Chapter 161: Looks Like It’s Time to Take Action!
Rumble!
A golden divine chariot rolled through the wide city gates and entered the Jade Capital City.
Inside the Jade Capital City, many people were immediately alarmed.
In an instant, the entire city seemed to awaken.
Pillars of energy and smoke shot into the sky as countless hidden gazes pierced through the void, falling upon the golden divine chariot that had just entered the city.
A powerhouse at the Ninth Tribulation Life and Death Realm visiting the Great Chu Dynasty was already something that would draw massive attention.
And if you added the fact that he had defeated the Champion Marquis and held the identity of the Holy Son of Profound Sun Holy Land, then it was impossible to ignore him.
"That looks like the Champion Marquis' flying treasure, but now it's in the hands of the Profound Sun Holy Son. If the Champion Marquis saw this scene, he'd probably cough up blood in anger."
"The Profound Sun Holy Son is here today—chances are, it won't be long before he and the Champion Marquis fight again. I wonder who'll win this time."
"It'll definitely be Li Xun. If he beats the Champion Marquis once, he can beat him again."
"No doubt. Rumor has it that Li Xun is a cultivator who survived the ten lightning calamities tribulation. He even seized the Champion Marquis' descending divine light. No one knows the full extent of his strength now."
"I wouldn't be so sure. Not long ago, the Champion Marquis entered the palace, and it's said the current Emperor personally granted him quite a few treasures."
"Seriously?"
"Of course!"
The streets of Jade Capital buzzed with chatter.
Among the voices were those who disliked the Champion Marquis, but there were also many die-hard supporters of his.
Each side argued its stance, neither able to convince the other.
Eventually, all eyes turned to follow the slowly moving golden divine chariot.
Wherever it passed, the pedestrians on the street instinctively stepped aside, splitting to both sides.
Just as the chariot advanced under the guidance of a yellow-haired man,
A loud disturbance echoed from the end of the road.
Ahead stood over a thousand people, crowding together and completely blocking half the road—only narrow paths on the sides were left passable.
"So the troublemakers have arrived, huh…"
The yellow-haired man glanced at the commotion ahead, the corner of his lips curling into a knowing smirk.
If the Great Chu Dynasty were a sect, then the Jade Capital beneath their feet was the sect's main headquarters.
Here, Life and Death Realm experts were a dime a dozen, Divine Palace Realm cultivators were not rare either, and there were even Saints in residence.
As for the Champion Marquis—his status was practically equivalent to a Holy Son of a Holy Land.
Li Xun had defeated the Champion Marquis, which meant he had effectively slapped the face of the entire younger generation of the Great Chu Dynasty.
If Li Xun were allowed to enter the city without a hitch today—now that would be truly strange.
"Fellow Daoist Li Xun, it seems there's some unrest up ahead. The road might be impassable for a while. Perhaps we could take a detour?" the yellow-haired man suggested politely.
He was merely responsible for leading the way. Everything else? None of his business.
Now that he had spoken up, it counted as a reminder to Li Xun—if conflict broke out ahead, he could say he tried to advise him.
After all, it was the Profound Sun Holy Son who insisted on going forward.
Of course, if Li Xun agreed to take a detour, then today might pass without incident.
But come tomorrow?
No matter where he went, someone would block his path.
If he backed down once, he'd have to back down a second time.
And bit by bit, news that the Profound Sun Holy Son couldn't take a single step in Jade Capital would spread throughout all the major powers nearby.
At that point, the reputation of Profound Sun Holy Land, a newly-risen Holy Land, would become a joke, and no one would take it seriously ever again.
The air… gradually grew tense.
The golden divine chariot came to a halt, its surface shimmering with divine radiance. Curtains fluttered in the breeze, and amidst them sat a tall, poised figure. He was like an immortal descending into the mortal realm—his eyes opened and closed slowly, releasing a faint divine light.
"Who are the ones blocking the way ahead?"
Li Xun spoke calmly.
He had long anticipated today's situation.
If the roles were reversed—if he had been the one defeated, and the victor was now boldly entering Profound Sun Holy Land—he figured it would've gone down the same way.
"To be frank, Fellow Daoist Li Xun," the yellow-haired man replied with a smile, "the ones causing trouble ahead are Young Duke Zheng Poyue of the Qi State and a few other young marquises. The other is Yang Yi, the illegitimate son of the Duke of Yang."
The situation was clear to any discerning eye—a group of noble brats ganging up to bully another.
Because both sides had high status, few dared step in to stop it.
Most just stood by, watching the drama unfold.
"Oh?"
Li Xun let out a quiet, meaningful sound at that, but said no more.
Before coming to the Great Chu Dynasty, he had done his homework on its various powerhouses—especially those with ducal titles.
After all, a dynasty wasn't like a sect.
At its core, it was a secular imperial court, just in a more "cultivated" form.
Schemes, power struggles, and court politics were no less cutthroat than in the mundane world.
In fact, these battles were often even more brutal, because the people involved had long lifespans and endless patience.
The Duke of Qi represented the founding noble clans, while the Duke of Yang represented the newer, rising aristocracy.
These two factions had always been at odds—even before Li Xun showed up.
Now that he was here, it was clear that Young Duke Zheng wanted to use this opportunity to both step on Yang Yi and stir up trouble for him as well.
"Ah, right," the yellow-haired man suddenly added, as if remembering something.
"Back in the day, the Champion Marquis served under the Duke of Qi. He and Young Duke Zheng have always been close."
"Is that so?"
Li Xun's heart stirred with understanding, and he cast another glance at the man.
Was this a subtle way of telling him that today's blockade couldn't be avoided—that he had to take action?
Zheng Poyue's close ties with the Champion Marquis meant Li Xun could yield to anyone—except him.
"Tell me," Li Xun asked again, "is it permitted to fight within Jade Capital City?"
Before the man could even respond—
BOOM!
A loud explosion echoed across the plaza.
From within the crowd ahead, a black figure shot out like a cannonball, hurtling through the air with terrifying speed.
No one had time to react as the figure crashed directly toward the golden divine chariot where Li Xun sat.
"Looks like it's allowed," Li Xun murmured softly.
His entire body ignited with crimson blood energy, radiating dazzling light that pierced the night sky.
His aura surged outward like a great solar king, engulfing the entire area.
Everyone nearby trembled uncontrollably.
As their eyes turned toward the golden chariot, a sense of deep fear welled up from within.
It was as if a supreme deity sat within—one who could annihilate countless lives with a single thought.
Just as Li Xun was about to make his move, a voice suddenly rang out in his mind.
