Chapter 5:
Chapter 5: Return for Revenge:
Lin Fan’s sudden outburst terrified his teammates. They quickly rushed forward to hold him back.
“Captain, what happened?”
“Captain, please tell us—what happened to Lin Chen?”
As his comrades, they were all familiar with Lin Chen. He was known as a prodigy, full of potential. In the past, during downtime, they had even visited him together. Seeing Lin Fan now in such pain, their hearts were filled with unease.
With a look of agony on his face, Lin Fan gritted his teeth and spoke slowly, trembling with each word: “My… my brother was killed…”
Those words hit like thunder.
Everyone froze, completely shocked.
“Damn it! Who? Who the hell did it!?”
The squad’s tank, a burly man known by his codename “Tank,” clenched his fists, his muscles bulging in fury. “Who dared to kill Xiaochen? This must be avenged! Captain, who did it?”
The others were equally outraged. As brothers in arms, how could they stand by?
Lin Fan suppressed the boiling rage in his chest and shook his head. “The higher-ups didn’t tell me. More like they’re too afraid to say it. But don’t worry, I’ll find out!”
“Brothers, I have to go back. I must find out who killed Xiaochen and why!”
“Captain, hold on! File a request first. We’re still on duty. If you leave without permission, you’ll be severely punished!”
But Lin Fan didn’t care at all. He raised his arm defiantly. “Request? Anyone targeting me will block it immediately. I can’t afford to wait!”
“My own brother is dead! How could I endure this? I must go back now and investigate!”
“No matter who the killer is—I’ll tear them apart with my own hands!”
With that, Lin Fan turned and walked away without hesitation.
His teammates tried to stop him, attempting to pull him back. “Captain, calm down. Let the deputy captain handle it. If you leave now, they’ll use it against you!”
“She might have a better plan!”
Their deputy captain, Jiang Huaiyue, wasn’t just the team’s strategist—she was also very close to Lin Fan. It was obvious to everyone that their relationship was more than just professional.
If Jiang Huaiyue found out, she definitely wouldn’t let Lin Fan act recklessly.
“No need to say more!”
Lin Fan didn’t want to argue. With a stomp, the earth beneath him cracked open—and in the next second, his figure shot forward like a bolt of lightning.
His teammates scrambled to chase after him.
They knew that there were people in the upper ranks constantly looking for an excuse to get rid of Lin Fan. If he left without authorization now, it would be considered desertion—and the consequences would be disastrous. He could be stripped of rank or even expelled from the military…
…
Meanwhile, in Meilijian, Chicago.
Inside a luxury villa, a woman stood at a floor-to-ceiling window, gazing blankly at the glowing night skyline. The neon lights flickered in the distance, but her mind was elsewhere.
It was late at night due to the time difference.
The woman wore a silk nightgown. Her chest rose and fell with tension, revealing her perfect figure. Her hand was clenched into a fist, pressed gently against her lips. Her brows furrowed, then relaxed, her eyes filled with restlessness.
Her name was Liu Ruyan.
Just moments ago, she had awoken from a nightmare where her entire family had been massacred. She was so frightened that she immediately called home in Zhonghai.
But no one answered—not a single call got through.
In Dragon Country, it was still broad daylight.
One missed call might be coincidence, but not reaching anyone at all? That was a serious problem.
Her unease deepened.
Despite her calm nature, Liu Ruyan couldn’t help but panic. As the eldest daughter of the Liu family, she was known as a brilliant woman—calm, intelligent, and incredibly capable.
With her beauty, intellect, and exceptional business skills, she was considered one of the brightest stars among Zhonghai’s younger generation.
But her family had always believed that women should marry well, not make waves.
So she left the country, determined to prove herself in a bigger arena. And she had succeeded. She now held the title of president of a financial chamber of commerce in Meilijian.
Returning home would be an honor.
But now… something terrible had happened, and she was completely shaken.
She had already ordered an emergency investigation. Now, she could only wait, heart pounding.
Bang… bang…
A knock at the door broke the silence, pulling Liu Ruyan from her thoughts.
“Come in!” she called out, quickly walking over.
Her eyes, previously filled with fear, were now sharp and focused.
A woman rushed in, face pale with panic.
“President… President…”
“Speak. What happened?”
The woman swallowed hard. “The Liu family… they’re gone…”
“At noon today in Zhonghai, at the Dragon Court Seven Star Hotel, your family attended your sister’s wedding. But afterward, none of them came out. It’s like they vanished.”
“According to the reports from Zhonghai… they’re all dead.”
Boom! Liu Ruyan felt as if thunder had exploded inside her skull.
It wasn’t just a nightmare—something had truly happened.
“How… how could this happen…”
She collapsed to the floor, her face pale as paper.
“Who did it? Who!?”
The woman answered quickly, “It’s most likely the man who married your sister. His name is Shen Wuxiao.”
“Shen Wuxiao…” Liu Ruyan murmured, eyes filled with dread.
She knew that name all too well.
If it was really Shen Wuxiao… then she had no way to take revenge. If he wanted to kill her, all it would take was a word. Even if she tried to use economic means to suppress him—it would be like a child offering pocket change to buy a kingdom.
But this was her family’s annihilation. How could she not seek revenge?
“Book me the next available flight—I’m going home immediately!”
After the initial shock, Liu Ruyan quickly composed herself.
She was not someone who gave up easily.
If there was no opportunity, she would create one.
If necessary, she would even use her body to get close to Shen Wuxiao—then kill him in the moment of intimacy!
…
As for the man in question, Shen Wuxiao, he was currently relaxing in a bay villa in Zhonghai—living extravagantly.
Everyone has their way of venting.
Some cry. Some run. Some sing their hearts out.
Shen Wuxiao? He danced—wildly—for three days and three nights.
This villa was his personal hideaway.
Whenever he was angry, he came here to “put out the fire.”
It was filled with beautiful women—mature, youthful, elegant, playful—all carefully selected.
They knew the rules. Being with such a powerful and handsome man, while being well-paid, was more than enough for them.
None dared to overstep.
One wrong move… and they’d be thrown out without a second thought.
