mannequins.

Some had faces, some didn’t.

Regardless, mere mannequins.

Among them, there were ones who stood out distinctly.

Actors uniquely dressed for the shoot.

Among them were both mannequins and non-mannequins.

“Joo Seo-yeon.”

The actress her father, Asher Baldwin, was interested in.

She was not a mannequin but stood there as ‘Kasugayama Yuina.’

The actress beside her, though slightly dim, was present there as ‘Yeon Seon-ye.’

To Stella, reality was merely a colorless space.

A dreadful world inhabited by mannequins.

Yet, those living in a fictional world were incredibly beautiful.

Characters.

Not human, but beings born from imagination.

They were life forms that did not harm her, merely existing atop lines of text.

Stella had simply met Seo-yeon, guided by Asher Baldwin’s interest.

But now, things were different.

Right now, she thought she was contemplating Seo-yeon more deeply than Asher was.

In front of the broadcasting station in Korea.

From the very first moment she saw her.

“I was able to see you properly from the start.”

Black hair, white skin.

Eyes tinged with red. They had definitely seemed red when in character, but were those contact lenses?

It didn’t matter.

What was important was that Stella could gaze directly at Seo-yeon.

In a world of equality, only Seo-yeon stood out clearly before her.

“Right. You’re like that too, aren’t you? You’re someone who decorates yourself as a character all the time.”

Stella understood why Asher Baldwin said she resembled him.

Seo-yeon was living as an actress in a similar manner to herself.

So there was no way she couldn’t be special.

“You should live in the same world as me.”

With the script beside her, Stella rose from her seat.

The filming was starting soon, and she needed to be in her designated spot.

“You’ll show the same acting that will make others come to see you, just like you did to the other actors in Japan.”

Just like Asher had been astonished when he saw her.

Just like Stella had come to Korea after watching Seo-yeon’s performance.

If Seo-yeon could make that happen as a cameo, then so could she.

Seo-yeon would display the performance that would make Stella come to see her.

“Yeah, of course.”

Stella covered her face with her palm.

She felt a genuine smile blossom on her lips—the kind she hadn’t formed in a long time.

It was undoubtedly a heartfelt smile, one she hadn’t had in a while.

Stella felt increasingly good.

It really had been ages.

***

“…I feel like something’s off.”

Seo-yeon trembled at the intense gaze of Stella approaching her with a smile.

Though she’d sensed it before, it remained hard to read Stella’s emotions.

However, regardless of her feelings, Seo-yeon could continuously sense one thing.

That was a sense of kinship.

Stella probably felt something similar too.

That’s certainly why she sent such a look her way.

“Hmm.”

Of course, Seo-yeon didn’t understand why.

But it was clear that Stella was mistaken about something.

“Acting.”

Considering all the conversations she’d had with Stella, it seemed that way.

Stella struggled to genuinely recognize people, and that must relate to her condition.

Seo-yeon had already confirmed that before filming.

“Stella decorates herself and lives, so does she think I’m similar?”

That might be the case.

Yet, she still felt they were essentially a bit different.

“Perhaps it relates to my unresolved past life.”

It might be a trait that arises because she’s yet to ‘graduate.’

Of course, all of this is speculation, but it was certain that Stella’s thoughts and her own thoughts would be different.

“I don’t know.”

“What’s up, Joo Seo-yeon?”

“Nothing much. More importantly, are you okay with filming alongside Stella?”

“Of course, I don’t mind.”

Lee Ji-yeon replied confidently.

Seo-yeon nearly clapped out of reflex, given Ji-yeon’s boldness.

However, contrary to that assertive image, she felt it would be a bit challenging for Ji-yeon.

Stella, who was smiling brightly, had come to completely break this film.

She was here to outshine her own performance above anyone else’s.

“It might be okay since you’re Yeon Seon-ye.”

“…That comment doesn’t sit well with me.”

“No, it just means you’re good at matching your acting to your counterpart.”

Seo-yeon believed in that without a doubt.

At any rate, her trust in Ramiel was strong.

“No matter how much of a troublesome viewer Stella might be.”

She couldn’t forget how many difficult fans Stella had comfortably dealt with in her past life.

So she could at least trust that she could receive acting ‘in any form.’

Though she herself couldn’t make a striking presence, there was no one better than Ji-yeon at making her counterpart stand out.

“That’s not fitting for a protagonist.”

Ji-yeon muttered and then stood beside Jo Seo-hee.

Since both Stella’s and Seo-yeon’s entrances would be a little later, the starting scene follows Michiko and Yeon Seon-ye at an auction showcasing Western trade goods.

Then, Yuina, having heard the news of the two, would make her way to the auction house belatedly.

That marked the start of this scene.

“Young lady, is it really okay to go to this auction? What if you end up being chased away?”

“Seon-ye, stop chattering. I’m here beside you; who could possibly chase you away?”

Jo Seo-hee delivered her lines while scanning the filming set.

Her gaze eventually landed right on Stella and Seo-yeon.

In this scene, Michiko wasn’t likely to have an active role.

So she could watch both of their performances as the “audience.”

That sparked some anticipation within her.

Stella and Joo Seo-yeon.

She had been a bit disappointed seeing Stella’s real self, but she was an actress capable of delivering the star-like performance that Jo Seo-hee so yearned for.

“You’ll see a lot of sparkling things. Look forward to it; it should be quite something.”

She spoke with an expectant smile.

That smile was undoubtedly more than just acting.

She genuinely looked forward to the gems she would witness ahead.
