I Took A Succubus's First Time

Chapter 321: Handing Over

Kouhei slowly let his gaze drift over the sea of faces before him.

All these people with them all watching, waiting, and hanging on his every word.

Surprisingly, not a single one of them looked bored with their attention unwavering. There was no shifting glances, no quiet side conversations, and nothing to hint they'd rather be anywhere else.

Deep down, Kouhei still thought it didn't really matter that much. Yet even so, he'd poured what little he had into giving the best speech he could muster.

And finally, after what felt like an eternity, he reached the end.

"Once again, I thank all of you, because this was something that I wouldn't have been able to do—and achieve a win against Souichiro—without you," Kouhei said, his voice carrying over the silent crowd.

And then, the moment the last syllable left his lips, the silence shattered with the cheers erupting all around him.

The sound rolled over him in waves, crashing and echoing in his ears.

For a moment, Kouhei just stood there, caught off guard. He hadn't expected applause, not really. His speech had felt awkward with him stumbling over itself in places, with his words rough and messy like mismatched threads.

Yet somehow… they clapped anyway.

"That was… quite something," Kouhei admitted later, rubbing the back of his neck with his voice tinged with disbelief. "I honestly never thought I'd end up standing there in front of hundreds of people just to give a speech. If you'd told me that ahead of time, Hina-san, I might've actually tried to prepare something, you know?"

"Well," Hina replied, her voice calm, almost amused. "The moment they heard you were awake, they rushed to see you as soon as possible. There really wasn't any chance for you to prepare a speech. But in the end, you still managed to deliver a good one. I think it was enough to make them very happy."

"Really?" Kouhei murmured, doubt creeping into his voice.

Even with all the cheering and applause, he couldn't shake the thought that his words had been plain with nothing but thanks to those who fought, apologies to those who fell, and the simple declaration that the war was a victory. Nothing about it felt special to him.

"You don't have to worry so much, Kou-kun," Nagisa chimed in gently, her tone soothing. "Demons from hell don't really know much about speeches anyway, so they probably didn't catch the flaws. And the demons who've been living among humans—like Momoka, for example—they're not the type to fuss over speeches either. As long as your words had real feeling in them, that's all that mattered. I think it turned into something that actually made them want to follow you more."

"F-Follow me…?" Kouhei echoed, his brows furrowing at the unexpected idea.

"The Kouhei Faction," Yuuna said, almost playfully. "Sounds better than the Yuuna Faction, doesn't it?"

"Wha…? But that was just supposed to be a placeholder until you came back, wasn't it?" Kouhei stammered. "Wait, you're not really thinking about making me the leader of the faction, are you?"

"Fufufufu… are you scared of leading your own army now, Kouhei?" Hina teased lightly, a faint amusement sparkling in her gaze.

Of course he was. The thought rattled around in his chest like a pebble in a jar. He'd only just fought his first war with him barely managing to come out alive—and now they were talking about putting him in charge of an entire faction? It felt like the ground had dropped out beneath him.

"What about you, Yuuna-san?" Kouhei turned toward her, his voice caught halfway between curiosity and worry.

Yuuna had led the Yuuna Faction for years—long before he'd even been born, she'd held that title. And now she was ready to pass it over so easily? To him, who barely knew where to start?

"I think it's only right," Yuuna began, her voice quiet but clear. "For someone who can turn impossibilities into real possibilities. And the way you led during the war against my brother—you did it so well. I could've never done something like that. I absolutely suck at leadership. You probably figured that out already."

It wasn't exactly a secret. Yuuna could manipulate people and bend them to her will—but true leadership? That was never her strength.

And seeing Kouhei rally an entire army of succubi outside the fortress of the Great House of Sarushima had proven to her that he really could take charge. To her, it felt right—better even—to let him hold that title instead.

"Which is why, I think it's only right if I gave the leadership to you," Yuuna finished, her lips curling into a soft, untroubled smile.

The way she spoke, it wasn't forced or sad—just… natural. Like it truly didn't bother her at all.

Kouhei swallowed, his throat suddenly dry, and let his gaze wander around the room, catching the faces of everyone gathered there.

"You don't have a problem with this, everyone?" he asked quietly, voice a little uncertain.

"Well, I was the first one on board when Yuuna suggested it, so no," Hina answered easily, her expression calm.

"You can count me in with those who don't have a problem with it, Kou-kun!" Nagisa added brightly, her eyes shining.

"I also don't have a problem with it," Misuzu said, her voice soft but firm.

"I'm on board with this as well, Kouhei-sama," Aria added respectfully.

"Hmph. You've proved yourself enough. I don't think there's much room for me to complain," Kozue said, arms crossed, her tone gruff but honest.

"Fufufufu… if everyone else agrees, then I suppose I do too. Actually, I think you could make a pretty good leader, Okumura-san," Yumi teased, her smile playful.

"Sakurako also agrees," Sakurako said, her words gentle.

Even Ruriko simply nodded her head, her expression calm and unwavering.

"W-Well, I was the last one here, so I honestly don't know what to say," Masaki admitted, sounding almost embarrassed. "But I think Okumura-kun could do a great job as a leader, especially with how efficiently you handled things during the war."

And in that moment, Kouhei saw it clearly that every single one of them was on board with it without any ounce of hesitation.

He lowered his head, staring down at the floor as if it might give him an answer.

"C-Can I… think about it for a moment?" he asked, his voice quieter than before with it almost hesitant.

It felt only fair for him to ask that, really.

Just a few months back, he'd been living the life of a perfectly ordinary human—with him being quiet and almost invisible to everyone around him.

He had no close friends and he barely have any real connections as he'd spent years melting into the background, someone easily overlooked and forgotten.

And now, out of nowhere, they were asking him to step forward and lead an entire faction—something that felt far too big, something that pressed on his chest like a weight too heavy to lift.

He couldn't just give them an answer right away. Kouhei knew deep down that he had to really sit with this, to let the thought settle in properly before saying yes or no.

"Well, you don't need to worry about it for now," Yuuna said gently, her voice carrying that calm confidence that always seemed to steady him a little. "Take all the time you need to think about it," she added, her gaze softening as she spoke. "I'll wait for you." Her lips curved into a small, reassuring smile. "We'll all wait for you."

After that brief but heavy conversation with the members of what might soon become the Kouhei Faction (?), Kouhei made his way through the hallways with each step feeling strangely heavy and light at the same time.

He was headed to the meeting place where he was supposed to see those who'd stood beside him in the war... people who had risked everything under his banner.

The first person he approached was Yuki Momoka. She stood there, calm yet imposing, her presence sharp enough to cut through the silence. She was Misuzu's sister and the current head of the formidable Yuki Clan.

"You've finally come to see me, Child of the Anti-Prophecy. I've been waiting," she said, her tone tinged with something that hovered between amusement and cold authority.

"W-Well, I'm sorry, Momoka-san," Kouhei replied, his voice catching a little as he scratched the back of his neck. "I was caught up with… a lot of things after everything that happened, so..."

"So there's something more important than me?" she shot back, narrowing her eyes at him, her stare sharp enough to make Kouhei tense.

"Well…" he started, words sticking in his throat.

"That's fine, I suppose," she exhaled, her expression loosening as the tension seemed to slip from her shoulders. "I can understand you'd have plenty to deal with as well as personal matters that need your attention first."

"Right," Kouhei nodded, feeling the tightness in his chest ease, just a little.

"So then… given how the war turned out, it makes sense you'd be this busy," Momoka continued, her voice carrying a hint of dry amusement now. "And I heard from Yuuna that you're going to be named the leader. Fuhahaha! A human as a leader… The Yuuna Faction—or I suppose it'll be the Kouhei Faction now—has really fallen off quite a bit, hasn't it?"

"I-I'm still not the official leader yet, so it's still the Yuuna Faction for now," Kouhei said quickly, a wry smile tugging at the corners of his lips.

"Well, either way, I came here because I had something I wanted to say to you directly," Momoka said, her expression growing a shade more serious, her gaze sharpening. "First, I wanted to congratulate you on defeating Souichiro. Someone as stubborn and powerful as him… well, you at least deserve that much praise."

"Thank you," Kouhei murmured, bowing his head slightly.

"But I also came to warn you," she added, her tone dropping, cold enough to make the air between them feel heavier.

"Warn me…?" Kouhei echoed, confusion and a faint edge of concern flickering across his face.

"The Yuki Clan isn't as simple as it looks from the outside, Child of the Anti-Prophecy," Momoka said, each word deliberate and sharp. "So don't even start thinking about doing something foolish that could piss me off." Her eyes locked onto his, unblinking, the weight of her stare enough to make him feel like she could see right through him. "And I suppose you're not planning to have my older sister take over the Yuki Clan so you'd end up controlling it… right?"
