Chapter 30 - The Shadow Clan

Chapter 30: The Shadow Clan

When did I become your older brother?

In your past life, you must have been an absolute strategist, so skilled at forming connections!

Lu Yu silently mocked in his mind but did not respond to her.

Since learning about the Xu family’s background, he had already known that they were not qualified to be his opponents.

Although he hadn’t systematically cultivated nor did he know any combat techniques or cultivation methods, he held four powerful skills and had mastered a portion of the Shadow power. Any ordinary ninth-tier Awakener would definitely not be his opponent.

Moreover, there were three Shadow servants standing by to help him retreat if needed.

Additionally, his Fear Balloon might be at home, but with a single call, it could rush to his side.

The power of a Morning Star-level monster is not something a few ninth-tiers can resist!

Once the Absorption Halo is activated, it would be like the Blood Moon rising—stealing away all vitality.

Even the Spider Priest would be instantaneously killed, and the Xu family would be nothing more than fish in the sea.

As for that monkey-faced masked man, he was a complete fool— unaware of his own worth, used by others to test him, and then killed as a lesson.

This time, he had only severed the man’s arm as a warning. If it were someone else, he might have wiped out the entire Xu family.

He was indeed too kind-hearted!

Lu Yu was not someone with a strong killing intent, but if the Xu family were to make a move, he wouldn’t hesitate to wipe them out without mercy.

Thus, Lu Yu slowly began inspecting the goods, but many of the sellers became anxious, silently praying that they wouldn’t be caught in the crossfire.

The Xu family soon arrived, and the monkey-faced masked man saw them as if they were his saviors. He quickly whispered:

“Big Brother, help me get revenge! He cut off my arm—my life is ruined…”

“I already know,” Xu Jiuzhou snorted coldly. He had come because he had received word of the incident.

He looked at the monkey-faced masked man’s miserable condition and furrowed his brow. His servants quickly stepped forward to stop the bleeding and dress the wound.

Although Xu Jiuzhou was not yet thirty, he had long been in charge of the Xu family’s power, and his demeanor carried a natural air of authority that made him seem like someone who could command without raising his voice.

He looked at his brother’s miserable state and then turned his gaze toward Lu Yu, who was shrouded in the Shadow Veil. His gaze lingered for a moment on the Shadow servants, and his pupils abruptly contracted!

With a sudden step forward, everyone thought he was about to strike, but he spun around and charged toward the monkey-faced man, grabbing his head with one hand. With a sudden force, he twisted!

Crack!

With the sound of a bone breaking, the monkey-faced masked man’s head snapped backward, and his mask fell off, leaving a look of disbelief on his face.

Having completed the task, Xu Jiuzhou didn’t stop there. He drew his blade and severed the head from the corpse, holding it in his hand and shouting at Lu Yu:

“I am to blame for the mismanagement. One of my family members offended you, and I have personally executed him. I ask for your forgiveness!”

“Shh!”

Everyone present inhaled sharply, even Lu Yu, who paused in surprise, unable to comprehend what the man was doing.

This wasn’t the usual villain script! It was different from what they expected!

Xu Jiuzhou’s action was so quick that no one could react in time. No one understood why he suddenly took such brutal action against his own kin!

Such a ruthless mindset, decisively killing his own brother as an apology—this action made everyone think of one word.

A tyrant!

However, while everyone was shocked by Xu Jiuzhou’s act of fratricide, they also realized that this wasn’t a sign of strict family discipline. On the contrary, the Xu family was known for their domineering nature and being fiercely protective of their own.

But today, such a deviation from their usual behavior meant one thing—this mysterious figure before them was either extremely powerful or had an incredibly significant background!

No matter which it was, it was clear that they couldn’t afford to offend him!

Lu Yu, momentarily stunned into silence, did not give a response, which Xu Jiuzhou took as a lack of satisfaction. He continued:

“Our Xu family is willing to compensate you with one thousand Spirit Coins. Do you think that’s sufficient? I swear on my life, our Xu family never intended to offend the Shadow Clan!”

As soon as this was said, even Xu Jiuzhou’s servants couldn’t hide their displeasure, but with the body lying on the ground, no one dared to protest, knowing full well that if they spoke out, they would risk death.

After all, Xu Jiuzhou had killed his own brother without hesitation. If they dared speak out, they would definitely be torn apart.

What is the Shadow Clan? What kind of organization is that? Did they mistake me for someone from that clan after seeing my Shadow servants?

Shadow Clan—it sounds like a powerful organization. Could it be another one of those weak clans like the Xu family?

Lu Yu mused silently. His yellow robes billowed as the Shadow Veil fluttered, and the eerie smiling mask on his face showed no signs of emotion.

His silence made the entire area so quiet that even the sound of a falling needle could be heard.

An invisible silence descended upon them, and a terrifying pressure was released into the air!

Xu Jiuzhou, holding the head, broke out in cold sweat, unsure of what the man before him meant.

After a full minute, Lu Yu coldly said:

“Don’t do it again.”

Upon hearing this, Xu Jiuzhou breathed a sigh of relief. Fearing that Lu Yu might change his mind, he quickly ordered one of his servants to hand the bag filled with Spirit Coins to the Shadow servants. Without even bothering to handle his brother’s corpse, he left with his servants.

Once they had exited the door, one of his trusted subordinates couldn’t help but ask:

“Master, why did you…”

Xu Jiuzhou’s face was grim as he coldly replied:

“We almost got played.”
