Azrael's POV:

(My stats are still weak. I need to focus on killing monsters to level up)

Azrael decided to go into the forest again to fight monsters

as Azrael walked through the forest, scanning the area for monsters. He then came across a group of monsters called Hodgelings in the distance.

He recalled a book he read about these creatures. Hodgelings were small, aggressive monsters that resembled bunnies, but walked like humans. Despite their small size, they were dangerous, especially when they attacked in groups. A single human was no match for twenty or more of them.

(well ofcourse 1 human is no match but i'm not alone) as azrael thought while smirking

Azrael summoned 5 skeleton warriors to kill the Hodgelings, "Attack!" Azrael commanded, sending his skeleton warriors into action.

The skeletal soldiers surrounded the Hodgelings, slashing through them one by one. The Hodgelings fought back fiercely, but it was hopeless. In the blink of an eye, all 30 plus of them lay defeated.

Mana Cost: 80 per skill used

(Ha, what a great skill addition, I wonder if the skill power would vary depending on how powerful of a monster I consume?) Azrael thought

(But for now, I need more monsters to fight.)

Azrael called out for the two skeletons out of 5 he already summonned and commanded them to "Scout the area and look for any monster we could kill"

Without hesitation the two skeletons immediate went seperate ways to scout the area.

Before Azrael going to go deeper he realized that he might lose his way if he ventured too far, he quickly came up with a plan. So he summoned ten more skeleton warriors frm his inventory and gave them clear instructions. "We're going deeper into the forest. Stay on guard, and I'll leave one of you behind every 100 meters. That way, I'll have a path to guide me back to the village."

With the plan in place, Azrael began moving forward, leaving a skeleton stationed at regular intervals. Each one remained still, their presence marking the trail. As he advanced.

After a while, as Azrael was walking, one of the skeletons returned to him. The skeleton couldn't talk, but it was clearly signaling that it had found a monster nearby.

"Let's go," as Azrael commanded his skeleton army.

He followed the skeleton to the destination it had found.

(What the hell? It's a pack of Southern Maggie Wolves) Azrael thought to himself. As a bookworm like Azrael he immediately recognized the creatures a one glance. (They're very timid and rare to find, but they're never aggressive towards humans. In fact, they protect the forests from other monsters. I should get out of here and not bother them.)

As Azrael was about to leave, the wolf leader sensed his powerful mana and was put on immediate alert along with his pack. The wolf leader sensed the powerful mana coming from the direction where Azrael was.

(Oh shit, did they sense me?) Azrael thought as he fled the scene.

The wolf leader pursued this powerful mana it sensed and chased Azrael down.

(Ahh, I don't want to fight them though. Guess I have no choice. I'll try to fend them off without hurting them.) Azrael thought and immediately commanded the skeletons to fight. "Fend them off, but don't inflict fatal injuries."

The skeletons, after hearing the command, immediately sprung into action.

The skeletons clashed with the other wolves, but the wolf leader's eyes lit up, and its movements became very fast.

(What? They can use magic? Ahh sh-t, how could I forget? They really do have magic.) Azrael ran faster (Ahh sh-t...)

Immediately, Azrael used Soul Traversal to escape. He became invisible to the alpha wolf's eyes, but the wolf leader could still sense the powerful mana Azrael was secreting. The wolf leader became even faster in chasing after Azrael.

(What the hell? How can he follow me with that speed? Shit, the minute is almost over. I'm going to have to wait another minute to use this skill again. Guess I have no choice but to fight.)

As Azrael prepared for a fight, he summoned the Goblin Chief Skeleton before traversal state is over .

"GRAHHHH!" the goblin chief howled in anger as it punched the wolf leader. It caught the wolf leader off guard, sending it flying into the trees. This made the wolf leader angrier, and it used a magic skill—with the whip of it's tail a wind attack strong enough to slash through trees effortlessly is released.

Slash—

It hit the goblin chief, causing it to be staggered from the force of the attack. Azrael left the Soul Traversal state and unleashed a Soul Blast attack at the wolf leader, but the wolf leader's quick reflexes allowed it to dodge.

//=== Two Goblin Souls Consumed ===\\

The missed attack caused an explosion, and the wolf leader rushed towards Azrael. Azrael barely dodged, tumbling to the ground. He quickly got up, but the wolf leader was too fast and was about to slash Azrael in half. The goblin chief interfered and punched the wolf leader out of nowhere.

(F--k, this is a formidable opponent) Azrael thought.

The wolf leader slammed into a tree from the powerful punch it received and let out a loud, powerful howl that reverberated across the entire forest.

Even in the village, people could hear the howl. The once-white wolf leader turned into a crimson-colored wolf.

(It's his enraged state,) Azrael thought. (F--k, I still can't use Soul Traversal yet.)

The wolf leader then blitzed toward Azrael at incredible speed. In just a second, it tried to slash Azrael with its sharp claws. Luckily, Azrael was only hit by the wolf's paw, which sent him flying.

This enraged the goblin chief skeleton, which charged at the wolf. The wolf blitzed toward the goblin chief, biting its head. While the skeleton didn't take damage, the goblin chief used this opportunity to land a powerful punch to the wolf leader's stomach, causing it to stumble. The wolf retaliated with another attack, howling again. This time, the surroundings became windy, and an electrocharge gathered in the air.

In the sky, large crimson-colored thunderbolts struck the goblin chief three times. The last strike was so powerful that it created a massive gust of wind in the area.

Azrael, witnessing this powerful attack, saw the system pop up:

//====

Warning: A powerful attack was landed on your Goblin Chief Skeleton. If this continues, it will be killed and removed from your inventory.

====//

Another message followed:

//====

Warning: A strong opponent is nearby!

====//

"Geez, thank you for the reminder" Azrael saidas he tried to recover from the attack.

Azrael used Soul Traversal again to become invisible to the wolf leader's eyes. Although the wolf couldn't see him, it continued tracking Azrael's mana. Azrael appeared behind the wolf leader and unleashed a Soul Blast attack.

//===System: 10 Hodgeling Souls Consumed ===\

The attack caught the wolf leader off guard and landed directly. The goblin chief followed up with a punch to the wolf leader's face. The wolf retaliated with the wind blade attack it had used earlier. Azrael used Soul Traversal again, appearing from the wolf's side while it was distracted. He unleashed another powerful Soul Blast, then immediately used Soul Traversal again to conceal himself and prepare for another attack.

//=== System: 3 Goblin Souls and 13 Hodgeling Souls Consumed ===\

The attack was extremely powerful, significantly weakening the wolf leader.

(Almost there... just a bit more,) Azrael thought.

Desperate, the wolf leader began charging a massive energy attack in its mouth, the energy forming into a glowing ball that grew larger and larger.

As Azrael left the soul traversal state on the wolf leader's left side, preparing to strike Soul blast, the wolf leader suddenly leapt high into the air and unleashed the glowing energy ball on the ground, completely devouring the ground with a massive explosion.

BOOM!

//===

System: Goblin Chief has died in battle.

The following item will be removed from your inventory.

===\\

The explosion created a massive crater, destroying the surrounding trees. As the dust settled, the wolf leader scanned the area, assuming it had successfully killed Azrael at this point the wolf leader can't sense Azraels mana.

but suddenly, Azrael appeared directly in front of the wolf leader exiting from his soul traversal state. And shouted "Ha! caught you now!" releasing one final Soul Blast.

BOOM!

The explosion sent a shockwave through the forest. When the dust cleared, Azrael saw the wolf leader lying unconscious, its fur returning to its original white.

"phew... I was just passing by and you had to almost kill me, haha" Azrael said, sitting down in exhaustion.

"Ahh, my mana's almost gone. What a tough opponent," Azrael said, standing up and approaching the unconscious wolf leader.

"It'd be easy to kill you and add your soul to my inventory... but I'm not that heartless," he said with a sigh. The window system popped up

(Hmmm, can I understand them now? And will they be able to talk too?) Azrael wondered.

At the corner of his eye, wolves began emerging from the trees, slowly creeping closer to their leader. Azrael became wary, thinking they wanted revenge for their defeated leader. Heads lowered, the wolves approached cautiously, though their growls showed lingering aggression toward Azrael.

"Growrr..." the wolves muttered.
